I shipped mine to ac last Wednesday and got it back yesterday. Unfortunately, life got in the way. I'll install it tonight. Thanks ac for the fast and thorough service. ::012::

Finally got a decent day and some time to rig up a CJM (no switch yet) then removed luggage and headed to a moto track/woods loop. It is now a completely different bike, not quite a YZ250, but a little blip can lift the front wheel over logs and now it power slides around berms and cuts through deep sand. I did notice the shaft drive doesn't lend itself to feathering the clutch through the corners, and that bottoming the suspension on a couple hits seems to be telling me to cool it a little. It's really not fair that they sell the bike the way it is on account of emissions--there should be another sticker recommending flash. I can see the K60 on back not lasting near the 12K the last one did due to wheel spin from wheelie attempts. The bike was a great, but now it's a hoot. I'll be at Moonshine if anyone wants to take it for a spin...

Now my XTZ feels like a 1200cc bike should!

I bought a 2013 XTZ with ~350 miles on it. The weather has been so bad since I bought it that I hardly have any saddle time, and it has such low mileage that I felt it was too early to really put it through the paces. But I did ride it enough to know that it didn't seem as frisky as I thought it should for a 1200cc machine.

After spending a couple of weeks reading the Super Tenere forums, all the chatter about ECU re-flash convinced me that, although I have no real reason to think I would be unhappy with the factory setup, I knew that I would want not want the bike to be restricted and limited for some dumb reason. I was especially concerned about the on/off throttle "snatchiness" and "engine-braking" that FI bikes tend to have.

So, fast forward...I mailed my ECU to AC on Monday and received it back yesterday (Saturday). I rode 100+ miles on various surfaces and modes yesterday and although I hadn't ridden this bike enough to do a full before and after comparison, I do notice that the bike now feels like I would have expected it to feel from the beginning.

T-mode feels much more responsive than it did, and without even trying (still breaking-in) the S-mode felt like it was going to pull a wheelie in 2nd. ::013:: That feels more like the powerful bike it should be!!

The throttle snatchiness and engine-braking is significantly reduced in the higher gears, but it is still quite noticeable in the lower gears while slow pulling (tractoring) off-road. S-mode is especially "pitchy" in 1st and 2nd, so it is obvious that T-mode would be better for slow off-road dirt and gravel. This is not a criticism of the re-flash, just my limited observation of FI throttle response. I understand it to be normal, but it takes some getting used to. If it bugs me too much, I'll get one of those progressive throttles that changes the twist/pull ratio.

Anyway, I love it. It feels like it has a lot more grunt, and thank you AC for the quick turnaround. ::012:: ::008::

Yamasaki,

Make sure you have all of the slack out of your throttle cable.

Shoot me a PM with your full name and the area you are having the snatchiness with. RPM/Approximate wrist throttle position. I LOVE the feedback and want to take a look to see if I can refine.

I took the S10 out for a ride today with the intent on testing out my "Enhanced T LIGHT" mode. This is the mode one of you guys asked about. Something more than stock T, but not quite my normal "enhanced T" which is actually more than stock S.

I'm happy to report that I am pleased with my initial crack at the map. It's a nice blend of smooth, but without the real grunt that the bike is fully capable of. I think it's a good balance, and it might even live on my personal bike for a bit.

I also want to say that I took the bike out and really ripped it. I want to go on record and apologize to you guys officially.

With the TCS in mode "2" and the bike in my "enhanced S" mode, you are going to be blowing through rear tires to the point I might buy stock personally in Michelin!

I was giggling in my helmet how good the bike was in just about all the modes with my flash and Stoltec's suspension. Where's my buddy on that Multistrada? I think I have a lesson for him.

It is good to see an affordable re-flash option. :) I should have been more patient. My ECU was reflashed by EC-U late last summer..... And yes, they had to hack my ECU to extract the Canadian ECU version. But like all other reports, the reflash has transformed the bike. I was ready to trade in for something different, but now I will keep the bike for a while.

Ac, good work!! and kudos for all you have done for the Super Tenere community.

Thanks for the update ac.

I ride mostly in the "T" mode when I am commuting and when my wife is on board. I can see where a enhanced "T" mode would benefit a rider like me. Every once in a while I flip over the "S" mode just to hear the old girl sing out a bit. I'm one of the few, or so it seems, S10 riders that feel a pronounced difference between the "T" and "S" mode stock.

I now may be in the market for a reflash after hearing about your new "T" map. I'll stay tuned to see how that one matures.

There is a HUGE difference between S and T mode stock. S mode saved the Tenere for me. When I rode it home in T mode from the dealer I almost brought it back and asked for a refund! ::024::

Really the only way "enhanced T light" is going to progress is with more riders using it. I'm pretty happy with it. Definitely a bit more than stock T mode, but not quite as visceral as my normal "enhanced T".

If you are interested in a reflash, take the plunge. If you are happy with your bike stock, just ride it.

Hardly any slack at all in the throttle cable. I will need some more saddle time to get a detailed description together. I will PM you once I can adequately describe it. In the meanwhile, I'm going to have as much fun as possible with the new attitude. ::001::

Cool beans. Try to take it easy on your rear tire, it didn't do anything wrong ::001::

Ride in/Ride out Service.

I've had quite a few local guys request ride in, flash, ride out service. Generally speaking I'm not set up for this. I'm not a "shop". Just a guy with a house and a computer. As I am sure you can all appreciate, I am doing this in my spare time mostly to help the Tenere community. Adding ride in, ride out would greatly increase the time commitment I would need to attend to each person/bike/ecu.

As most of you are aware from talking with me, I generally put aside 8pm-9pm to work on this project. This is after my little girl goes to sleep as NOTHING will get in the way of my time with my child. That time line doesn't mix well with ride in/ride out.

So...why am I posting this? Am I saying "no, no ride in/ride out"? Actually not at all.

Instead I have a different idea!

If you are close/local, let's do an "ECU Flash Party/Ride"!

If we can get everyone to agree on a Saturday with nice weather, I am willing to host people at my garage to flash ecus. Ride in, pull your bike apart in my garage, I flash, you reassemble. Then we all go for a nice ride I'll lead around Sussex and/or Warren counties and have a nice lunch stop.

How does this sound? Does this Saturday, April 12, say 10AM work?

PM me if interested.

Kevy 511 (hopefully)

AC,
I can appreciate your time commitments and I think a flash party would be great. Thanks for offering.

I sent PM's to 3 others that asked about ride in/ride out. If they all jump on board, we will setup for Saturday.

I wish I was just a little bit closer. That would be all the motivation I'd need to get my ECU off the bike and get it flashed.

I'm in for this Saturday at 10am. Appreciate the time that you're putting into do this and hopefully the others join in so it can be more efficient. Thanks!
