Thanks Eric. Definitely good food for thought. One of the big barriers at the moment is parking cost / availability, as we're looking to live downtown. There is one ADV inmate with a cool option brewing though... Other issue is I spend all of my free time on the mountain bike now.

A few shots of my front mounting w/ the AltRider bars. With AltRiders already installed, just remove the two front bolts and mount up per instructions (spacers on top of AltRider bars). I had to take a little bit of care to keep the plate from digging into the bars when tightened down...

I thought I measured the supplied bolts at 40mm...did I screw it up? I was thinking about getting 45s but couldn't find a good set with the proper thread pitch and strength.

Can't speak to AltRider ease but this one is very easy - 4 bolts. Install / removal is done on the sidestand; the two centerstand bolts get reinserted to put the bike up on the centerstand.

I thought about doing those Adventure Dry bags but ended up with the CL-855 set. They work great. Ran the set just fine without racks. Plenty of places to strap down and prevent flapping around. Exhaust side is works with the OEM exhaust guard and the heat shield on the bags. Starboard side...
