Ordered a set today. None is stock, have to wait on the powder coater to get a color of choice. As Henry Ford would say "Any color you want as long as it's black". Hope it will not be to long of a wait.

A bit? That's an understatement. I got one of the first sets, and when I complained to XplorerMoto (then distributors) that I couldn't mount the racks tight (ie without grabrails) as advertised, Rick sent me more spacers - gratis. IMHO these spacers should be supplied with every kit, so that the owner can choose what kind of mounting they want. $40 is completely silly.
+1 my thoughts exactly. I was getting ready to buy these panniers and had intended to mount them without the grabrails as advertised. But $40 more to accomplish that , I think not.

I spent about $10 on a couple of spacers, a few washers and bolts at my local hardware store to mount mine without the handrails.

$40 seems a bit steep for what will probably 4 (or possibly 6) spacers and a equal number of bolts.

I am very, very happy with the Jesse bags however. They are build like a brick ****-house thats for sure.

Seems to me if they were advertised to work without the handrails that hardware should have been included. It, in my opinion, should be complimentary for those that have purchased them and then they can change their site to add $40 as an option if someone wants the kit for new orders...
or at least choose at the time of ordering...

On a properly engineered product I don't expect to have to run to my loca lhardware store to buy washers then fiddle around to make the product work as advertised.

The Jesse luggage for the Super Tenere has been on the market for at least 6 months and they still haven't even produced proper instructions.

Would I be stepping into something by placing this order??? I would hope not. Just like a blind date.

The Jesse bags are wonderful. However the other details/bits leave something to be desired....instructions..ha! Luckily I found a copy on Rick's Xplorermoto site. The mounts themselves are fine, but since they advertise that you can mount the bags either with or without the handrails, hardware should be provided, without a doubt.

I knew that the additional spacers were not supplied to mount without handrails (from other posts here) so I was not surprised. Same with the lack of mounting instructions, however that is a BIG oversight on Jesses' part. Heaven help you if you are one of those unfortunate souls who can only handle 'plug & play' type instals as this would drive you crazy.

Hey, perhaps the folks at Jesse are reading this and since mine were just order they will step up and send all the material needed to mount the paniers. Think that will happen . I'll keep everone posted to what happens in chapter 2.

Sorry for the late reply. I was at a motorcycle rally last weekend and I'm taking a family vacation this week. I have been on the phone with Al to work out the spacer issue both with the mounting and the grab handle. I hope to have this resolved next week.
Cheers,
Chris

Dear Jesse Luggage,

Thank you for joining the board, and welcome to our little corner of the world.

Let me echo the thoughts others have expressed here: The side cases don't mount as close as advertised, with or without the hand rails. Extra hardware was promised months ago to remedy the issue, particularly without the grab rails, and has not been forthcoming. Now you say you will charge for it. :-(

The top case mount is unusable. I had to make my own, and it is still not right. For the price I feel badly burned on the top case. See here: http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=3969.0

The cases themselves are nice, although I don't feel as nice a job in fitting them to the bike was done as with my wife's F 650 GS Twin, resulting in wasted space, a less sturdy mounting system, clearance issues around the muffler heat shield. I really don't think you thought things through for this bike like you did the F 650 GS.

The lack of instructions is absurd and completely unacceptable, and Al's claims of some EU site having the instructions, that no one here on this board has ever been able to find, are salt on the wound.

The result of all of this is that I purchased a project, not a finished product, and although the cases will likely work out for me in the end they do not meet the advertised specifications and your overall performance is unacceptable.

Hopefully your appearance here reflects a commitment to the Super Tenere product line and you will step up to plate.

Sincerely,

Jan Barbas

Hello all,

I bought the Odyssey 2 Pannier system from Jesse luggage.

After several missed shipments and some shipping damage it was 29 days from when I was charged until I was made "whole". Jesse luggage is a small business and I am sure they are trying to meet demand. From a customer standpoint it seems the person who charges credit cards is on their game but the other aspects of the sale were frustrating to say the least. From what I hear xpolrmoto was great to deal with so I have no idea why they were cut out of the loop.

This being said I am very happy with the quality of the system. Having done some fabrication myself the quality of the components and fit and finish is impressive.

As far as fitting without the grab rails goes I don't see how that is even possible regardless of how many spacers one has. In my instance the left mount touches the heat shield (ever so slightly) even with the grab rails in place. I left the grab rails in place and am happy with the overall width.

I am also not a big fan of the "1200" moniker on the mounts and asked for a set without this "feature" but was told it was not available. It would be nice to have that option.

Overall I would buy again and feel I got good value for the money. The bags and mounts are very robust and I don't think anything else out there is as sturdy once installed. Above all else I think the Odyssey system is superior to other pannier options out there.

Andy

You getting a lot more than just a few spacers. Have any of you looked for a 10x50mm fine thread bolt?

This kit will be available by the end of June.

Saddlebag Mounts:
1.Instructions have always been offered online or by email because they were originally done by a 3rd party.
That has changed this week as a part of bringing sales back to the factory.

2.Your saddlebag mounts came completely assembled with all of the hardware in the proper places.

3.If you look at how the mounts are designed by holding them up to you bike you will see that
they can be made to mount as close to or as far away from the bike as you want. And yes than can
be as narrow as advertised if you are will willing to do some trimming of the stock body work.
This is your choice. Do what you will with the spacers supplied.

There has been no mention of anyone sending an email or making a phone call asking for help. We are here for you :)

Jesse's are at least 3-7 inches narrower than the competition and to do this some mods might need to happen
with your stock body work, but not required!

Top Case Mount:
The part under the stock rear rack is a cast hard plastic with a woven fiber for added strength which makes it incredibly strong. With that said the top plastic part only becomes a spacer and not a structural part when adding the Jesse Luggage top plate. So leave the stock rack in place!!!!! We have available an added reinforcement plate to go with our rack that is now standard. If you have an earlier version that did not come with this part please call the factory direct and you will be sent one at no charge.
We do not drill the bottom of the top cases. This allows you to have the lid open in any direction that works for you.

If anyone has any issues with our products please give us a call, If your not happy we will do what ever we can to make it right including taking the product back. In almost 20 years we have tried to set the standard very high for motorcycle luggage and will continue to do so ::018::
