Re: Oxford Heated Grips!

I was able to modify the stock mount that comes with the Oxford grips. Just another idea for the folks out there.

Why not just go right to the battery, it's up front so it's easy. I like the Oxfords; I have mine wired right to battery.

Ideally you don't want to go to the battery direct. Could leave them ON in error and drain the battery. Best way is to the OEM Heated Grip plug under the right side panel. That way when the bike is not running the grips are not receiving juice. ::001::

The controller is prone to failure after a while. I think its due to water ingres, so rub some silicon sealer around the controller joints and cable entry points. The heated grips themselves are great. My controller failed so replaced it with a LED light dimmer and used the original cabling - works great. Hope your controller lasts longer than mine. No problems wiring up to the OEM 4 pin plug.

The controller is voltage sensing and shuts down if the voltage drops below a certain point, around 11.5 or so I think.

Re: 2013 Oxford heated grips

I orderes a set form KTM Twins and they would out of stock for a few weeks so I told them to send the KTM heated grips made by Dayton instead. Easy install, switch has 4 heat settings and last weekend in the 30's I used 3 out of 4. Fast heat up and good feel. Not a bad option and they list for $99.

Re: 2013 Oxford heated grips

Why would someone from Texas ask who needs heated grips? Cause some of us don't have the option of riding in Texas.
As long as our roads are dry we ride in temperatures as cool as 25F or less for the die hards. Heated grip are just standard equipment on an 200 mile day ride along with a heated vest. If it wasn't for the heated options we'd have to wait till April to ride here in Canukstan. How often you ask? In the last 3 weeks I have put on 1200 miles. Not all those days were this cool but you get the picture. Otherwise its a very long time between rides and cabin fever kicked in early this year. Bonus! ::001::

Re: 2013 Oxford heated grips

While riding to Ushuaia on my KLR, my heated jacket liner went out, was left only with heated grips. These absolutely saved my ride down there. I wore very thin 25 year old leather gloves under 25 year old tall vinyl rain mitts (which blocked the famous Patagonia winds) and this kept my whole body warm enough to ride thousands of miles in cold, very windy conditions, even some snow. Yes the hand guards helped tremendously too. I am now an absolute believer of heated grips. And that set were cheap aftermarket warmers. I was 54 when I fell in love with them. Last winter I rode in 4 degree temps and hands were good.

Re: 2013 Oxford heated grips

I was at the Indy Dealer Expo this past weekend and spoke with the Oxford rep, who also gave me their 2013 USA catalog. At the show he had the Original Heaterz grips and the Heaterz Sport grips. In the USA catalog, they have those 2, plus Cruiser, ATV, and Light heated grips, but no adventure models available here.

Thanks for the update . Looks like we'll have to go the same route as motostevie and get them from the UK.

Re: 2013 Oxford heated grips

I ordered a pair of the Adventure grips from the UK last week in anticipation of needing them for a bike I was considering buying. I am no longer in need of the grips and will end up selling them here. They are due to arrive thi Friday, 3/1. Will sell for what I've got into them which is Euro 105.00. I haven't looked at my credit card bill yet to know the US$ amount. Somewhere around $130 I think...

Re: 2013 Oxford heated grips

Well a long time ago I seemed to kick this thread off. So I've now got back to base after a very difficult few weeks and there were my grips just waiting patiently for my return. Now how to install them .... what are the chances of using the bikes connector for the OEM heated grip set up? .... anyone done that yet?

I don't see why not. Eastern Beaver has the exact connector that you would need. However, there is a $20 minimum order requisite. I just did buy the PC-8 with Tenere specific wiring harness. I've got grips and lights to install and wire up.

Coincidentally, I found a Ebay seller that has the Premium Adventure grips available in the US for $79 with free shipping. I bought them last week and recieved them Monday. Just wanted to put that out there in case anyone would like a set but don't want to buy from the UK. Great deal, I am a happy camper!

Oh, and after I bought the set that was listed, the seller relisted the same item. Which means they probably have more than what they are listing.

How do you like the grips? Are they rock hard like previous Oxfords?

Re: 2013 Oxford heated grips

This is my first set of Oxford grips. So I can't compare to previous models but they feel pretty nice to me. Similar feel to the stockers I guess.

This will be my first ever set of heated grips so I am pretty excited to get them hooked up and running! ::014::

Please post pics as you do.

If possible, could you take measurements of the grip length and ID of each grip? My previous Oxfords were significantly shorter than OEM and the left grip ID was too small to fit on Pro Taper bars.

Any luck getting them installed and operating? Initial quality impressions? Pics?
