AC, I couldn't stay in the unknown, so I pulled off the right fairing to make sure. My ECU is DENSO ref 23P-8591A-70 (2013 S10).
I understand you were working with Chris (Flash Tune) on the specifics of the -70 ECU. Did you progress in your quest for a better world for the -70? Is there something I can do either with you or with Chris to get it finalized? You can PM me.
Phil
Phil,

I'll send you a PM with a status update.

The gist for everyone else is that the ball is in Flash Tune's court. If you want flashes for the -70 ECU...pester Flash Tune to get the file uploaded.

AVC,
I'm a daily rider/communter, even in this unusually cold Virginia winter. For planning purposes, I'm curious as to the turn around time once you receive an ECU.
Like many, I have to weigh the benefits/results (which sound exterley possitive) with the disadvantage/loss of time out of the saddle. If possible, I'dl plan the reflash around a time I know I won't be able to ride (family vacation, travel for work, etc.)
Thanks, CB

If we schedule it. ..1 day. Up to you to pay the shipping so that speed is as fast as your wallet.

New shipping policy:

All ECUs MUST include a pre-paid return label. If you use the USPS and you go to the physical PO, they can't seem to figure this out. A pile of stamps is NOT the same as a pre-paid label. Use the same computer you are posting on this forum with to go to USPS.com and buy your pre-paid labels. One to send it to me, and one to fold up and throw in the box for me to send it to you.

Shipping is by far the longest pole in the tent on the ECU flash process. I suggest small flat rate box, 2-3 day Priority Mail, insured for $1k. This is $18.30 each way paid for at USPS.com.

If USPS upholds their portion, we should be able to squeeze downtime less than a week. I only need the ECU for a few hours. The rest is the trucking.

I dropped off at USPS in NW Indiana on a Wed morn, and had ECU back by Monday! I consider that turnaround amazing. Trouble is, so much snow I can't enjoy the results.

Too bad the frigid weather in the East will not help the happy recipients to share their impression right away...
But if you have got a flash from AVC, and tested it, please tell us how it feels!

One of them is on its way to Washington state. Maybe the weather is nice enough out there?

Doh! I'm responsible for the "new" shipping policy. Anthony at avc said include a shipping label, so I stuck a post it note on the ECU with my address on it. Slow on the uptake. Should have been a pre paid shipping label. Can't wait for the brain surgery ECU to arrive in Washington. I'lI keep you posted. I've been running the CJM for over a year when the HoebSTer had a handful of mini fuses in his hand and we slapped one in.
We are having a very mild winter this year with excellent pre dominant high pressure riding conditions. Skiing sucks, but throttle twisting has been great. A very fair trade off.
Anthony is solid and fast. He's been a pleasure to do business with. Ride safe. Barry......AKA howie ronic (how ironic)

Nah, it wasn't just you. I've had 2 of these also (names covered to protect them from public ridicule):

The reason I want pre-paid shipping labels is 2 fold.

1. I don't have to worry about charging for the shipping, and you know I am not making money on the shipping.
2. The shipping is the longest part of this process. By letting you guys pre-pay for it you are choosing the methods and you are also making sure there is enough postage and the address is correct. It just helps eliminate mistakes.

AC,
This sounds like an intriguing alternative to the ECU Unleashed option. One question though. One of the benefits that they tout is reduced engine braking, thus makng it a bit easir to ride smoothly. Does your flash take care of this as well?

Maybe it IS you. I found this notice in my mailbox:

Looks like you were $.80 short on that pile of stamps. I have no idea what is actually happening to the package...because they didn't bring it back to me.

My flash is NOT the same as the ECU-U flash. I have no idea what the ECU-U flash looks like inside the ECU so I cannot comment. I've also never ridden an ECU-U flashed bike. About the only thing I know I can compare is that ECU-U charges $450 and I charge $100. Other than that it's all anecdotal in reading people's reviews. I am pretty confident that one of my ramped throttle maps is very similar to ECU-U gen 2 S mode, but I can't guarantee it. If you want ECU-U Gen 2, pony up the money. If you want to "take your chances" for $350 less, send me your ECU. I'm a straight shooter. I don't candy-coat well.

My team got embarrassed off the ice on Sunday :-(.

I decided to check out one of these outdoor games when I saw these awesome seats selling for less than half face value on Stubhub. For reference, the face value on these seats was more than the same seat for the World Series!

As usual the camera makes it look further than it was. What a wonderful experience! I had about 6 layers of clothing on. Hot chocolates were $4 for a small and we drank them like candy.

With regards to Canadian flashing, that is underway. I have an ECU on its way to Flash Tune for "hacking". Once that is complete I will buy a harness and start flashing -40 ECUs (this is the only known Canada configuration, please let me know what you ECU PN is). I estimate this to still be 8-12 weeks out.

Sorry, not my pile of stamps. I only trade in bitcoin. Actually I didn't send anything but a post it note. I did include interest on the loan you floated me though. Hopefully my Broncs will do better than the Islanders did.
