Wheres the best place to hook them up? Tks!!!
My choice for best connection point was the 4-pin Grip Warmer (option) connector. You have your choice of powering them up off the head light relay, or off the key switch. The connector is in the area just below the fuse blocks.

I used one of the option connectors (one that was ignition switch controlled) and used that to switch a relay I had wired direct to the Battery. That way I had a decent current supply for the grips and if I left them on accidently with the ignition off it wouldnt then flatten the battery.
PS the battery feed was fused to the rating required for the grips.

You can do all of that straight from the OEM grip connector..plenty of current available..the OEM grips will fry your hands on high setting. Heated grips consume about 2.5 amps max anyhow.

Some thoughts on the Oxfords:
I like that the controller doesn't look like someone's ceiling fan rheostat
The controller mounting bracket that comes with the package is a waste of time. I made a new one out of stainless and bead-blasted it
I also like that the shorter grips keep my hands further out on the bars, which offers more leverage
Everything fits nicely behind the right side panel
And like Tremor said: There's tons of capacity in the OEM wiring, which I took advantage of.

Here's a couple shots:

Oxford heated grips

Hi all, I have had alook around and could not find anyone with real problems with their Oxford heated grips.. I bought my bike and it came with the Oxford system on it...
The problem I had was more with the controller I think.
It does'nt seem to respond, it just seem to go to hell hot, and that is it. When I turn it on, it starts up on 50 or something, and I can dial it up to a 100, but not down at all. I have been trying to get hold of a controller alone, but did not have much luck with that.
I was just wondering if anyone else had the same problem, and what I could do to fix it.
I love the grips, but at the moment I can fry eggs in a pan on them, and the controller makes me want to attack it. ::002::
Any thoughts and advice are welcome..

Their office and warehouse is about 500 metres from where I am sat in my living room typing this letter, if you wanna post the controller to me I can attach it to a brick and deliver it back to them for ya ::008::

In my experience, the Oxford controllers are too susceptible to water. I've had one behave as yours does but opposite temperature-wise (ie. would automatically switch back to low if I tried to select high) for a couple of days after it was rained upon, then it worked fine. I had another that died completely just after a rain shower. You can buy alternative controllers off ebay for a couple of bucks. I made my own before I came across the ebay ones.

I've just fitted the new 2013 heated grips 'sport' model from Oxford to my Kwacker .... they are a heck of an improvement on the original ones. They do a specific 'Adventure' model which perfectly fits the Tenere. Did we know that? Not sure. Anyway, I know they fit because I measured them on a handily placed Tenere at the bike show.

Looks like the same crappy, oh look water I'm going to die on you, controller. Fortunately there are cheap and reliable alternatives.

I've had a set of the second generation grips and the controller was not a problem and that thing got thoroughly abused. This third gen unit seems pretty robust and is certainly glove friendly and positive. I have to say that mounted on a sports bike you can position it under the fairing/screen for optimum protection ... that said I hose the bike down regularly so it does get saturated. I guess like all things there are good and bad. I'm definitely going to install them on the Tenere as the OEM's are just crazy money and seemingly can be problematic.

I find the grips excellent, however the controller on mine did pack in within 12 months. I replaced the controller with a LED dimmer. So far thats given me variable heat control for 4 months. Don't forget to insulate the clutch side bar so that you don't suffer one hot hand and one warm hand.

What did you use as an insulator? I'm considering using heat shrink.

I have the Oxford Heated Grips and work pretty good. I do however find them narrower than the stock grips by about a 1/4 inch which doesn't allow me use my Go Cruise Control. My hand takes all the space on the grips and my hands are average size. They could have easily have made them just a little bit longer. ::001::
