I just ordered the adventure set, what's this I hear about insulating the handle bar on the clutch side????? Does it really run cooler just because it does not have the throttle sleeve? Any one know the outside diameter on the adventure set ? I don't like "fat" grips, otherwise Ill buy a HD.

Mine have equal heat and I did not insulate the bars. O/D is ~34mm vs 32 for the OEM grips.

Well, I recieved my heated grips yesterday, installed them last night. I am happy with how they fit. They really go well on the S10.heat is good. I did not install a relay but will use the battery saving mode. After you turn the bike off it does go until theres 11.5 volt left. A little longer than I hoped. I dont know what it would start up like on below freezing temps. I guess you just have to remember to turn them off.

The "adventure" model of these grips doesn't appear to be available in the US. Can anyone share a source from the UK or Canada?

I would not rely on that, you will get a flat battery and the S10 needs a good battery to start up. You should always connect hot grips to an ignition switched live so you don't need to remember to siwtch them off. The OEM grips connector has an ignition switched live :)

I went with the battery saving mode.
I left it on a number of times to test out, it works well, BUT, it does not cut out until 11.5 v, which is lower than you want on a cold night before a frosty morning, or a northern hemisphere winter I suppose. We have mild temperatures, lowest this winter was -6 C./21 F. Most are above freezing. I did not test it that morning.

Re: 2013 Oxford heated grips

I have one question regarding these items (OXFORD ADV Style)

I'm considering hooking them up from the OEM Heated Grips Sockets, and I also have the OEM Yamaha FOG Lights...

Will I have issues with the current load? I have no idea the difference in watts between these Oxford products and the OEM Yamaha Heated grips..? The last thing that I want is to fry my lectrical circuit while using the foglights and the heated grips together...?

Thanks in advance for all the valuable input!

Oxford Premium Adventure Heated Grips Install

Not wanting to pay the ridiculous price of the OEM heated grips I got a pair of Oxford Premium Adventure heated grips for the S10. These are exactly the same size as the S10s standard grips so do not need trimming.

First step was replacing the grips. The old grips were cut off with a Stanley knife. The bar ends remove very easily to allow the new grips to be slid on. They are a tight fit so I didn't bother with glue.

The left grip I had the wire coming out under the bar as shown here so it wouldnt get in the way of the passing light switch.

The right grip I had the wire go out over the top so it wouldn't get in the way of using the brake whatever the position of the throttle.

After much umming and ahhing and wanting to use muffs as well I decided to fit the controller on the inside of the right fairing just in front of the tank. I placed a cable tie through the back of the cable clip that was nearby in preparation so if the double sided tape failed on the controller it wouldn't fall far. On the subject of double sided tape, the piece that comes with the grips is thin and not ideal for this location which is not completely flat, I'd recommend using some different tape that was thicker and better suited for the purpose.

I trimmed back the sleeving to the controller to help with routing the cables, but then found that Oxford had cable joins under the sleeving so had to wrap it all up again in tape.

Controller fixed in place.

I had decided I was going to fit the Oxford grips to the OEM heated grip connector located behind the left fairing to the right of the battery. This connector already had a male fitting to the female socket, but without any pins.

I removed two of the rubber plugs from the male side of the connector corresponding with the black wire (earth) and black/green wire (live when engine is running).

Each wire was then trimmed and connected to pins I had bought off ebay.

All very satisfactory in the end.

Here's a picture that better shows the location.

You put the grips on the wrong bars, hint the oxford is upside down on the right grip, I could not live with this ::025::

The grips are on the correct bars, they wouldn't fit any other way...but he does have the right one spun 180 degrees out.

I have the right one spun 180 degrees out so there is no chance of the brake lever fouling the grip whatever the grip position however unlikely it is to have full throttle and full brake at the same time.

Not sure I understand the placement of the controller. Do you still have access to the various heat settings? It's definitely a much tidier installation for use with the Muffs.

Re: Oxford Premium Adventure Heated Grips Install

If you are sat on the bike and look down, just in front of the fuel tank to the right, that is where you will find it on my bike. It is easy to adjust at a standstill, and I have also adjusted it whilst moving although finding the buttons in the dark with gloves is not easy. I'll get a better photo of it and upload it tonight.
