Had my S10 picked up today so my dealer can install:

Arrow full exhaust headers

Piaa 530 Driving lights

Flash my ECU via ECU Unleashed. Saves on spending $$$ on a PC5. Fortunately my Yamaha dealer is a licensed ECU Unleashed vendor.

Can't wait to get my baby back.

First mod since I bought it: SKB top case.

Cost: $60.

Case: SKB 3I-1309-6B-E Mil-Std Waterproof Case

I decided to mount this up using 1/4" clevis pins instead of screws, these clevis pins can be removed/installed with zero tools and they can never vibrate or wiggle loose. The fit is perfect and the case is rock solid. I'm eventually going to mount similar side cases, I just have to figure out the rack options for bolting the cases onto. Once I order it, a thin layer of eva foam will go into the bottom to prevent direct contact with the pins.

Why SKB, instead of Pelican? Just because I wanted a very specific size, and Pelican doesn't make that size, but SKB did. SKB has the same mil-spec ratings and is also made in the USA.

That looks really neat... do the clevis pins fit in the existing holes in the rack plate? 8)

Thanks.

Two of them line up, the other two I drilled. Neat 1/4" holes, I am ok with that.

If I made all four line up, it would put the case too far forward for my wife to be comfy.

Repaired the bottom of the crankcase in my new Tenere, lug supporting the plastic bashplate under the bike burst through the crankcase when I impacted lightly with a low kerb as I dismounted it, very bad design as it protrudes 3/4" or more under the bike making it very vulnerable, very good repair all the same.

Made the base plate for my aux tank install, reconfigured my Neutrino Black Box, downloaded the update for that, cut the templates for my "winter" hand guards, put the DOT reflective stickers on my bumots, started drilling my brackets for my fake baker air wings. Doesn't seem like a very long list, but it was super hot here.

Upgraded the front ergos - part 2.

Replaced Rox 1" up - 1" back risers with 2" adjustable risers

Added shorty levers - clutch and brake

Replaced stock clutch and brake top lines with the extended lines from RideOnAdv
For the last few years I've run the Rox 1" up and back risers with Pro Taper ATV Mid bars that are slightly wider and flatter than stock. This is an improved fit for me over stock and as much as you can do without extending the clutch and brake lines. I've wanted taller, adjustable risers to have the bars a little closer for highway cruising, then raised a bit for standing, but didn't want to buy and mess with extended lines. A friend who sold his Tenere had a brand new, uninstalled set of lines that he gave to me. That motivated me to buy the Rox 2"adjustable risers.

Rox 2" adjustable risers

I like the shorty and bent levers on my other dual sport bikes, so decided to try the offering from The2Wheels, a Chinese direct seller who knocks off some recognized Italian brand. They were $47 shipped and I got them in less than a week, so can't complain about that. The levers fit quite well, though I notice my clutch lever bushing is well worn. Lube for now. The levers seem well designed and constructed though I don't like the oval hole near the end. I'd like to plug it if I find something that fits. They are 3-finger levers, not 2-finger that I was hoping for. The brake is fine, but the clutch will still pinch my ring finger if I only use 2 fingers (same as stock). I am learning to quick shift by just grazing the clutch, so that I can do 2-finger.

I've been riding with the levers for a week already, they're adjustable, so still messing with that. Haven't ridden with the new risers yet. It's a fit thing, that's personal, so I'll find a street setting and a dirt setting after some experimenting.

As for the extended lines install - plenty of good info here http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=4072.0

It took me about 3 hours to do all of the above, no hurry, just enjoying some man cave time wrenching on my bike.

Just finished getting the Tenere ready for the NMBDR. With 56K miles, it got a complete maintenance treatment; repacked steering head bearings, valve adjustment, new spark plugs, air filter, brake pads and tires, lubed the swing arm, and changed all the fluids.

Ready to roll!

Hope you have a good ride Steve!! Tell us all about it when you get time. I didn't even realize there was a NMBDR I'm behind.

Bought mine ::015::

Not as clean as it was this morning as I got caught out in a hardcore downpour! She's a '12 but first registered in April 2013 with 16000kms only. I was given a Mivv exhaust with i, which I'm looking forward to hearing >:D This is the only picture I have, which is from the online ad, will post some more soon!

Installed Cyclops ADV LED Headlight kit! Install was very easy and the lights are a much brighter, whiter and wider pattern than stock incandescent. I am looking forward to taking my s-10 down some really dark back roads and even some off road to give them a real test. I only had time tonight to verify the lights are aimed correctly (they are) and then take a short ride to work on well lit roads.

and

Installed M-10 Mirror mount Ram ball mount.
