Thanks for the idea!!!

BTW, did you post a thread on your road pegs? (too lazy to go look........) ;)
I can't remember if I made a new thread or posted in the "what did you do" thread.. Between the new seat, shield and the pegs, this has become a real touring bike ::26:: for me..
I can't believe how the bike has changed. Ok, it may be a bit of me and the bike. ::025::

My bars are first generation which are angled at the ends of the tubes. Doubt the end plugs will work on them. Oh well I never really looked at it as unfinished.

So which pegs are those?? ::001::
The pegs are Kury knock offs that I purchased on Ebay. The rest of the bracket I built.

I know this is an old thread, but I just installed by Givi crash bars last night. The only problem I had was that the hole for the small 8mm bolt that goes in the tab of the cross bar would not line up with the hole in the frame, even leaving all the rest of the fasteners quite loose. Kinda pissed me off because I had to extract the assembly to modify the tab. I ended up just drilling it out a bit larger and that did the trick. No problems otherwise.

I had read in this thread about the Givi fasteners that go into the recessed tubes rusting so I reused the OEM fasteners. The front left one is too long though. That's when I discovered that the metal spacers in the plastic OEM tip over guards can be easily pushed out. I slipped the spacers over the bolts and inserted them that way into the recessed tubes. Perfect length and should not rust.

For the engine mount bolts, I read that some folks were reluctant to tighten to the factory specified 54 ft.lb. but I went ahead and used that value with no problems. Being engine mounts I wasn't about to second guess Yamaha's engineers on this one.

Popped in the tube end plugs and the little "Givi" badge on the center side tube and I think they look great. The flat black finish goes perfect with the black side covers on my '15 ES.

Re: GIVI crash bars and Denali Soundbomb Horn installed clearance

I reluctantly pick up this old thread on Givi Upper Crash Bar installation.

I'm interested to know if anyone has installed these, and then installed the Denali Soundbomb horn (the uni model, not the "split" model) using the horn mounting bracket (both bracket and horn from Twisted Throttle).

The bracket / horn combo fit up nice 'n snug just under the right side OEM tip over protector.

I would desire to know if the Givi upper crash bar install, leaves enough room for this horn install?

I have the horn / bracket installed, and I'm thinking about the Givi crash bars.

I've been through the entire 17 pages, and I saw just one picture that kinda showed the amount of room around the OEM tip over guard and Givi bars.

It was not clear to me from that one picture, if this combo will work out.

Would someone please post some further pics of that area on the cycle's right side? I esp. need the view from the front, looking to the rear of the cycle, in between the tip over and the bars, so to give me an idea of how much room there is, under the tip over and between the pieces.

Thank You!

Hey,
I have the sound bomb installed with the original bracket - fits great right between the Givi bars and the ACD skid plate.
Don't have a perfect pic and can not take one right now either, since i have my bike torn apart - I bend my Givi crash bars and the mounting point after a crash on the right side (other post on here).
Will attache a pic and if you zoom in you can see the sound bomb.

Hope this helps!

The left guard's rear mounting point is perfect to add a short piece of steel with two holes to mount the horn. It'll tuck in tight between the base of the guard and the skid plate.

Gotta put mine back on at some point.

I don't have the cycle in front of me, sooo...

Checks, I checked (no pun intended!) that mounting position you're describing above.

That seemed a bit close to the left shin / knee area to mount a block of plastic / metal.

Would you really hang a horn there? We are talking about the rear most mounting hole of the *OEM* left tip-over guard, correct?

Thank You!
