The next thing that we updated was the rear rack. Some folks took their engineering degree and decided that the reinforced compost stock rack was not strong enough(plenty strong enough) for our rear rack so we took care of it 100%

Here is it mounted to the bike.

....and with the QRPD plate.

For those of you that have purchased the earlier version of this rack stay tuned. We have something for you :)
Jesse Luggage, staying tuned but losing faith. Any chance you'll be coming through on this commitment in the next few weeks, or should I return my old version rear QRDP rack (never used) for a refund?

Thanks!

In all fairness, just give them a call on the phone. I have always gotten replacement parts and answers to questions very quickly. This is a very small shop ran by guys that are better at welding than updating a Twitter account.

Al Jesse has been very busy dealing with some unfortunate family issues the past few weeks. I have spoken to the the folks at the factory to see if I can help this a long. Once I get a count of how many are available I will set something up for everyone that has been waiting to get theirs.

Well, the trip to the Yukon and Alaska is over. Two bikes each equipped with the Odyssey II side cases. One of them, mine, also sporting the 49l top case and the new top case mount rack. We rode through two weeks of cold and very wet weather. Several days riding in all day rain. None of the cases leaked, and performance was flawless. I was very impressed with the lid storage system. I had my Warm and Safe heated jacket and heated gloves, Frogg Toggs rain gear, and pant liners liners all in the lids for quick and easy access. This worked great.

One issue did develop. About midway I noticed a cracked weld in the new top case rack. It did not worsen throughout the remainder of the trip, and had no practical impact to the flawless performance of the Jesse gear. My neighbor has a welding outfit and will fix it for me. But I did want to mention it. I see Al has had a family matter and hope all goes well with him and the crew at Jesse! Keep up the great work!

Sounds like a wet and wild adventure. I will bring this up with Al. If he feels like this is a one time problem I will set things up for folks to get the new rack sent to them.

Wet, wild not so much. We are also still waiting on the two "Grab Handle Eliminator Kits" we ordered when Sharon ordered her side cases. She sent a follow-up email but has had no response... perhaps Al is at the BMW MOA Rally? Are those shipping yet?

nice and skinny

i prefer tight, functional and bulletproof over wide and pretty. i went with the jesse racks on the tightest mount. made my first box. i was gonna go wider but figured an 8" wide pannier fits inside my rumbux crash bars. and well within my handlebar width. now that i have one made and mounted i can really see how i want to procede. im thinking i can add at least 2 inches to the height.

I've been holding off on purchasing a top case to go along with my Odyssey II system, primarily due to the currently available mounting system.

Is there any chance something might become available utilizing your Rear Compartment like the one shown on your site for the 1200GS? I would also be interested in your original style lockable quick release system.

I am looking into it as the rear rack has been changed.

From the boss:
It depends on how the topbox is mounted onto the rear rack...if user mounts it too far towards the "passenger compartment" then the "lid" would be more difficult to remove. So I would think prior to drilling the top box the user set it up and find the "sweet" spot to mount the topbox...That is the beauty of the product! User can make all the decisions to accomidate the use!

Some of you received the new style rear rack and I'm looking for some feedback. Please let me know what you think?

The holes didn't line up with the top piece, I had to use a tone of stand-offs to get rear rack in the same plane as my Jesse Sealed Compartment (over an inch). All that being said, it is better than stock, but I think it could use another design iteration.

Thanks for the input. I will forward this to Al(The Boss).

10% off for Yamaha ST folks

We were going to wait for Black Friday, but knew we’d be busy eating leftovers, so decided to start a little early. We’re offering a 10% discount thru the end of the month (November) to members of the Yamaha Super Tenere forum, for any of our ‘in stock’ Odyssey II pannier sets. This is not just for your Tenere, but also good for the second choice motorbike sitting in the garage.
Call the shop if you’re interested.

Well I will be busy eating leftovers on Friday as well. So I ordered mine today! Happy Thanksgiving! I am very happy that these are made-in-USA.
