AC

Roger!

That would be a great plan.
I will be in touch with you.

Would like to get this done in January as I am out of the country pretty much al of February. Would be ideal for me if you could do the flash in Feb so I am good to go I March when the weather warms up.

John,

I think we can figure something out you would be happy with. If you would like, come on up to my place one day and ride my bike. You can try out the three modes I have loaded into my bike back to back along with your bike and we can build you something that suits your needs.

You show up to my house with $100 bill and you will go home with a flash that day.

Re: Any Interest in a More Affordable Flash Option?

Happy New Year!
I have been seriously considering a flash for my S10 for months.
I run a full Arrow header and pipe, PCV with autotune and the CJM. The bike sounds great and is far snappier then stock but I am leery of running the CJM from what I have read here in the forums.
I love my S10 but wish for more pull (rode sportbikes) without worrying what the cjm may be doing long term....

There are many positive threads about the flash transforming the bike, I'm not sure how much of a difference I would feel with the modifications i have already done??? but I would like to remove the cjm with a better alternative, and hopefully stronger machine (second gear wheelies?? :) )

Can you help a brother from Canada ? :)

Well, with the CJM and a good Power Commander Map I doubt you would feel a huge difference - until your pistons melt / valves burn out and then the Flashed one would have a distinct advantage ;)

If pulling the CJM then there is a big difference as your back to having the fly by wire restrictions losing significant amounts of power below 5k in 1st - 3rd.

Either way the Flash seems like a fairly big win ::008::

Then I guess it is a good thing UPS/FEDEX/USPS are willing to...

What is the Part Number on your ECU? I'm not sure if Canada got US/Euro or even a special configuration.

Happy New Year Tenereista'sl.

I have been interested and was waiting to see the outcome of the flashes, now ac builds another flash. Good for him... and us. Trying to follow the Tech Talk and cannot remember what CJM is.

"Clutch Jumper Mod"

Essentially placing a jumper (fuse) in the clutch switch to fool the bike into thinking the clutch is pulled the entire time.

Thanks ac. I have the CJM but never knew the acronym for it. The CJM kept me from selling my Tenere. I don't need any more horse power or speed but I do want consistent predictable power. A powerband that can be ridden on road as well as off road.

The CJM is great to experience the Tenere without the throttle restrictions, but it does have its downsides:

If you like the CJM, I can flash your ECU to be very similar but without the timing "issues".

can you remind us, does this software allow for fuel and ignition changes? And, you are just changing the throttle action between the sensed position and the actuator position, correct?

The software does allow for fuel and ignition changes. The "flash" I have done for others was focused around lifting the throttle restrictions and making a more exciting throttle map. I also reduced engine braking in "S" mode a tad.

My original intent was to offer an affordable alternative offering all of the benefits of the CJM with none of the negatives.

I'd be interested in buying a package from you that included the flashing equipment and a base map. This would allow you to make a little off the interface and it would benefit those that would prefer not to ship their ecu's/have control over future changes.

You can buy that straight from Flash Tune:

http://www.flash-tune.com/?wpsc-product=07-08-r1-06-07-r6-ftdatalink-ecu-interface-kit-duplicate

The interface comes with access to Flash Tune's database of tunes, which includes the stock ECU flash so you can revert to stock if needed, as well as their "tune" for 91 octane fuel.

I would be interested, but my annual farkle allottment has already been exceeded by the suspension upgrade.
Maybe I'll see you at Nicks sometime and we can compare notes. ;D

I need to drop off the forks so he can upgrade them. Mostly likely Saturday Morning.
