Thanks!

I see these are out of stock right now on your website. Any forecast on the arrival of more?
Hi okiegtrider - I better update our inventory! We do have two systems left in stock, one 40L, one 45L, both in matte black. These are the original rack design that will fit 2013 and earlier bikes, as well as 2014 non-ES equipped bikes. I should also have one top case mount left in stock, as well as 25L top cases in matching matte black.

Any questions, feel free to call me at (585) 310-ADVM or email me at sales AT advmotorrad DOT com.

Thanks!

Bit the bullet and bought a 40/45L Matte Black set. Thanks to all for the details above, especially your pics Belaflek, they helped with the decision. Jason answered all my questions, and shipped as expected. There were two boxes, one with the rack, the other with the two cases inside. Everything was double boxed and in perfect condition when it arrived. Install was about 30 minutes total. I spent more time taking pictures after. The paint on both the rack and the panniers is excellent.

Actual weights:

Left Pannier 12 lbs 10 oz
Right Pannier 13 lbs 2 oz
Each mount 3 lbs 9 oz
Cross bar 14 oz
Hardware 11 oz net - 1 lb 1 oz less 6 oz for the four passenger grab rail bolts that are replaced

Total weight 30 lbs 14 oz

The flat part of the top of both panniers measures 8 1/2 x 16 in. The loops for straps are 8 7/8 center to center from front to rear, and about 9 3/8 from side to side. I was curious about this for finding soft bags to put on top.

I've had various bags in the past, including Jesses on a KLR, BMW OEM Aluminum on a GSA, the Yamaha OEM bugs, Givi's on a WeeStrom, and these Bumots are definitely on the top end. They are simple and functional. The mount of the pannier to the bike works fantastic. The fit throughout is impressive.

What's not to like? I had to dig hard to find two minor issues. The bolt for the front left side bracket that attaches to the peg is about twice as long as it needs to be. On the right had side the mount attaches at the front with a bar that goes between the peg and frame but new bolts are not provided. The OEM bolts end up not going complete through the frame. I'll just hit Ace to replace them all. And on the really minor front, the keys were taped to the outside of the pannier boxes using packing tape. Secure, but in the heat of the UPS truck the keys end up all covered in adhesive. A zip lock bag would solve that.

Jason @ Adv Motorad was fantastic. I had talked to him about Nomada, and was about to order those when the Bumot showed up. I talked to him about those and once I decided to move forward he got them shipped right away.

After ordering the panniers, I realized I forget to get liners. He quickly got those out, they are great. As he suggested I got a large for the 45, and medium for the 40. Turns out the medium is tailored to fit the cut out. They are basic liners, which is what I want. Put stuff in them, zip them up, and use the handles to carry them to the bike. They have some heavy duty material on the bottom.

I use a Wolfman medium expedition duffel for my camping gear, and it fits between the panniers when used lengthwise, with room left to open the panniers just fine.

I'm very pleased. Looking forward to the toolbox, and likely going to end up with a top box too. Heading out Friday for a run to NorCal to show up at work next week, then three days on the way back. I'll be interested to see how the gas mileage is impacted.

Ok, on to the pics... I had the right front cover off for some unrelated work. The panniers fit within the outside of the bars width wise. Full gallery at http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/43130835_B77hfg, about 35 pics, here are some highlights. They look much bigger in pictures than they do in real life.

Kevin those panniers looks really nice. Thanks for the photos. Those are at the top of my list when I'm ready to buy a new bike (within 9 months).

Hey Kevin - thanks for the very thorough review, pictures, and feedback. The right side mounting point will change with the new ES-compatible racks (basically it will mirror the left), but I haven't heard of a bolt length concern there previously so will definitely follow up. Good catch on the adhesive residue on the keys....that's my doing, and I will happily make use of your suggestion to bag the keys before taping them down! ::008::

I was pretty impressed when we first got the pannier inner bags in, as they really do fit the panniers well (especially the exhaust cut side) are are very durable. With the cases being powdercoated, there's no worry of aluminum transfer like in some other systems, but it definitely makes packing and transport that much easier!

