I haven't held a set of the Trekkers yet so I can't give you any input on them... If you have specific questions we are a huge Givi dealer and I can shoot your questions the the GIVI USA folks for you..
??? Wouldn't that be 'asymmetric' :ptfjjj said:..... Will the pelican set up be symmetrical? meaning that the one on the right will be wider that the one on the right? ....
If I understand your question the answer is no... The cases are the same size but the sidecase racks are not. More room is left on the left side of the bike to compensate for the OEM silencer. The pelican system requires you to use the SW-MOTECH Quick-Lock Sideracks/ Side carriers. Here is a shot from the back of the bike with the TraX boxes (37 liter left and 45 liter right) so you can see the difference in widths:ptfjjj said:question for twisted throttle....

Yes there is a group buy brewing for the micatechs V2. These bags are outstanding, built solidly, made in the USA. The owners are riders and are great people as well. The micatech bags have been tested in hard situations, and have held up despite the pounding. Stay tuned for the deal of the month. I will be posting the details soon. I have no affiliation with the company, I just think these bags are the best on the market!Grunt58 said:I hear you on the V2's. I love the side opening bags and the way I pack, I put everything in some packing "cubes" I found at REI. Some people complain that when you open your bag, things spill out, but I have not found that to be the case packing like I do. Noting sucked more than being on the road, needing something packed away and having to unstrap the items loaded on the rear to get into the bags. With side openings, you just pop the bag open, grab what you need and go. I think there may be a group buy brewing for the Micatechs, so stay tuned!
off the wall! Happy trails for me.markjenn said:List is $450 for each bag and $190 for the mounting kit.

The MicaTech V2's are at the top of my short list as well. Although I am curious what Jeremy at AltRider is coming up with for their bags.motocephalic said:Yes there is a group buy brewing for the micatechs V2. I'll be going with the Givi Trekkers - which are probably as fugly as they come. But, they are functional. For those times when I plan to do much off-road, the bags/trunk will be off and I'll use a basic soft tail-bag. If I was still commuting to work (retirement is GRAND), I would use just the tail-trunk and leave the side bags at home.johnpitts01 said:Gotta agree with you about the large bags and space required. I like the idea of hard bags for wommuting to work and on road stuff. But off road, I just am not crazy about hard bags, though many of my Adventure Riding buddies have hard bags and I am always jealous of how easily they can get to stuff that requires me digging through my current Ortlieb bags.
I am really in a dilemma about this - Hard bags vs. Giant Loop. I almost certainly need some sort of hard bag or small trunk (I HATE those large tail trunks) for my daily commuting and work stuff.
Am I the only one that thinks the Mica's are fugly?
No, only pictures. I like the idea that they can be opened two ways and they just have a nice utility look without just a "blah" aluminum box. I plan to order from Adventure MotoStuff once they have them in stock (by February). They all ready have the Givi mounts in stock.johnpitts01 said:Have you seen the Trekkers in person? I kinda like them, but I can't find many details online. And I won't get to any of the motorcycle shows where I might see them first hand.
The V2's are a smaller version of the Micatech bags. One of the reasons I didn't buy Micatech Pilots for the GS was the size. When they came out with the V2's there were exactly what I was looking for.HoebSTer said:Those Mica's along with other large bags look like they can carry more stuff than most car trunks!!! No truer words were ever spoken. This goes for bikes, houses, sheds, closets, everything.colorider said:Not to worry Jeff...........
You expand to the space available.
