Mine was weaker for a few days and then just failed. When removed, the material was missing from one of the rectangles and the general color of the one remaining was browned.

Same looking bulb failure happened to me also, replacement bulb does not match the bluish color of the original one:(

Decided to have a look at my failing right headlight and found this:

Looks like both emitters are toast. I’ve gotten about a year and a half and 25K miles out of this bulb. I’d hoped for more. The left one still looks a lot brighter, even compared to the new replacement right one. I think trapping these bulbs, fan and all is a fundamental fault with this system.

I talked with Cyclops last week and they are experimenting with vented caps to let the heat out and get the bulbs to last longer . Our headlight units are small inside and contain the heat, more so then other bikes . The bulbs I just got are made different from my 1st set, we will see . Great group of people and I will get the vented caps when AVL.
Very late to the game here and just ordered a set of caps from gentleman deftoner, but I'm thinking a couple of small cutouts/holes on the caps. Those holes can be covered with small pieces of Gore-Tex or similar fabric adhesively attached. Heated vapor can escape and washover water kept out. Gotta love that stuff... Like check valves on our clothing. However, having read considerably on the matter and after conversing with deftoner I suspect no issue awaits me.

Put 10,000 miles on my first set of Cyclops, one bulb went pretty dim but the one year warranty was used up so they wouldn’t warranty it, they gave me a slight discount on a new set but if this set burns out I most likely wont be buying any more. I’m actually surprised that with all the complaints about lousy Tenere headlights Yamaha hasn’t done anything about it.

I had the left Cyclops bulb burn out on mine after about 25K miles or so. Out of warranty, they offered a 50% discount on a new bulb. My original was the 3300, which was replaced with the 4000 as they no longer sold the lower light bulb, with no real difference in light. I am going to replace my bike with a new gen 2 in the near future, and I am currently leaning on using something different then Cyclops.

Hi everyone,

I am a newbie here in this forum and my question's a little OT:

I have a Cyclop led kit installed in my XT1200Z, but lost the back cover of the other bulb last week.

Does anybody know where I could order a new cover (or two, just in case)? The supplier didn't reply to my e-mail. :-(

All the best,
Epi

june 30 2019, replaced the right cyclops that had lost one diode (it finally died completely ) in april 2019 …. so from september 2017 till april 2019 the cyclops have been ok..... replaced the bad bulb with cyclops new and improved model , and it seems to me to be new and improved …. all in all I am ok with the cyclops performance , the replacement cost me (I may be off a few bucks ) about 65 dollars …. they have made improvements to the product …. I would say that I am overall happy with there product. 1 replacement in almost 2 years not to bad . I will and have bought from them ,again.

Email cyclops, they replaced mine with proof of purchase for cost of shipping.

You will need the O-ring though. Check Napa though if you don't want to order one.

The previous owner of my 2017 installed Cyclops LEDs specifically for the super tenere. They are super bright and match the colour temp of the PIAA fog lights perfectly.
I noticed a bit of flickering a couple weeks ago. Yesterday, on a long trip, BOTH died. I knew the connection was good because I could still hear the fans running. Quick trip to pick up a couple of H7s, quick and easy replacement.

when I opened the caps and pulled the lights out, both headlights had their LEDs shattered. They literally crumbled to the touch. I’m sure glad I didn’t pay for these. Expensive junk.

I purchased some Aukey LEDs that came with a "driver", that box that we all struggle to get into the headlight enclosure. The driver on the new lights was pretty much the same size, but I couldn't get the right side driver to fit. I'm about to return them and have ordered a set that have the driver built into the lights, and aren't any bigger than the ones I'm returning. Should be interesting. The only blessing in all this is that I have the Cyclops light covers, which gives a huge opportunity to test out different lights.

I believe the heat build up in the housings enclosed case builds up and melts them. Even the back side which gets the hottest, up to 160 degrees, and in a small enclosure could possibly melt the wires and the plastic cover. I think I'm going to just run the halogens which is hotter but the heat is up front and in a bigger enclosure.

No heat buildup with HIDs because the ballasts are separate from the bulbs, and they're super bright with excellent focus.