As soon as Customs clears our most recent shipment, we'll have more systems in stock in both matte black and silver....as well as the long-awaited toolbox!

Thanks again....

Here's some pics of my setup - I have the 36L/40L boxes with reflective stripes added - might change the yellow out for blue, still thinking about that one.

Then, I added the stealth approach and reversed the strap attachments, or inverted them, lol

Quality-wise, they are great.

I've had the Jesse bags on my last S10 and the 10" bags always seemed to big - TO ME - yet the smaller ones he sells are more $ and taller so putting something across the
pass seat is a bit of an issue if you also want a top box. If he sold a smaller version identical to the 10" boxes for the S10 w/exhaust cutout I probably would have gone there
first.

The Bumot powdercoating isn't perfect. Mine had a few burrs here and there you could feel with your hand, kidna gritty feeling, whereas the Jesse's I had previously were more smooth.. I would say if the Jesse bags scored a quality of 100 then the Bumots are 98 or 99 just for that one specific item. Given the 300-400 price difference, not a deal killer by any means and still a great quality product for the $$.

The racks are very sturdy and solid, the one on the right side took a little maneuvering to get the bolts to line up correctly and not strip them but that was about my only issue there.

The Jesse bags give you some forward-to-back movement whereas the Bumot bags do not offer that flexibility, the main issue with that is again, if you want a top box then that may limit your options. I'm putting a Shad 33 top box on and that allows me room to open the lids and gives me an affordable top box.

This may appear to be more of a negative comparison to the Jesse bags but now that I've had both, I prefer the Bumot bags. They are big enough without being too big - again, TO ME - the larger ones would be a more direct comparison to the Jesse 10" bags and too big for my needs.

I have a 10 day 6k mile trip coming up in a few weeks so I'll be able to test them in the rain - it always rains on me - and see how watertight they are but the initial feel is they will be fine. I really like these bags and am glad I took a chance on them.

Jason Are the ES compatible racks coming in on this next shipment? Need some luggage very soon for a upcoming trip.
Great pics guys ! Very helpful with making my decision. Just have to decide on the 36L/40L combo or the larger 40L/45L set. I am assuming the larger combo is 2" wider?

From the Advmotorrad website:

"Overall system width is approximately 38" for the 45L / 41L system and approximately 36" for the 40L / 36L system."

Hi Ron - I'm expecting the new rack design in this shipment and am anxiously awaiting the opportunity to track down an ES bike and test fit them. Due to scarcity in Bulgaria, these were prototyped off the same non-ES Super Tenere as the original racks, but it looks like it's going to clear the ES-specific factory infill panel with room to spare. I'm hoping to get news early this week that the shipment has been released from Customs, and it should only take another day for them to be moved from JFK to us....ideally I'll have everything inventoried over the weekend and will be able to ship both pre-orders and new orders by Monday 8/4. I only have 4 Super Tenere systems coming in on this shipment that aren't spoken for, but would be happy to get you setup!

The 45L system is 2" wider overall but will still fit within the overall bar width, so there's not much downside. The 40L setup is nice if you don't need/want to carry as much or want the narrowest profile for lane-splitting, singletrack, etc.

Any other questions, please let me know.

Thanks!

Hey guys - here are the "spy pics" of the new rack design and Super Tenere rack mounted toolbox! I'll get some shots with better lighting and resolution at some point, but wanted to give you a guys a sense of the new design and how the toolbox will mount up. We will have toolboxes arriving for existing customers on the road (rekeyed to match your panniers/top box), as well as for all new systems in this shipment. I don't have the product posted on our website yet, but if you would like to pre-order a system with a toolbox, I can send you a custom quote to do so.

Any other questions, please let me know.

Thanks!

Installed my 36/40L Bumot luggage system. ::012:: Came with the optional toolbox. Fitment was almost perfect, slight rub of toolbox on plastic cover panel. I believe I can remedy this with an extra washer on that side.
Thanks very much Jason for all your help and delivering this quality product as promised.
