Fed, I think he can just have the bike on the side stand to put the spacers in the centerstand...
I was wondering if that would work. Thanks, Scott.scott123007 said:Fed, I think he can just have the bike on the side stand to put the spacers in the centerstand...
Confirming that it does. I did it that way no problem.fredz43 said:I was wondering if that would work. Thanks, Scott.
Why do you take your altrider plate off?? I can change my filter without even loosening a bolt. If you run the short filter, that is (HF204, can't remember the Yamaha number off the top of my head).HoebSTer said:Mike, most skid plates require removal for an oil filter change. I just did my oil change with the ALtRider plate. Removal time, oil/filter R&R did it in about 40 minutes. That is way quicker than sitting in line and the oil change at a jiffy-lube for a car. Geez!!!
OH, the plate JaimeeV posted looks good.
You just may be I got mine I on the 16th.True Grip said:Anyone else still waiting for their skid plate ordered off eBay? Tell me I'm not the Lone Ranger.
They had to build yours... special. OTrue Grip said:Got it today. Shipped the day before yesterday.
Works with altrider crash bars. I replaced the aluminum spacers for the front of the skid plate with three double-sided-taped together thick washers so the front mounting machine screws engaged the threads to the same depth. Be very careful there. I stripped out 3/8" of thread into the block on one side by cross threading the screw. What a mess. I'll helicoil it if it pulls out or loosens up between checks.Dcc46 said:Does this skid plate work with alt rider or givi crash bars?
Works with the Givi engine guards also.Dcc46 said:Does this skid plate work with alt rider or givi crash bars?
Can't speak to AltRider ease but this one is very easy - 4 bolts. Install / removal is done on the sidestand; the two centerstand bolts get reinserted to put the bike up on the centerstand.sierraoffroad said:how hard is it to remove this skid plate for an oil change vs altrider??
I thought I measured the supplied bolts at 40mm...did I screw it up? I was thinking about getting 45s but couldn't find a good set with the proper thread pitch and strength.BWC said:Works with the Givi engine guards also.
I ended up getting slightly longer 12x1.25 x40mm bolts to allow for the extra depth of the Givi bracket that mounts there also. The supplied bolts will work, but your not using the full thread depth available with the Givi setup.
Also found the skid plate, steel mounting bracket needed a bit of fine tunning to clear the bottom of the stock exhaust on mine. Makes installing the two bolts at the mainstand location easier.
