I kind of lost track of this issue. Is this a one-off and the majority not affected or is there a substantial number of issue going on here. As far as I know there were 2 of these, correct? 8)

It's about 6 total so far just here. Not a problem according to YAMAHA. But a few here seem to know everything so we are all in good hands. Just pack a high powered flashlight and some duct tape just in case.

I'm not sure of who's right and who's wrong - perhaps no one on this issue. I think one of the biggest benefits of this board is to raise awareness on issues that might have a higher probability of occuring.

You really can't formulate a solid opinion until it physically happens to you...the upshot of this whole thread, regardless of some of the animosity, is now we all know what to do if we're concerned.

Stop for a break on a long ride and just feel around the headlamp area.

I do not know if this will help, BUT late model FJR 1300 has a recall with their harness. It is a gounding issue, Yamaha is having the techs add a section to the harness, that ensures, the grounds are working correctly. I wonder if this is a similar issue? I know I will be check all of my connections on mine now.

Totally different. The FJR mod is taking some of the load off ground "spiders" which are very simple stamped metal junction pieces that have had a history of becoming single point failures.

The Super Tenere issue is with the wires behind the headlights getting hot enough that the PVC insulation on the wires softens.

I installed the rallylights connectors as I was "there" installing some other farkles. The connectors were hard to crimp as my crimper's orientation didn't match the 90 deg shape. Ended up using needlenose vise grips and soldering just to be safe.

As a side note Susquehana motorsports is a PITA to deal with if you want to return something just be aware before you order.

I'd like to see what those H7 ceramic connectors look like, would someone please post a pic or a link to which type you've used from ebay?

I checked mine out, it's pretty hot, but nothing's melted.

Pages 2, 4, & 5 of the thread have pictures of the H7 ceramic connector that most use if you cut off and replace the stock headlamp plug.

Page 8 has links to pictures of the entire harness.

Page 10 has pictures of the "pigtail" harness, which is available on e-Bay as well as other places, that plugs into the stock H7 headlamp plug and then has leads to a ceramic plug that attaches to the bulb.

Page 11 has a link to a place that sells these same "pigtail" extensions.

Hope this helps!

Come on Roy. Feed the pig with a little optimism. This might be the contact that changes Yamaha's opinion. :)

Thats just stupid. Yamaha replaces entire headlight assembly because of a
defective plug . Head light assembly is well over the $ 500.00 dollar mark .
I guess another 6000 miles will need another . Beam me up Scotty .
