So anyone seen them? Info?

I've always been very fortunate when I run Michelin Anakee, both 1 and 2. Radical change with the 3 in terms of tread design. Should be interesting.

And, no, this isn't time to say Karoo, TKC, Heidenau. I'm spooning on another set of Karoo for my AltRider Taste of Dakar event in February and have well over 30,000 miles on Heidenau and about the same on TKC. ::005:: ::024:: ::025:: ::012:: ::008:: ::008:: ::008::

They are too new to find much in the way of reviews. With so much bare rubber between sipes (grooves) I'm going to be very interested to see how well they do in the rain.

On the flip side, Anakee 2 tires just went on sale and they've been good on the DL1000.

Look like a sports tyre to me, more like a competitor their own the Pilot Road 3, but with a small nod to dual purpose more for cosmetic than practical reasons. May as well go all the way and fit PR3 / Roadsmart 2 / Road Attacks as these always perform better on the street and almost as well as tyres such as Tourances and Trail attacks when offroad.

Road tyres always kick arse in reviews and comparison tests, a good one is here:-

If I fit another Dual Purpose tyre it would probably be the Dunlop TR91 which has won a couple of comparison tests in the UK press and fares well in the above review, and has been raved about by all wh have fitted them on forums.

I personally hated Anakee 2's, had then on a loan GS and they felt really horrible to me, I had ridden loads of GS' with Tourance / Touranc EXP / Battlewings / Roadsmarts and always liked the handling, some had more grip than others but the Anakee's felt horrible, I could not wait to hand the bike back.

Rasher,
Thanks for the link, that tire review was very informative. The lap times between the street tires and enduro tires was interesting. I wish they had included lap times of the off road tires too.

Would have been interesting, as would a basic off-road test around a simple gravel and / or dirt track, just to see if the Dual Purpose tyres have any advantage at all over the road stuff.

I really like reviews where they run the track test with riders of differing abilities as often you will find a tyre a pro sets an awesome lap time on, and Joe average hates it and goes quicker on a "slower" tyre.

I think for most mortal beings the feel and feedback of a tyre has a lot more to do with lap times than outright grip as I know I can't get near the limits of most tyres, yet I go much better on some types than others. I just ride better when the rubber "feels" good.

To be honest, I ride aggresively and I really can't tell any difference between tires as far as traction. I''m not counting sand, mud, or wet pavement as I live in a semi arrid climate. Tried Anakees, Anakee 2s, Tourances, Bridgestones and Shinko 705s. Some wear a little faster and some are a little noisier but tractionwise, no difference. Mostly ride rough pavement and gravel roads, fast. Our gravel roads are very well maintained. 208 kph indicated on a gravel road last fall not far from here, in a straight line of coarse. Corners much slower but usually spinning the rear tire as much as possible while staying in control. TC2 is a wonderful thing. Allows some spin without losing it. ::26::

This is very Interesting looking tire. Kind of futuristic. Judge Dredd would have that tire on his bike :D
As far as tire comparesing goes, I would not trust those people with a dollar. Just like any review there is a company paying for it and this company's product will allways come up on top. I would reather trust people on this forum, then those guys.

They're coming out on the newest water cooled GS. I don't think any are on the road yet.

Found a set for $310.00 (pre-order not in the States yet) at compacc.com. These look like the tires to have if a 90/10 tire is all you need. I thought the Anakee II tire handled well but it looks like the 3 has much more edge traction with better wet road adhesion (silica in the rubber).

Just got an email update from Motorcycle Superstore. The Anakee 3 is now in stock with our S10 sizes.

I just ordered my Karoo F&R full knobbies (through my local dealer Roseville Yamaha - they were cheaper) for my Dakar/Death Valley trip so I'll be ordering up some of these Anakee 3s next month to spoon on after my trip.

It'll be a couple months before I get any reviews up then so post up if anyone gets them sooner.

I just couldn't pull the trigger on the Anakee 3 and ordered a 2. I am anxious to hear some real world reviews of the 3 but for now it just looks too funky for me.

Could prolly research some beemer write-ups and see what they say, if anything, about the new tire. They're coming on the new wet head GS.
