And when/if you pass it on, you will pass it on to someone who has exercised their right not to be vaccinated against covid. So where is the problem.
1). Not everyone can take the vaccine.

2). Not everyone will have access, so people with access who refuse will increase risk for others.

3). I guess fuck all those healthcare workers who are going to live with lifelong ptsd from watching selfish assholes die of a preventable disease.

Jesus christ. Some of you are barely human.

And posting ignorant memes doesn't really add to the conversation either.

In my fantasy world, there aren't still people that don't understand that masks are to protect other people from the mask wearer's output, not protect themselves from intake. This has been a tactic used in many other parts of the world for decades, where sick people wear masks to avoid spreading the flu or a cold to others when they go out in the community.

I am going to be brutally honest here.

I am not naive about the character of my fellow countrymen. Hell my mother, who still lives, was born behind barbed wire in a US Internment Camp in ww2.

But with that said: I am both heartbroken and disgusted at the selfish and childish behavior from the vast majority of conservatives during this pandemic.

I dont know how we ever go back from this.

I am strongly considering expatriation to be honest. Not for me, but for my child.

This isnt the country i grew up loving. I mean, it is, but i had no idea who truly awful about half of americans are.

If all you can think about is “muh freedumb” while 200,000-300,000 americans die of a preventable disease....i dont know what to say to you, to convince you to care about others.

Does posting at all help anything here? Does fear mongering help anyone?

The reality is:

Humans are inherently selfish. You are not going to change that.

Masks aren’t working, not here, not in other countries that had much harsher lockdowns.

You aren’t going to keep society isolated. The younger generation does not see the risks. Nor have they seen the deaths. Hell in Idaho, there have been less than 60 people under 50 die from Covid or it’s complications.

The people that I personally know, that have hadCovid 19 have recovered, fully. And I’m tired of hearing about the long term debilitating after effects. It’s like a defecto scare tactic. Covid 19 has not been Out long enough to determine the long term effects.

Some people are affected so little that they don’t even know they had it. Are you going to force someone who has had it to be vaccinated? Why?
This doesn’t compare with wearing a helmet or smoking a cigarette. Those are obvious choices one can make. You don’t have a choice if you contract this virus. You could have a cold and give it to me, and I might die.

So do whatever you need to to assess the risk. If it’s wearing a mask-wear a mask. If it’s being vaccinated get vaccinated. If it’s isolating your self at home-isolate. If it’s moving to a different country-do it.

Understand though that this isn’t going away any time soon. Keep yourself safe.

Many people (myself included) do not produce antibodies when they have covid. I under stand that my T cells will help protect me from reinfection but no one is sure yet. Meanwhile, I’m sat here off work since July and a temp of 38c

This is a topic that evoke strong feelings on both sides.
Nothing good comes from pointing fingers - no matter which camp you are in.

Our opinions are a result of our back ground, experiences, basic beliefs and current life situation.
I have learned long ago that IRL the waste majority of people are nice and friendly - even those that I disagree with on most accounts.

Besides that it's pointless to argue on the internet.

As much as I agree with you, I just want to point out that i once got banned from ADVRider for a week or two by posting that very MEME photo and I did it in much the same context as you did.

Turned out that another inmate over there has a "challenged" daughter, took offense, and explained to the mods that after being with her all day, the forum was his escape. I had no idea till after being allowed back on the forum and when the mod told me I felt like shit, but understood.

Just a word to the wise. . .

I had a check up today and got shots for both the flu and pneumonia. Will get the first shingles one in a month and in my working life, we got shots for everything imaginable, similar to the military.

As for taking the COVID vaccine, I was talking to my daughter about it yesterday and asked again her thoughts because she previously said to not be in the first groups. Her response now is that SO many people will have had it before any of us (even her as a vaccine developer) that any potential side effects will be extremely well known and documented. In other words, just go for it when available.

Makes a lot of sense.

People are stupid though. Didn’t Winnebago have to put a page in their manuals saying you shouldn’t activate cruise control and then get in the back? Here in the UK, half the population voted to leave the biggest trading block on the planet so we could get a less favourable deal with Japan and the commonwealth countries, many of whom are very poor and still hate us because of what we did to them in the imperial days!

No. The Winnebago story is false, sadly. I always liked that good story as well :(

I know a guy that was so scared of getting ebola in 2014. He wouldn't drive from Louisiana to Dallas Texas because there was the only ebola case in the US there. :D

So help me understand. It’s ok to put up an offensive, derogatory meme? Putting one up about face masks isn’t? I guess I don’t get it.
