You getting a lot more than just a few spacers. Have any of you looked for a 10x50mm fine thread bolt?

This kit will be available by the end of June.

Saddlebag Mounts:
1.Instructions have always been offered online or by email because they were originally done by a 3rd party.
That has changed this week as a part of bringing sales back to the factory.

2.Your saddlebag mounts came completely assembled with all of the hardware in the proper places.

3.If you look at how the mounts are designed by holding them up to you bike you will see that
they can be made to mount as close to or as far away from the bike as you want. And yes than can
be as narrow as advertised if you are will willing to do some trimming of the stock body work.
This is your choice. Do what you will with the spacers supplied.

There has been no mention of anyone sending an email or making a phone call asking for help. We are here for you :)

Jesse's are at least 3-7 inches narrower than the competition and to do this some mods might need to happen
with your stock body work, but not required!

Top Case Mount:
The part under the stock rear rack is a cast hard plastic with a woven fiber for added strength which makes it incredibly strong. With that said the top plastic part only becomes a spacer and not a structural part when adding the Jesse Luggage top plate. So leave the stock rack in place!!!!! We have available an added reinforcement plate to go with our rack that is now standard. If you have an earlier version that did not come with this part please call the factory direct and you will be sent one at no charge.
We do not drill the bottom of the top cases. This allows you to have the lid open in any direction that works for you.

If anyone has any issues with our products please give us a call, If your not happy we will do what ever we can to make it right including taking the product back. In almost 20 years we have tried to set the standard very high for motorcycle luggage and will continue to do so ::018::
1. I have had email correspondence and several phone calls with Al. I was not offered instructions by email. I was directed (without an actual link/address) to find your "EU site" and find directions there. I responded further stating that no one on this board (there is a thread about it) had been able to find those, and that I had tried and had not found them. Al chose not to respond to that at all.

Alright, I'm going riding now... I'm not going to nit pick the rest.

I will try the mount as you suggest.

Thank you,

Jan

Even with my HS diploma, I was able to mount these bags with virtually no delay; especially after Al emailed the PDF instructions to me. This is my 2nd set of Jesse's to date, if I buy another bike down the road, it too will get Jesse Bags. For all the wrangling I hear about on the forum, Jesse still makes the best product on the market. Be patient with his little company and you'll soon forget any issues you may have on the front end, by the years and years of solid performance that they will provide.

Vote Al Jesse for President.

In Jesse's defense, I have been very happy with my bags. I also needed the four 10x50mm fine thread bolts, but since I work in a manufacturing plant, and do alot of fabricating, it was pretty easy finding the bolts, and bolting everything on to achieve a total of 35" width on my bags.
I'm very pleased with the quality of the bags, don't really mind the "1200" built into the brackets, (don't really know why they even bother putting it there), and had very little trouble installing. I did not install the grab rails, and I did modify the plastic loops coming out from under the passenger seat, as it interfered with the install. I really like the ability to slide the bags forward, when by myself, or back when I have a passenger. It does make a difference in the handling department when they are loaded. Gotta keep that center of gravity centered! :)
I have an akropovic exhaust, and do not use the plastic heat shield.

All in all, I would definitly recommend these bags to anyone, looking for a good set of strong bags. I do not have the luggage rack, and cannot comment on it, but do feel the quality of their bags are right up there and consider them to be some of the best...

With Jesse Luggage being made right here in the USA and in house making changes to a product is very fast and very easy. Folks jumped on the band wagon to complain about the price for the $40.00 Grab Handle Eliminator Kit without ever seeing a picture of it or asking-What do I get for $40.00? Well this is what the updated heat shield looks like.

The heat shield is also available separately for $40.00 and it comes with some extra hardware ;)

The next thing that we updated was the rear rack. Some folks took their engineering degree and decided that the reinforced compost stock rack was not strong enough(plenty strong enough) for our rear rack so we took care of it 100%

Here is it mounted to the bike.

....and with the QRPD plate.

For those of you that have purchased the earlier version of this rack stay tuned. We have something for you :)

Now we are talking! :)

I was just about to go out and try remounting my top box to the oem plastic carrier cover... I was thinking, that thing is stamped 11 lbs capacity and the empty top box, QR plate, and hardware alone weighs 11 lbs on my scale. It also has no attachment at the rear. So I was heading out to do it, with trepidation. Stopped, came in here to ask if you had tested that set up (the one I already have) to any particular load, and on rough terrain. Really, it just doesn't seem as if it could work. So I came in to type up that question, and here was this new rack. What do I need to do to get it, fast? I am due to leave for the Tenere Rally in the Yukon. Oh, and my wife is thinking she'll buy a set of Jesse Oddysey II's as well. We just made a deal for her Tenere...

In that case, back to my earlier question, what kind of testing did you do with a 49 L topcase mounted on this:

configuration? What is the rated load capacity?

Again, there are no instructions or documentation for the top case and this mount, or at least none that I have received or been directed to. My concern is that Yamaha rate the oem fiber composite rack carrier cover to which this attaches at 11 lbs capacity, and your box and mounts weigh that empty. Further, this rack carrier cover is not attached to the oem rack carrier that sits under it at the rear, and I don't see anything in the kit I received that might address that. The only attachments are three bolts near the front. I am having a very hard time convincing myself that this is safe and adequate. But I certainly respect you guys. You say it is strong. How strong?

To be clear, I want to put about 20-30 lbs in this 49 l top case. I intend to ride on and off pavement, over potentially rough terrain. I don't want it to end up in the road, damaged, possibly causing an accident, and me left with no way to carry it. I need to know that you are confident in your assessment that this system is up to it.

Thank you!

Ok, thanks for the response. Al just talked to my wife and it looks like our order will make it in time. I very much hope to be able to post kudos at that time. I do really appreciate that you guys are jumping up in support of the product line!

Cool news on the rear rack. I will hold onto mine and update my review once the solution is out. How'd you know I had an engineering degree?
