I spent maybe 10 minutes on the phone this afternoon with ET. He walked me through the process and hooked me up with some serious peace of mind. Thank you Bloodline for letting all of us in on the deal and hoping nobody ever has to use it.

Thanks to all that have purchased. I'm hoping to score a free hat or a poster or something from my Uncle. :D

Any update for Florida owners?
Yes. Florida owners are screwed.

It must be some sort of FL state law. The warranty is available, but only at full retail price.

If you are in Florida and want to purchase a YES warranty below retail, you need an out of state address.

Wow, talk about a law that restricts commerce at the expense of the consumer.

exactly. Don't see how it's even legal. Yamaha has special procedures for selling the warranty to Fl residents. Forms have to be mailed and stuff...

That's interesting, I just got an email from YES offerring me the warranty at $690 for 4 years with 4 annual payments. Is the $690 full retail ?

Anybody purchased the YES after their warranty ran out? Just wondering if that's possible and how much more it would cost.
It's not difficult. Call ET, he'll walk you through it.

Another Reason I moved from that Sheet Hole State!!
After 30 years of growing up in Florida it has become a Carnival rip off fest, not the same laid back place I remember as a kid...
Question, if I have the YES that was transfered to me on a used Tenere can I buy another year or two extra?

Yes. Pricing depends on information you have not provided. Call ET. He can sort it out. Phone number on the first post of this thread.

Florida considers the extended warranty an insurance policy and you have to be licensed in the state to sell it. That's what I was told. I have also heard of Florida residents using a friends out of state address and buying it that way. Then if they use the warranty and anything is said, they just say they moved to FL.

? It's cheap to register a car or bike on Florida, plus we have no state income tax, and sales tax is 6.5%. I was born and raised here, even when I moved to Louisiana for 12 years, then came back it was cheap to re-register my vehicles. Louisiana, there is a rip-off state for registering a vehicle, especially if you live in NOLA. 10% sales tax, and to tag a vehicle is 10% of the current blue book value, even though you paid taxes on it when you purchased it.

Though I am with you on leaving, tired of the snow birds and Yankees trying to make it a mini-state of where ever the hell they came from. If there home state was soooo great, why did they leave? But it does suck that we have to pay full price for YES.

I am generally not a big fan of extended warranties, and they haven't worked out that well for me in the past.

Has anyone had a major failure and had it covered under extended warranty?

No major failures, but I had fork seals replaced at about 19,000 under YES after the initial 1 year warranty was up. I got a good discount on the YES plan and still have almost 3 years left on it.

So has that actually worked? I live down here and have thought about doing just that.
I especially want to get a warranty after just purchasing the shop manual and reading through it.
There is much more electronic sophistication than I even imagined. I think there are something like 9 sensors alone to monitor the FI.

I don't live in FL., so I haven't had any personal experince with it. The way I understand the law is that FL considers the EW to be an insurance policy and a dealer outside of FL can't sell insurance in the state. If you use a friends address in GA to buy the EW, it's in the system and I don't think Yamaha cares where you live. If you take the bike in for warranty work, I don't think the dealer would know or care wether you lived in GA or not when you bought the EW. I'm sure it's been done and I've never heard of anyone having any trouble. You might inquire over on the Gl1800 riders forum because I know it's been discussed over there. Honda Direct Line had stores in FL and OH and they are big discounters on Hondas EW's. http://gl1800riders.com/forums/forums.php
