Fuel pump issues due to bad gas. ST needs more user friendly fuel filters so they can be changed without changing whole fuel pump assembly. Issues appeared at 43,000 miles. Bike quit like turning key switch off.

First time I heard about it.
So, was it the entire assembly that was replaced, or do you remove the pump, in order to get to the filter?

Yamaha does not show part numbers for the two filters, one of which is inside plastic housing. Must replace whole assembly. There is a thread here with pics. I think it is named "Stuck In Andalusia, Ala."

that's a strange set up.
you figure the fule filter would be external.
That said, at least it stopped there before grenading your engine.

Yep, both bikes. The PDP bike was the worst of the two for this issue.

I though mine was bad when it let go after 35 thousand km.
I never noticed the plug missing till then. I ordered and installed a new one since then. Grip glue.

Yes nearly all of them, and I don't count the vibration issue really, since it's so subjective. I THOUGHT I had a vibration problem for a while, when everyone was talking about it, but they stopped talking and it went away ::025::

Of the other things I think the lights and the seals are the only real problem (the others can be avoided if you know to keep an eye on them). I had both shaft seal leak, big one under warranty at 20,000 miles, the shaft seals a bit later, but then the leak stopped after an oil change and has been fine since.

so is your swing arm plug still in?

You might let your dealer know so he can bring that to the attention of the setup person who installed that when he installed the front wheel.

Not sure if its a inner or outer seal it pukes on occasion just keep checking the oil level Havnt got it repaired yet Waiting for the snow to fly than they can repair it. As far as dealer being concerned about assembly mistakes I did let them know but they did not seem to give two You know what Keep getting offers for service stuff NO WAY!! when I picked the bike up took the time to pick the service managers mind about the ST got a bunch of smoke blown up my ... So my faith is lost in the service dept. leak started at 11K As far as the plug Greg mentioned not sure of the location of it Will look closer after work Thx

12k miles now
6k miles I had D: Loose steering stem nut

4K miles I had my hand guard screws back out now the hand guards rattle

Battery died after 9 months, no abuse or neglect

however, I'd be happy with a recall for the headlight issue, that's something i'm worried about.

I'll put you down for a loose steering nut.

Best to check the headlight harness yourself if you are out of warranty.

Interesting the battery packed it in.
