I put the stock bulbs in the styrofoam container the cyclops came in and tossed in the top box. So far, 2k miles, so good.

How many miles on your Cyclops kit ? I would have contacted Cyclops to see what if anything they might be willing to do for you. During the day the stock bulbs are fine but for night riding they just ain’t good enough for me.
Maybe just 10k on one of the lights but only about 2k on the one that was replaced.

If I can't depend on something as important as the lighting when I'm on a tour then it's a no-go for me... the halogen ones may not be great but they are better than the cyclops when they dim to about 10% light output... my camping headlamp probably would have worked better at that point.

I'll keep an eye on this thread to see the true longevity of the product but for me it wasn't good at all.

Yeah, those sound like the old generation ones. The current ones are 4000 lumens/bulb (8000 total):
True. I purchased mine in 07/16 and received 3,200 lumen bulbs. My first failure was 11/16 and replaced with another 3,200 lumen bulb even though Cyclops was already selling new 4,000 bulbs. My second failure in 06/16 replaced with a 4,000 bulb and then my other 3,200 bulb failed and replaced with a 4,000 bulb in 07/17 less than a week before my 1 year warranty expired. So now I have both 4,000 lumen bulbs and hoping these last longer.

Even out of warranty Cyclops will give you 50% off discount on a new bulb.

So far I believe all the reported failures have been among the older generation kits.
Another true statement. I've been following the Cyclops issue closely and have not read or heard of a single 4,000 lumen bulb failure yet. They've been selling and shipping them for one year now so a very good sign. 4,000 lumen bulbs are different design and construction. They do not share the same power module either so most likely a different (and better) supplier for Cyclops.

Well, IMO if your first design is crap you should honor it 100%.. I won't be spending an additional 50% of the cost for new ones.

They do and they did honor their one year warranty quite satisfactorily, including shipping both ways. Their customer service was incredible, phone call and email of failed light output and I had a new bulb in 2-3 days. I guess I'm lucky as I ride more than most. So my one year of Cyclops ownership racked up 40K miles and enough failures to get the upgraded bulbs without cost. But 50% off discount to get a 4,000 lumen bulb is still a good deal IMO. I do understand your frustration though, if not for their new 4,000 lumen bulbs I would probably have burnt through my final two 3,200 replacements received before my warranty expired.

About 9,000 smiles currently on my Cyclops kit so maybe some bad news right around the corner, I sure hope not, I believe this is the last month of warranty.

I promised in another thread that I would post pictures after my headlight replacement. What follows is low then high beam both before and after the change. I was a little early in taking the after, but I think it will give you a good idea. I like it, particularly the color and I think I'd do it again. I don't have as good a feeling about it as I did after I changed the bulb on my DRZ though. With the DRZ, the Cyclops was a clear winner and with the cost of one bulb fairly cheap. FWIW, these bulbs can be found on ebay even cheaper although I can't speak to the quality. With the cost of 2 bulbs and the caps on the Tenere', I think the cost benefit is close. I'm fortunate to not be on a tight budget right now, but if I was, I might look elsewhere for a solution. I will be adding auxiliary lighting to the Tenere' as well.

Looking at up grading my lights, what does ( IP68 rated ) Mean ?

"IP Ratings: (Ingress Protection or International Protection) - The Ingress Protection rating system is a classification system showing the degrees of protection from solid objects and liquids. ... The two principal grade classifications for waterproof connectors are IP67 and IP68"

Pretty sure that Checkswrecks post explains it, but something is wrong with the post :)

It is a standard for how water/dust repellent it is.

I fit mine on the outer sides of the bulbs . It was a tight fit but they'll go in.

I have been using Cyclops LED H7 bulbs for a few years now.

I first bought the 3000LM H7 in 2013 or 2014 and they are still running as the day I got them have running in my Kawasakai Versys 660 and the LED's have 30,000+km on them and still shining bright as the day I got them!

I bought the 3200LM and stuck them in my 2015 Super Tenere.

Left side 3200LM H7 LED failed in May 2017 with under 1 year (<10k KM) and was replaced by Cyclops with a 4000LM. 3200LM had a slow death only noticeable due the dim light output and the blue colour it produced.

Right side 3200LM H7 LED failed Jan 2018 on a big trip... out of warranty (lucky the 4000LM was still working). Cyclops offered to replace it for 50% off but I have to pay shipping to Australia and that is US$25-30 which makes this pointless. This bulb suffered catastrophic failure and both the LEDs blew off the base.

So I ordered a pair of Cyclops 4000LM H7 LED from Rocky Mountain ATV - Yes the LED are cheaper AND the shipping was only US$10 to Australia :)

IMHO the Cyclops 3200LM H7 LED are a complete fail.
They are the only version that have been posted as failing. Something is definitely wrong with the 3200LM H7 version.

Attached are 2 pics showing you my bulbs and the failures.

1) the LHS bulb showing you the LED/Lens discouration (failed 05/2017). Is it a heat related due to the discolouration of the brass near the plastic holder?
(note that the RHS H7 plastic holder was not deformed from heat it was actually a cold extrusion manufacturing fault).

2) RHS LED catastrophic failure (01/2018)... both LED's (with attached lenses) blew off the base on this bulb. I did not notice any dimming of the bulb. Just stopped working.
You can see how poor the issue is as the LED is burnt under the dome lens.

When I took out the warranty replacement 4000LM bulb from the bike after 6 months use the LED looks still like new. As this bulb has no warranty I'm keeping it as a spare, and now replaced with the 2x 4000LM H7 bulb i purchased new.

The little heatsink controller will fit down the left side of the projector towards the bottom (say 7 Oclock).
Left light is easy the right is a bit harder, but goes in the same place.

Note: I filed and sanded down the corners and edges of my heastsink. They were very sharp and can rub and wear on parts inside the headlight from all the vibrations.

LHS bulb was in, RHS I think I did it with bulb out as it was easier to get my hand in there as the forks get in the way.
