Got a call back..... the guy did not know what I was talking about. I offered to send him pictures (from above in this thread). Hopefully it will make more sense to him after he looks at the photos.

I got the following back in an email:

"Rod,
Please forward me your address, we are going to get some of these on order for you"

I cleaned it out, coated the bolt heads and inner tube for rust protection.
What did you coat them with?

I've replaced 3 of the 4 side bolts with the original Yamaha bolts. They are longer than necessary, but won't rust. The fourth bolt could not be replaced because it would be pressing into a radiator hose. I'd like to coat that one with something.

I use Ospho for nuts and bolts, which is popular here in Florida due to climate. It's actually a metal treatment. You let nuts/bolts soak for just a minute and they'll never rust...again. Turns the metal gray though. The other nuts 'n bolts in the Givi kit have been fine. Should have done it in the beginning. I coated the inside of the tube with paint.

Also, I was looking at the bars this morning and the pipe ends where those end plugs would go is tapered at an angle more than half an inch. I'm not sure those plugs that came with the new set in the previous picture would hold in there.

Dang, spending $159 to coat one bolt for me is a bit more than I'm willing to pay. I'll need to think of something else.

Do you have a TruValue or ACE hardware near you? They carry it, or they can get it from their warehouse. I think they carry both Quarts and Gallon sizes.

okay screw it I couldn't wait for a reply, not even five minutes at 9pm Az time so I went ahead and ordered them. This waiting for my ST is killing me!! When my crash bars come in I am gonna run around the neighborhood with them going "Vroooom Vrooom" pretending like I am riding my new bike. What a dork.

Don'tcha love design changes? That unfinished look is what turned me off to the Givi bars. Looks better now.

Got mine yesterday & they do have the extra plastics. O0
Does it look like they have changed the design slightly of the opening where the plugs go in? The early ones had a slanted opening.

I did not notice any difference between the ones I bought in February and the latest ones. Just the new pieces of plastic.

That's good to hear. I should have some of the caps coming from Givi.

Thanks,
Rod
