They can be had from Competition Accessories for $297.98 delivered. That is the H rated pair. Not sure I really need to spring for V rated. Have seen situations where the V rated version had less tread depth to make that speed rating, but not sure on these. Up to 130 mph sustained is enough for me on this bike. ::024::

I would love to be the guinea pig on this one, but I seriously doubt I am going to get much riding in before April...

About the same price from Adventure Designs.

My Metzeler Karoo are in and will be spooned on Feb 15 for my Death Valley trip. The Anakee 3 will be on very soon after this trip.

test video is up on Adv Rider under vendors. Tested on a BMW 1200 GS and the rider said they are better on the street than the Akn II and just as good on the dirt and gravel trails. He did note they feel more stable when cornering and did not tend to wander when leaned over as the II's. I was between these and Conti Trail Attacks so I go to try the III's. My TA's had 6000 miles on a KTM 990 that I just sold and I was not easy on the gas back and it still was in good shape!

Recently spooned on a set of A3's and went for a 1500 mile loop to Deal's Gap/Cherohala Skyway and surrounding backroads last weekend. Good test for the tires using highways, backroads and a little hardpack gravel. First thing I was happy about is they are much easier to mount than a K60! The sidewall feels stiffer than the Anakee II but levered on easily with a little lube (there's always time for lubrication) and a few four-letter words. Second, wet road handling is excellent as Saturday turned out to be soggy with occasional heavy downpours leaving standing water. I never once saw Blinky (TC1) in Sport, Tour or CJM while on asphalt. Painted lines and tar snakes are not a problem as they were with the K60s. And D, I felt very confident on the 30-40 miles of gravel I rode. It took a big handful of throttle to engage TC1 and a whole lot of front brake to cycle the ABS. Overall, I'm very pleased with this tire. They are an improvement over the Anakee II's and much more livable than the Heidenau. Here are a few pictures (N. River Rd. heading north towards the Cherohala), the last was 100 feet from the machine. Apparently, a bear will shat in the road as well.

Encouraging first report. I'll be interested to see what kind of life you get out of them. I know your K60 life was closer to mine, so I'm very interested to continue to hear about your experience.

No road noise with Anakees.
Agreed. Very quiet which is a welcome change. Another observation, turn in takes a little more effort than the K60 but much more composed mid-corner. Straight line stability at speed is improved so for you RickyRacers (non-Rumbux users of course) out there... giddyup!

Thanks for the report... I've been running the Tourance's... Not the EXP and really like them. Love the sport/Sport Touring feel of them. The EXP's stuck better but wore out quicker. I too like the Tourance on the gravel roads here in Western North Carolina. I live I Morganton, NC.

Hey Brick, I really enjoy riding around your neck of the woods. 181 north of Brown Mt Bch Rd to Jonas Ridge is one of my faves. You may recognize my profile pic is Old 105 heading towards Wiseman's View (Awesome!). Next time we ride Brown, I'll PM you and maybe you can show me what the locals are riding?!

Apparently there are two threads on the same topic.. I copied my info from the other thread.

I just managed to take pictures of my tires.  The Anakees shown have 6k on them.  We just got back from the MotoGP in Austin by way of NJ, PA, MD, WV, VA, NC, SC, NC, SC, GA, AL, FL, AL, MS, LA, TX, OK, AR, MO, IL, KY, VA, WV, MD, PA, NJ. )  The bike was loaded heavy for all of the miles ridden.  Both panniers, a top box and a dry bag on the passenger seat were all full and definetaly overweight.

Impressions...

On road these tires feel much better than the Anakee 2s.  Cornering at high speed in twisties is excellent.  We were riding fast enough to feather the edges of the tires and at no point did it feel unstable.  On the highway the tires are definitely a nicer ride.  Rain performance was also excellent as I got caught in what I would consider "monsoon" weather.  I also rode ~70 miles of dirt and gravel roads and they performed with no issues.

The tires look like they have a lot of miles left but only time will tell..

The front tire looks much more worn than the rear.

Rear.

Update I have 6500 on the tires now and they still look about the same.

Sounds like a great ride and this is the kind of review I was looking for. Now that we have some mileage stats this tire is starting to look like a winner.

Is it my imagination or is that rear tire wearing flat in the middle like a Tourance. If that's the case I'm going back to Anakee 2s if they are still around. Anakee 2 s wear nice and round all around. :-[

I've got a clapped Anakee 2 in my garage that DISproves that theory. I also have a clapped Tourance on my bike that proves it too ::024::

Any tyre is going to square off in the middle if you do alot of motorway (highway) miles. You can't avoid that, it's just normal :)

Disagree. Grabbed this off the web - Ours was much more squared off.

Like the others said, any rubber tire rolling on the road will wear where you keep contacting the road. Maybe you live on the edge more.
:D

(Just happened to remember this photo from a review, because the foot down looked so goofy for a 600 lb beast on pavement.)
