Yea guys, This is going to be a nice set up from Ohlins. Ohlins has an awesome rear shock with different spring rates, with remote preload adjustment availiable as well. This new front cartridge system is going to be a game changer. Also custom for each riders weight. Lots more in the works.... ::26::

Sweeet. I usually do suspension on a bike first. But this bike got crash protection first then luggage then rode getting the feel for it. Suspension is coming and I'm glad Ohlins is bringing their game. Our suspension although not bad will be no comparision for the aftermarket stuff. Those cartridges look great. Man i have spent more money farkling this bike but I've enjoyed it more than any I've had. Well that cl125 i had at fourteen years old was pure freedom. Funny how life comes full circle

Gosh - glad there's another player in the S10 suspension arena. I'm glad I held off on the front forks, so now I can wait and see how this setup pans out...

Are you going to let folks install the fork valves/springs themselves, or require that a) they ship them to you, or b) you only will ship to a reputable suspension shop. I guess my biggest hangup at the moment for the penske front valves and springs is that I've got to disassemble the bike and leave it suspended on a floor jack for a week until I get them back from PA. All things aside, I'd rather invest in the required tools shown in the service manual. I'd only do that, however, if someone did it first and put together a detailed pictorial of the experience, start to finish. Even if it takes me 5-6 hours the first time to do it myself, at least I'll understand the process and learn something...

That said, i assume the cartridges will be more spendy, but an easier install (do most swap springs out with cartridges, too, maybe increasing install complexity?). the valves & springs, which take more work, are probably cheaper but require more disassembly.

Here you go...

I guess this is how the bike would be parked if we had some futuristic, no gravity, space scooter... ;) This is how the bike is sitting now because we are now an official Ohlins dealer, and already off to have the magic performed on them with new test parts. We are going to stick a set of these in there and start riding them...

Its still early, but will be posting reports on the new units. Ohlins is committed to the Tenere and we are proud to work with them. Hopefully by the first of the year we will be offering two separate custom tuned fork kits for the front end and the completely tunable rear Ohlins rear shock.

~ Rear shock
~ Cartridge kit
~ Valve / spring kit

If you have any question feel free to let me know. We are going to offer great pricing for the Tenere crowd ! Call me...........
When are you going to announce pricing?

We should have some numbers after we get the first set installed. I hope to have pricing and taking orders in the next few weeks. It's going to be seriously nice ride.

There are a few things we don't know yet. The spring / valve kit is probably better off to Ohlins and we are looking for the cartridge kit to be available to the customer to install. It's pretty much a drop in unit. But again, there are a few un answered questions we don't know yet about the factory forks. Hope to have those answers very soon. Also get some pricing so we can start taking orders for the folks that want the setup. Going to be a total transformation !!

Karson,

The service manual does not cover changing valves. This means Yamaha doesn't even trust their approved service dealer network to do the work! It really isn't about "special" tools. It is more about advanced techniques and understanding what is going on as you work on the actual cartridge assembly. I have done a few alone side Nick at Stoltec. The special techniques and attention to detail is really critical. I know he told me he used to sell the valve kits to individuals. He was so inundated with phone calls and emails trying to troubleshoot those customers' installs that it became a losing proposition.

The Ohlins solution looks very good. Traxxion offers the AK-20 setup that is similar. Either of these would be "plug and play". A cartridge is a great solution for a DIY-er.

I really like the cartridge set up. Perfect application for someone like me, enough skill to be dangerous ! Can't wait to get it, count me in. Hope the price is REALLY good since my wallet is pretty thin after adding all the goodies the aftermarket has to offer.

Thanks Jaxon.

Cartridges will be the way to go for us laymen. There are some on here who grasp suspension enough to shim the valves properly but im not. 600lb bike ridden on two track to interstate, stripped or hard luggage, to luggage loaded for two up . That is a wide spectrum.

I'm curious as anything to see what Jaxon can put together for price. Traxxion AK-20s are ~$1000-$1200 I believe. Historically, Ohlins has been more pricey, but Jaxon has been known to work miracles!

I have done biz with Jaxon on several things, have always felt I was given a fair price with great quality and excellent service. I am confident Jaxon will do a great job and we will be the better for it.

You can bet they are going to be competitive with the other companies. I would assume they are going to be north of 1k. But I'm sure they will be top quality.

They are working on them now.. I will fill everyone in on the progress.. Anyone that is seriously interested in the Ohlins let me know. I would like to get an idea. We are talking with Ohlins to see if there is enough demand to have them made in Sweden, or if the demand is low, then they will be hand made in the US and not as quickly available... PM me, let me know....

Of course there will be lots of pictures and ride report with the new front and rear... Any questions feel free to let me know, Thanks

Jerry, I got you on the list already...

Have you seen my Space Scoot ?

Can we expect the "parts" to be under or over $2000.00?

Rear shock and front cartridge\springs. I suspect it would be pretty close to that?
I hate you for doing this. :)
