You guys won't believe this one, my seat and backrest were both due to arrive tomorrow 4-5-12 by usps well I walked out the front door and low and behold there is a box from V-Strom Accessories which had my backrest. Then there was a slip of paper from usps saying sorry we missed you and the box was from BMS. Well I jumped in the truck and tracked my letter carrier down a few streets away in our development. She gladly gave me my box after an id check and a signature and I came right home and installed my seat and backrest. Wow is that seat awesome can't wait to ride. I know ::006:: but I'm beat right now. I will take some pics and post later. I still can't believe they got that seat from southern CA to central VA in one day! ??? ::012:: ::008:: btw the backrest is really nice as well good quality build.

Where did you get the backrest?
Brian

Ok the decision has been made I am sending my pax seat out this week to have it recovered but not reshaped. I guess it would look better if it matched especially now with the backrest installed I have three different textures showing right now.

Have a question for you guys about the Bill Mayer seat. The thing is I found a local guy that will custom fit my seat for me but the only draw back is it wont be water proof, the seams will be stitched not welded like the stock seat, he will supply me with a water proof cover. Back to the question is the Bill Mayer seat seams welded or stitched.

Thanks Paul.

Corbin saddles are stitched and I have ridden my leather seat too many miles in pouring rain. No problem as long as you care for the leather.

Vince, maybe you should consider matching the backrest too.. Just saying. ;D

My seat is scheduled to arrive back home tomorrow. Looking forward to it.

I'm hoping mine will be here either today or tomorrow. And even better yet -in the next day or two I should be done with my latest remodel project AND there are no more projects on the horizon!!

:)

Now Koinz what you trying to start trouble or something, I just convinced myself the smooth sides of the seat would match the smooth texture of the backrest and then you go and throw this out there. :D

No offense to those that have posted a ride report but, I'm watching this thread closely for someone that has spent more than a few miles on their BMS seats. We did 1000 miles this weekend on the stock seats. I'm ready to send our to BMS, but I'd like some opinions first.

I think Steve has the most saddle time on a XT BMS seat so maybe he will chime in here but last I read from him he loves it even more.

btw 1,000 miles on the stock seat you must have been.. :'( :'(

I've got over 1,000 miles on mine. Since my ride-in seat fitting on March 19th. No problems and my only concern was with the slippery basketweave, but it has become much less slippery over time. Longest day was 600 miles, so far. No monkey butt.

Thanks, Steve.

I've not had monkey butt issues with this bike. I do have a YZ 250 though...

On the stock seat, I get what i can best describe as muscle pain. It's right where my butt muscle attaches to my hip. And, sometimes, my hamstrings feel cramped. Standing and stretching immediately eliminate the pain.

Longest I've sat on the stock seat without a break is 2.5 hours. After about 1.5 hours, I'm in pain.
