I hear a lot how good these cans are, but there is very little info about them. I'm interested in 9" safari or 8" odyssey, but I can not find anything to convince me to spend $1500 on them, exept some guy on the Internet saying: " I bought them and like them". How do you expect people to make educated desition on spending that much money? How is your product better? I'm definitely not saving any money here, so there must be something great about them. Are they lighter then competition? Stronger? Slimmer profile? I'm interested in more info, then: "These bags rock".

Mike- For almost 20 years the quality, fit and finish has spoken for itself. Our website gives you some idea on how they are made. You found the right place to ask other folks opinions on Jesse Luggage.

I received mine today from my cdn dealer, they were well packaged and arrived without any structural damage....i find a lot of packages get banged around a lot in our postal system.
There is some serious tension on those hinges...very cool.
one of the bags does have a cosmetic flaw, nothing to serious but a few inches in length on one of the edges. does this look like the case was rubbed by something before packing or a flaw in the powder coat. i tried to clean it with little success.

Mike, one suggestion is to find someone in your area that has Jesse bags so that you can see them for yourself. It can be tough to buy before I try for something pricey. Fortunately, Jesses have been around for quite a while so there should be some nearby.

Good luck!

My wife ask if there's any padding (like some sort of back rest) on the top box? And is it only the safari model or is there an Odysey one? I like the angle better than the smooth one's

I think with an 8" wide bag you can be as narrow as 35". The smaller the bag the lighter they will be but your starting to split hairs here.

For that much money I need to know what I'm buying. I'm not being negative. Just need intelligent discription of your product. Some things may work for somebody and may not work for me. ::002:: thank you for your responses and good luck.

Been out of contact for a while, but the update on my order was all positive. Received luggage and had them installed in a very short period of time. I really like the fit and finish, quality job. Also, used the buzz words on the freight charges which worked out very well. Very happy with the purchase. ::014::

Hi, Limey. I do believe they make quality strong luggage. Now I want to know if they will work for ME. I need dementions so I can make simple mockup and see what I can fit in them. I need to know whether they are simetric on the bike because I don't like lump sided look of Touratech ones. What is capacity per side( I can see from pictures, that left is less) . Before I use them on my trip I want to know how much weight I'm adding to the bike so I don't overload my Ugly Bird (yes. I call her that :D )
What I don't understand is why am I getting accused of "splitting heirs" after very simple inquiry.
It would take one hour and six pack to find out all the dementions of all the bags they make. Why not do it ones and have that info handy? :-\

Well I weighed the basic rack and bags before I installed them. Rack was 11 pounds 5 oz, left bag and mount was 13 pounds and right bag and mount was 13 pounds, 7 oz.

I had the 8" Safari's on my F650GS. They were a good size for touring but would not hold everything I "needed" if we were camping. I find the top area of the bags are useful for packing rain gear and extra layers that you might want to access without unpacking.

To compare, the Givi crash bars weigh 12.5 pounds and the SW Motech skid plate weighed in at 8 pounds.

A quick thanks to Jesse for getting me the new tail rack before they were really ready. I have it mounted up with the top case and will show it off at the First Annual North American Super Tenere Gathering. Hoping to make it out the door this morning, so this really will be quick!

It weighs in at 5 lbs 2 oz. and is rock solid. A huge improvement.

In my opinion, the upper deck could stand to be another 1-2" farther back and the unit could stand to lose half it's weight, but still, I love it. I would also take advantage of the 5th mount location, for added security, e.g. add a fifth mount bolt in the center.

Here are a few pics:

Rear view. Don't worry, everything is square and plumb, just a lot of lens distortion on the phone cam. And yes, I put the passenger grab rails back in, and reinstalled the pillion seat.

Side view, before I moved the sticker. I previously had the box mounted the long way, now in the more standard configuration. You can see the rack well in this image.

Side angle view. I have the box mounted as far rearward (back) as is possible with this set up. The holes in the front of the box are placed just far enough off the edge to mount a small washer with the bolts, about a 1/4". Never the less, the front of the box overhangs the pillion seat just slightly, and the mount plate (which is probably unecessary, set flush with the front of the rack, sticks out into space.

Once again, thanks to the team at Jesse. I was really struggling here, and you made this work!
