Can you please outline the grinder work required for the RumBux / AltRider combination - fingers crossed the alterations aren't toooo radical. A close up photo would be real nice ::008::

Got the Rumbux/Altrider combo mounted....not for the faint of heart. Grinder required for fitting.

I will have the skidplate frame powder coated to match the crash bars.

Eric, those zombies are going to find out how a Coastie can shoot!!

See ya there.
Glad to hear you will make it after all. A lot of surprises in store for the Zombie Killers. I also look forward to seeing your set up and how you had to modify it to fit. It looked like it would be ok, but until someone does it, you never really know. Depending on the modifications, it may be possible to have the future bash frames altered so this is not required.

Eric,

Recieved my lower Rumbux unit friday and got to work on it over the weekend. As Rusty mentioned there is a bit of grinding and in my case tig welding that was be needed to fit it right. Eric, if you are thinking of making this simpler for the next in line who will chose to use the ALTrider crash guards - all you would have to do is shorten the round frame on the left upper side by about an inch and extend the the metal bolting flange by the same amount. Like they say pictures are worth a thousand words. ::015::

I didn't have time to clean things up at this point. I have to go kill some zombies and have other preparations to make.

I will add more to this discussion after the apocalypse.......assuming we win.

BTW mine looks different than the other mod posted.

Rusty - Post some pictures of your mods when you get a chance! I'd love to see what you did to fit the combo.

For all the Rumbux owners, Sallydog scored some heavy duty clip nuts if you want to replace the nylock nuts on the skid plate with clip nuts so you can just use one wrench to remove the bolts for oil changes. No connection with his deal, but he has a nice for sale post on this forum. Comes up if you search on 'Rumbux' or posts by Sallydog. I've seen these before in person and they are much beefier than the standard clip nut, thus the extra cost.

started my panniers

i prefer tight, functional and bulletproof over wide and pretty. i went with the jesse racks on the tightest mount. made my first box. i was gonna go wider but figured an 8" wide pannier fits inside my rumbux crash bars. and well within my handlebar width. now that i have one made and mounted i can really see how i want to procede. im thinking i can add at least 2 inches to the height.

Ok guys, three are on board for this order, but it takes 5 sets to be cost effective on the shipping. If you're on the fence, now is the time to get them sooner rather than later.

Questions?

Ok, the order to Rumbux has been placed. I've padded it with a couple of spec units, so I can handle a couple more, but then it will be waiting until the next order builds to 5 people.

Ok guys, I received word this morning that the wire transfer for our order cleared the bank in South Africa on Tuesday and our order is well in progress. It is expected that it will go to shipping on the 3rd or 5th of November.

What that means is that it should be built, powder coated, foam wrapped and packaged in the crate at that point, and handed over to the shipping vendor.

The shipping vendor will put the crate thru a fumigation process and take it thru customs in SA, schedule it on a flight, ultimately ending in Las Vegas, NV and deliver it to the Virgin Atlantic freight warehouse. That part of the process can take a week or more, but every bit is progress!

This message also went out via email to the people on the order. If you did not receive that email, please let me know. I may have your email address incorrect.

Note: I do still have one full set and one lower w/skid plate unspoken for.

I think he ordered a couple of extra's. I would PM him or call him and see if he still has one available. They should be here in 2 to 3 weeks. They have been made and are now in the powder coating phase. Next week they will be going through the shipping process, which could take awhile, depending on customs, etc...

I was torn against this setup and the RideonAdv one. Both, to me, appear to be the best setups for the S10. Both of those units mount to the frame, which helps avoide the dreaded sump cave-in that has happened with some of the other skid plates.
