Steve, you might try Richardson Motorsports. I've only purchased a bike from them and never had any service but might be worth a try.

I purchased my Tenere from Stadium Yamaha ::008:: and I understand that they have one of the best mechanics in the area. I went to Maxim because it was the closest and I was hoping to get the same service I used to get from Central Yamaha before they merged with Maxim.

What really burns me up is that I went to Maxim last week, made the appointment to have the work done on Wednesday of the following week. When I made the appointment, the calendar for that day was clear. I took the bike to them on Tuesday afternoon so that they could get to it on Wednesday morning without having to wait for it to cool off. They did not get finished with it on Wednesday as promised, so I had to make other plans to pick it up on Thursday morning, only to find out they did not do what I asked. ::009::

I'm going to call the dealers in Richardson and McKinney and see if I can schedule a time where I can bring the bike in and have the recall work done while I wait. If that doesn't work out then I'll bite the bullet and make the trek to Irving.

The more I read, the more I am convinced I should do this work at home in my garage.
Do it, you won't be sorry you did. I installed the harness myself several weeks ago, and haven't thought about it since. Stress free, hassle free, and ridiculously easy to do.

I simply cut my ceramic connectors off in the parking lot before I went in to drop off the bike. No one said anything to me about the cut harness. I wanted to keep them, just in case...

I replaced the sub harness myself - not a big deal at all. Somehow I just don't trust anybody touching my bike, though I admit the time will come when I would have to! But not all dealers would readily accept customers doing the job themselves if the bike is still under warranty.
One point to note is that the connectors are the same as the old sub-harness. Only the wire is thicker, now 1.25 gauge as against 0.50 gauge for the old harness.
