Agreed - to each their own. Did you give Russell a chance to rework it? Made all the difference for me.
Don't have a Russel, I have the BMS. No, I didn't want to throw more money at the seat. Every sargent seat I've ever had was great so I'm hoping that's still the case w/S10 version.

While I find the BMS seat a big improvement over stock, I have had many aftermarket seats that are a lot more comfortable than the BMS. For my intended use it will work for now.

That is a question Tim. What other seats are you thinking of?
I am thinking of getting this seat modded but it might cost too much. I am not far from Corbin Saddles, Rick Mayer, or Russell Day Long Seats and I doubt either of them would touch this seat. Might try a local upholstery shop. If a cover has to be made then it would be better to get a new seat.

I believe the reason why the BMS Redo did not work is because they did not want to make another cover (cost and time). I am into this BMS seat $600+ and I can ride comfortably maybe 100 miles. I was good on a the stock seat for 200-250 miles so I have been trying to find a used stock seat.

Thanks Tim, I am calling BMS today and will see what the cost of a new cover will be. For me the seat is 100x better than the stock, but could use a little massage on the foam. I have done 500 mile days and could still walk.. LOL

If that will cost too much, maybe I'll have someone close to recover.

Sorry some of you guys are having issues with your BMS seats. Mine just gets better and better. When I completed my Saddle Sore 1000 in June I did not even think about the seat.

I could not go more than 150 miles or so with the stock one without hotspots. Getting ready to do a Bun Burner Gold (1500 miles in less than 24 hours) and I don't anticipate any issues either.

Good to hear Stevepsd. I'm hoping for the best on my re-do.

If I could ask, if you look a few posts up at my seat pics is yours as flat as mine? From where I sit on mine there's not not enough slope for where my thighs go over the seats edges. Fooking kills me after a couple hours, my only relief is to sit way forward on the seat.

Is yours shaped that way? I wrote to them my concerns as well as several photos showing them were I like to sit and how the seat is too wide and flat in those areas for my legs. I also marked the seat with masking tape on the problem areas.

I know this is hard to do the first time without me being in Cali for an in house fitting.

Fingers crossed.

Your seat looks 'thicker' than mine at the edges and the front. Mine is more dished as well. Overall your seat looks very 'chunky'.

Amen! I actually just tonight looked at your seat images you did on your 'ride in' report you posted this spring. I did a comparison of your seat along with mine and came to the same conclusion. A very sharp edge compared to yours. Thanks for posting them.

I also sent Tammy an email and gave her a heads up on how some of us were having some fit issues. Hopefully they check this thread and can get some insight on those few of us oddballs.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Mark,

I would send Tammy these pics so she can show them to Adrian & Rocky. I am sure Adrian can make it right for you, especially with your other pics and the description of the problem.

I know 'tomatocity' had/has issues with his, so it does not work for everyone but that is the same for Corbins, Russells, etc. No seat works for everyone.

I'll do that. More info the better. True that on there being no perfect seat for everyone. Another local who frequents this forum has a Corbin he's not happy with.

Got my re-do back today and I'll say at first 'sit' it's much better. Props to Bill Mayer Saddles for the quick turn around time too. Returned it on Aug. 23 and got it back today, less than 2 weeks and that me shipping at the cheap rate and a long holiday weekend thrown in!

Going to give it a good break-in period but overall I'm pleased. Don't know how you can do any better cross continent without plaster casts of your ass. They increased the slope where it was killing my thighs and narrowed it a bit. The real test comes in a couple weeks on my 600 mile ride to Bixby, MO.

Some pics of the re-do...

Before, pretty flat and sharp...

After, more slope...
