Hey Bloodline...
Does your uncle do Kawasaki warranties for pwc's bu any chance?

Did you use to ride in N.Ga once awhile with local ds / adv.com guys? (Flux)
Get a ticket on 985 riding with a guy on a KLR?

no kawasaki and no, I'm not the KLR guy.

He can do any Yamaha machine. There is different pricing for smaller machines, 4 wheelers, etc.

I (think) I want to get the YES on my XTZ. My dealer gave me a quote of $620 for 4 years so this appears to be a good deal form a fellow member.

My question is; the YES warranty is only good at an Authorized dealer, so if you are on the road and have an issue does the YES warranty allow for reimbursement after the fact on repairs at a local shop? My dealer also offers a non-Yamaha warranty that (they say) is good anywhere and includes roadside assistance for the same price they sell the YES warranty for. Wouldn't that be the better bet for traveling and not near any Yamaha dealerships?

I am running out of time to get this added so any input is appreciated!

Stick to the Y.E.S. Warranty!!! If you are in the middle of nowhere, you are out there anyway, but there are plenty of dealers to fix any issues.

Having sold motorcycle third party insurance (extended warranties) I will offer these comments:
1. "YES" as well as almost all factory (Yamaha, Honda, etc) as well as third party warranties have a 100% mark up. Someone else said that also so I am confirming. So a 50% discount from retail leaves a dealer no recovery of his time. We used to add $50-$75 to the dealer cost of the extended warranty for loyal customers to cover admin costs.
2. Beware of third party warranties even those sold by dealers. There are a few good third party warranties (like Great Western) out there and more bad ones. Read the contract carefully. If the independent shop or dealer has to call and get advanced approval on every component, it gets to be a hazzle. The most important aspect is how long they might be in business. Nothing like buying a 3-4 year warranty from a third party only to find out two years later they are out of business or sold to another company that is not honoring the prior company warranty.
3. YES is Yamaha and one doesn't need to be concerned about them being around for the term of the contract and there is an extensive dealer network.

Getting close here. I can get the YES or a Zurich extended. Zurich seems better in that it works in Canada and other dealers. No bad reports on adv that I could see. Any suggestions?

Bloodline,

In my view, all is fair when it comes to commerce, Caveat Emptor and all that, so your earlier protest implying that this thread belongs to you is an interesting marketing position, but kind of bogus and a little arrogant to a simple guy like me. Arrogance really irritates me. Restriction of trade also irritates me but I can deal with it by going with the other guy. In fairness, your price is pretty competitive, but it's about a tank of gas or so for my bike, too high. If you had offered to price match, you probably would have gotten my business in spite of your manners, but you didn't.

That said, anyone on planet earth can get a "Genuine" Yamaha 4-year extended warranty for $379 from a legitimate Yamaha dealer in Colorado. Yeah, I know it's only $25, but it adds up, and in this economy, frankly, I don't know anyone who can afford to be charitable with everyone who asks. You'll have to fight for my business if you want it, just don't try to limit my options.

I have no personal stake since I already bought my warranty, I'm just trying to help my friends here on the forum. All they have to do is search a popular online auction site to find it. Maybe it's time for your Uncle to review his sales policies, eh?

I am by no means a reflection of my Uncle's sales policy nor can i make offers to price match. I have no dog in this fight. Just trying to spread the word.

I'm simply trying to help some folks out. Warranties around here are more like $750-$800.

You CO folks are lucky in a lot of ways.

How this thread differs, IMO, is it offers specific instructions including a name, a price and a phone number and it's 100% REAL. I view this as a service and I am the one that provided it.

Other people have piled on the thread saying they have a better deal. Fine. Make your own thread. Post the details.

Thanks to those that have bought the warranty.

Actually, US dealers can only sell US warranties. See what I mean?

I completely agree with BL here. Same issue if someone posted an item for sale and someone jumped in trying to offer a lower price for the same item of their own. If you have a competing offer on a similar item post your own thread, seems only fair and ethical to me.

In my area this warranty is $640 - with NO discounts, even if you buy it with the bike. To find a fellow owner providing the information to get it more than 35% less with a 5 minute phone call is (was for me) a great service (and much appreciated).

I'm another who can understand Bloodline's frustration here.

I think a lot of people just open this thread without realizing that it's in the VENDORS section. In my view, common courtesy for a vendors thread is to keep the thread focused on the vendor that started it (or vendor's liaison, in this case)

The thread in a different section of the forum would be a different story.
