Yes this is a new range of grips for 2013. They are classifed as 'Premium' models. They have Sport, Adventure and Touring. The Adventures are longer and fit the Tenere ... same length as OEM grips.

The product has been overhauled and appears better that previous generations. Grips, controller etc all better in forma and function.

Re: 2013 Oxford heated grips

Just fitted some of these Premium Adventure Grips and they are perfect. One word of warning though, ditch the super glue that comes with the set as it 'goes off' in about0.000009 of a second! I used silicon bath sealant which gives you plenty of time to fit and adjust the grips into position, just leave them over night to set.
As far as I can tell both grips warm to the same temperature which is warm to very hot! The length of the grips is the same as the Yammy ones.

I've just fitted the new 2013 heated grips 'sport' model from Oxford to my Kwacker .... they are a heck of an improvement on the original ones. They do a specific 'Adventure' model which perfectly fits the Tenere. Did we know that? Not sure. Anyway, I know they fit because I measured them on a handily placed Tenere at the bike show.

I'm away at the moment so have difficulty in getting things sorted ... I'll give it go. :) Lovely bike with some nice grips ::008::

Someone please tell me what heated grips are good for. Ive owned two bikes with them. The only thing they kept warm was my palm. and even then if it was cool enough for heated grips I had gloves on. and heated grips dont warm the back of your hands and fingers. sorry dont get the need for "heated grips"

Re: 2013 Oxford heated grips

heated grips are good for heating the palms of your hands, providiing a heat source for the rest of your hand. I never felt the need for them until I turned the half century. With good wind deflectors you don't get the windchill on the back of your hand, so the warm blood from your palm goes further before turning to ice. Thick gloves can be combersome. From 16-50 I went without heated grips, eventually wised up.

Re: 2013 Oxford heated grips

It does appear that the benefits of heated grips on a bike may increase along with the age of the rider. I tended to cynically view them as a bit of a pointless gimmick, until I bought Triumph Tiger that had them fitted O.E. which was, coincidentally, just before my 51st birthday. When used in conjunction with hand/brush guards they work well enough to keep my digits toasty and I can ride in fairly lightweight gloves throughout the year, since "discovering" their benefits.

I've also just gone a bought a pair of Oxford Adventure grips for my S10 too, as the Yamaha grips were far to steep a price for me to pay............ and by a bloody long stretch too (£286..... Hells teeth Malcolm!). I'll get round to fitting them as soon as the snow up here stops and the temperature in my shed gets somewhere above freezing.

Re: 2013 Oxford heated grips

I had never bothered with them, or used any until past 40, I tested a BMW GS with them on, the weather was quite good (about 14c) and there was "no need" for heated grips, but of course you have to play with the gadgets.

I was surprised to find I liked them even in the relatively mild conditions, found they got used a lot on my GS pretty much year round, handy if the weather changes whilst your out, or when setting off early on a summer morning, also means I rarely need to change gloves anymore - somehting that can be a pain if the weather is changeable, or on Mountain roads where it can be >30c at the bottom of a pass and <10c at the top.

I'm all for them! Had the Oxford wrap-over type on my last bike. It made a world of difference when the desert temps dipped down low.
So to get back on topic.. :) ....I've been looking around the net for the Oxford Adventure grips but have only been able to find them in Europe on eBay. That would make it about $150.00 (US). I think someone asked before me, but, does anyone know of any US dealers? Might save a few bucks on shipping...

Their HQ is about 800 metres from where I am sat now, not that that helps anyone, just saying :)

Drop them an E-Mail, they speak the same lingo and can probably give you details of US importer(s)

Spoke to Twisted Throttle who is a authorized dealer and they have no knowledge of the new products.

Re: 2013 Oxford heated grips

Holy crap ... I spent the night in a freakin snow cave ... I dream't of heated grips in fact anything and everything that might keep me warm. I'm back in the relative comfort of a poorly heated apc at the moment but at least we've got some hot food ... mre's actually ::)
When I get back to our European base I'm going to see if I can get leave and visit a bike show where I'm hoping to buy the Adventure Grips for the XT. They will be less expensive well they were when I bought my Sports versions in December.

Re: 2013 Oxford heated grips

I just installed these new Adventrue grips. I splurged and paid $147 to my door in NY, purchased from a vender on ebay in the UK. (intogearltd I think they were called). Fantastic service, I got them here and on the bike within 6 days. Maybe I paid more to get them, but they are still way cheaper than the Yamaha set up, and they work great. The switch and electronics are all new and operate differently, so hopefully any problems they may have had with the old ones crapping out are overwith. They are the right length, and went together easily. I like them. Maybe they will eventually be sold in the US.
