installed in September 2017 , I have my first issue . it seem one of the bulbs has lost one diode , not completely out . so I will have to contact cyclops about warranty.... on there site they say you have to send in defective unit , no longer will they send replacement in good faith since some have not followed through in returning bad bulb....

I bought a set of led bulbs for my wife's CR-V for $35 on Amazon. They do a good job. I would buy a set as a backup for the cyclops bulb when you send it in. It would also be good to have a spare on long trips .

Are yours the second generation 4000 lumen ones? If so you may be the first to report a problem with them.

not sure about a set of cyclops as a spare but I will have to get at least one so I can replace the defective light.

4.8 equals 4800 lumens and the color is 5700 k, may have to order two so they match then send in bad bulb .

Looks my 4000 lumen Cyclops bulbs just had a malfunction today. Had them in about a year. I only noticed because I was pulling up to a spot in front of a store and noticed in the reflection that they looked lopsided. Going to have to investigate. Bummer. Not impressed.

greenwall, that lopsided light is what I noticed as I parked in front of store front.... not a complete failure but one diode is out on my bulb... as far as millage not sure but installed in September 2017.... as I mentioned in a previous post cyclops has up graded the bulbs to a 4800 lumen platinum series and all new bulbs will be this standard according to their site... I have not contacted them yet , plan to give them a call some time this upcoming week....

Yes. Unfortunately I bought them from another vendor so I'm not sure if Cyclops will replace them, or how that will work. Also, I was just checking out their new bulbs and noticed it said "one year warranty". I think I might be just past that. Heck, I can do a lot better than that for the amount of money they want. The difference in visibility isn't that great. If one year is the expected lifespan, that's $180.00 badly misspent, and not to be repeated by me. That is, if they don't replace them.

I had the same issue and was within the first year (Jan '17). Cyclops had a new one to me about a week after receiving the bad bulb. I used a H7 in the interim and it blew out after only a month. My bike hates those bulbs!!!

Also, the original box has "Lifetime Warranty" printed on mine so give yours a look over. Tip 2...check the brick for separation before reinstalling inside the headlight housing. The tiny machine screws were loose or had worked their way loose on the bulb that failed.

seems that every 3 months or so I was replacing a regular bulb , the brighter the shorter the lifespan.... at 30 plus dollars a bulb it was running about 60 to a 100 a year.... so , if cyclops honors the warranty , then all is well save for the hassle of doing the warranty exchange..... so to not have the bike running around with one 'eye" so to speak . am thinking of buying a replacement bulb to have as a spare ( these lights do not blow me away with their beam pattern , it is an improvement , but they are bright and that is a good thing around idiot car drivers )so according to cyclops they have a new and improved bulb that will replace this bulb.... so any new replacement bulb will be the new bulb so I might as well get 2 .... have to talk to them tomorrow before I decide on my course of action.... another thought is this , ive not had to replace a bulb since the new install last September, both bulbs still work , though one is down one diode . so not horrible.... and if your not having to buy their kit which includes the larger and deeper caps , the individual bulbs sell for 64.00 , that's about the same as 2 Sylvania bulbs or one and a half for their brighter bulb that will last about 3 months...so I'm thinking the cyclops may still be the greater value...so it all comes down to warranty.

I took out my malfunctioning bulb and played around with the connections as requested by Cyclops. No luck. One side of the (diodes?) were definitely gone for good. They told me that since it was three months over the 1 year warrantee they would give me half off on a new set. Since I have just about 4000 miles on my bike, I was not impressed. The woman I talked to at Cyclops assured me that some have years on their LED bulbs, and that there was just no way to tell who's going to get what. Seriously? So, it would be $79.00 for a pair of the new 4800 lumen bulbs. That's minus the caps that I already have. Okay, I guess. Ill give it another shot. So it amounts to $79.00, on top of the $175 for the original bulbs/caps, and I have to say I'm not feeling too warm and fuzzy about the overall exchange. I will say that the service was very good though. I'm thinking that the tech for reliable halogen/LED bulb exchange is just not there yet. Not to mention beam pattern. Which in the case of the ST is acceptable because of the shutter design. On my previous bike that used H4s, it was spread all over the place. Anyway, we'll see.

This might be worth it if it was a once and done prospect, but that does not appear to be the case. There are way to many 'not ready for primetime' examples of LED's out there. It may take a couple of more years to truly sort this out.

In the meantime I am going to stick with Hella. They have been around for a longtime and the reviews are quite positive. That, along with the cost at $5 per bulb when buying a 6 pack, why not?

Years don’t mean much, I have a friend with a 2012 Tenere with 3,600 miles.

I have original 3000lm Cyclops LED's still going strong on my Kawasaki Versys 650, fpr nearly 4 years now and ove 25,000km travelled.

I have had 2 bulbs fail from cyclops, and only when they were in the Super Tenere. Both 3200lm bulbs. These have a different LED than the 3000lm bulbs. Both times the 3200lm LEDs failed slowley... the light starts to dim as they burn out. finally they blow.

The only difference in bikes headlight is the Versys has a rear rubber boot for the bulbs and the fan is outside of the headlight housing.
On the S10, fan is inside the housing, but the headlight housing never gets hot.

One day I might try and mount a Versys rubber headlight boot to a cut doen S10 cap and run the fan outside.
But I doubt this fixes the issue.

I am currently running a pair of 4000lm bulbs. as it was cheaper to buy a pair of new bulbs from RMATV than pay for 1 bulb with a 50% Cyclops discount when adding the expensive shipping rates that Cyclops have to Australia.

I talked with Darrrel at cyclops yesterday , my lights are still under warranty so no cost to me ..... he asked me to check connection to make sure of defect and I will ,soon.... we had a great talk about heat and how LED don't like it .... our lights live in a sealed environment where heat can build up and because its sealed I'm thinking it does not radiate away as easily as on other bikes.... it was 98 here in Austin yesterday, had to be hotter in those bulb housing , got 3 out 4 diodes still working..... it is a hassle , I'm not a fan of changing out bulbs , putting in a longer lasting low grade yellow bulb that will last a year at best is not a place I want to go to again... so at some point in the next few days I will park the bike and play with the lights , cyclops will send me a new bulb and I will install it..... still brighter with 3 diodes than any 2 halogens that will not last 3 months...
