Can we expect the "parts" to be under or over $2000.00?

Rear shock and front cartridge\springs. I suspect it would be pretty close to that?
I hate you for doing this. :)
Thats 'my' thought..... You might hate me... :D But you will LOVE the bike EVEN MORE when you get the parts on... Just like Justin Wilson use to say " I guarantee " I miss that dude............

I am interested in Ohlins front and rear.

How adjustable is the suspension if a rider gains or loses, say, 30-50 pounds?

I know you are looking for an official answer, but I would WAY more adjustable than your stock suspension.

"Not Really".

With regards to weight, the number 1 thing that changes would be the spring weight. Front is more sensitive than rear.

Stock, front and rear, suspension max's out abut 225 pounds and stock luggage with tools.

Upgraded the rear spring to an 850 pound spring (OEM is 750 pound) and now use +6 clicks preload (from zero clicks). A click is one full rotation of the rear shock preload adjuster.

I am wondering what the rider weight and load variable is for the adjustment of the rear shock and forks.

OEM rear spring is actually just shy of 700 lb/in.

Yea, It looks like I will be on the 850 rear as well... Im about 180-185.... about 200 with gear. Im not sure what they are going to start off with in the front. We spoke today and bounced around some ideas and how / where I ride.....

You will have A LOT more than stock.. If you decided to move forward with this we would work with Ohlins to get you the best spring rate for your weight and where / how you ride the bike... It should be 98% dead when you get it.. These are all set up for each rider......

Ohlins likes that heavy rate. For your use, since you get to enjoy the dirty side of the Tenere in Texas, you will probably be very happy.

Bring everyone up to speed.. The forks have been torn down at Ohlins, and they have started bringing in special parts for building the Ohlins cartridge system. One of the fork legs have been shipped back out to one of there custom vendors to have the first of its kind top caps machined for the Tenere. All the internals are 100% Ohlins and new. I got word today that there will be ten (10) sets made. I already know of a few going to customers. If you are truly considering going this direction please contact me so we can have the parts availiable for you.
While they wait for the one leg to come back from getting the top cap machined, they are starting to work on the new valve/spring set up to work with the stock cartridge. There will be two different front end systems availiable.
Until next time... :) Going to be a GREAT ride !

Jaxon, I'm in. My suspension is all original, and will have 60k miles on it by tomorrow. What's the re-build frequency for the rear shock? How much down time for that?

Thanks,

Chris

Caps for the Ohlins cartridges are almost done. The other internals are being fitted and almost done. While the forks are pulled out I dropped the triple tree out to eye-ball the bearings and grease. I was a little hesitant about it because the bike is only one year old. I thought this was the best time being that's its all torn down. There was grease on the bearings but the type they use looks like it melts into liquid. You can tell there is "gu " on the bearings but its liquid juice. I also noticed it had thick black crap at the bottom rear of the triple trees where this Gu had been leaking out and collecting dirt and grit. Also on the top dust cover.
So for sure they where pulled out and given a good cleaning. After everything was cleaned tip-top I could see that in the bottom race where the bearings had begun to make black wear marks only where the bearings had been resting. The races where not worn-per-se but they are stained. Over a long period of time Ive seen bearing races break because of this. I spent about an hour packing and lubing up both bearings and races, then reinstalling the trees.. After it was all cleaned up this is all you can really see. Im really glad I pulled those suckers down, they needed that liquid crap cleaned up and real lube installed... If you cant ride for months because of winter you might consider pulling them apart and clean all that up... I use some Mobil-1 SYN lube.

Also put a zerk in the steering stem, you won't have to pull them apart again
I'd be interested in a how-to in a separate thread if possible?

That would be a ton of grease in there but a good idea. Karson, the seek fitting install is very easy. It's the same as installing one in the shifter. You will want a 90* so can get to it. I'm not installing one because I want to check the bearings & races. Also if you fill the whole steering steam that's a ton of grease sitting up there.

It's not really a ton of grease, usually around 3 to 4 ounces at most. The stem takes up most of the space. Used to do this on all my motocross bikes. Never had to worry about the bearings

Just want to bring everyone back up to speed... Ohlins originally thought they had all the parts in the US to take all the measurements and have these cartridges ready to test in about two weeks. After tearing down the forks they realize they needed a few parts from Sweden and then to have those parts CNC machined for the Tenere. The Ohlins top caps are being machined for the Tenere forks as well. The Tenere cartridges are made just for the Tenere.. We are close to being done with them and I should have my forks back the first of January.

There are ten sets being machined and made up.. Five of those sets are called for with deposits. There are five sets remaining. If anyone is thinking about these feel free to call or ask any question you like about them. If you would like a set feel free to contact me. After these ten sets, the production of the Tenere cartridges is up in the air and so is the availability..

Ohlins is also going offer the 'slick' coating for the tubes as well. They have two options for coating TiNi (gold appearance) or DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon, black appearance) The gold is much better than stock but softer than the black, and the black is much harder, last a long time.

If you have any questions just let me know.. Thanks

How much cost for last a long time?
We should have some firm pricing on everything at the first of the year..
