Support in aftermarket parts? Is that what you mean? . . . .
Yes, aftermarket and OE. Ironically, EU/UK Altrider still carries skid plates and crash bars for the T-12 although the bike itself has been cancelled there. US Altrider has canceled about everything for the bike although it can still be obtained here. I also know that Mastech has discontinued manufacturing their crash bars for the T-12.

And Yamaha itself discontinuing certain parts for the T-12. A lot of guys out there either want or have already obtained the OE boxes. Only to find out that they can't mount them since Yamaha has cancelled the hardware. The only way to get the hardware now is to find someone selling theirs.

The only people that I have ever heard say they wouldn't buy a Japanese bike either sold/rode/wanted a Harley. And even they said it wasn't a quality thing. Japanese motorcycles are the epitome of reliability. I also said in my comment that I might be proven wrong about the Chinese motors. But it's a moot point since I'm not buying one.

I am a child of the 60’s and I had WW2 guys saying that. That's to bad things are getting harder to get. T-rex seems to be good quality. I just have the bash plate.

Surely it's good, maybe it needs some modification to make it more reliable

I got my S10 in 2012, rode it until 2016 and put almost 30k miles on it. I sold it for a 2016 R12GSA that I also put about 30k miles on and sold it in 2021. I just got an F800GSA because I couldn't find an S10 that I wanted. All of the bikes have been great so far. I didn’t have an issue with my S10 besides leaky fork seals. My 16GSA had a leaky front shock. My f8GSA has been great and just turned 30k miles. It had a rough idle for a bit but cleaning and calibrating the IACS solved that.

I see myself on another. I need to find one I want first. There has been something awesome about each of the bikes.

I have been riding ST for the last 4 years, 33 000 km alltogether. I do not do offroad and there are not many gravel roads left anymore here to exploit the capabilities of the bike. Bike itself is very comfortable, I have added the Helibars risers and a custommade seat and few other improvements, so I can ride it all day long without any discomfort. However, the more I ride it, the more I feel a certain boringness. The engine is smooth and powerful enough for me, but the sound of it is not engaging or exiting, not at all. I do miss the sound and dynamics of the inline 4 of the FJR1300 that I had for 9 years and sold because it did not have the cruise control. So I have been looking around a bit and tested few bikes like 1250 GS, Multistrada V4, Suzuki GSX1000GT, but each of them had some major shortcomings that I did not think I was ready to bear. Until I had a half a day ride on Kawasaki Versys 1000 S yesterday. The engine, its sound and dynamics is just intoxicating, it is such a fun bike to ride. The ergonomics and sitting position are pretty good, wind protection is adequate. Quickshiter is also very good if you figure out when and how to use it and you can always use the clutch, which is also very light and intuitive. True, Versys is by far not as comfy as ST, suspension and seat are pretty hard on bumpy small roads, but still after a long while I felt a strong enthusiasm riding a bike again. And as I almost never leave the pavement anyway, I won't miss much of the ST universality. The only thing I will really miss is the shaft drive, but I guess that is a minor problem.
So, if I get a fair offer from the Kawa dealer, considering the end of the riding season, I might trade in my Super Tenere for the Versys. I have also read a lot of positive things about it in internet and there are also few Versys forums out there which give great advice as this one here does. I do recognize some posters from the FJRForum days...
By the way, I would love to post the pics of the Kawa here, but just found out that I was so excited about the bike that I even forgot to take them, what an embarrassment! :)

I guess if there has been something awesome about each bike and now you are looking to buy another S10 it means either S10 gave you more awesomeness or more savings or both.

I had a versys 650 and it was awesome for ME. When I got married and needed a bigger bike I thought immediately about the versys 1000 but then I needed to do offroad and the S10 offered the best compromise for me. If I were going to do exclusively street riding then probably the versys 1000 would have been OK...though not sure about the comfort for long distance travelling

My S10 was a Gen1 and I would like to give a Gen2 a try. The S10 will always have a special place for me. I had one when I was injured at work. My doctors said I wouldn’t ever walk or ride again. It took 2 years to ride again and 9 to walk again somewhat normal. I told my doctors I was going to ride my S10 to Alaska. My heart says I want another one to do that trip in the coming years.

if I were to think strictly in bike terms. I enjoyed the simplicity of the S10 when it came to maintenance and care. Don’t get me wrong, both my GSAs have been perfect and great bikes. The S10 holds an emotional and technical connection for me.

So the Triumph is listed on CycleTrader, Craigslist, and ADV for $19k.

Rode it to the local Harley/Ducati dealer just out of curiosity to see what they had for sale or trade and I wanted to sit on a couple of Multistradas for feel. The Stradas were nice but not right. They have a 2017 Midnight Blue Super Tenere with only 3,500 miles so while not seriously thinking to buy it, I asked what it would take to make a deal because I was curious what they'd give for the Triumph. The initial answer was a straight swap and I pay $400 for inspection and tax. While waiting for the sales guy to talk to his manager I looked on their website and that bike is listed for $10,435. After I walked out and hopped on the Triumph the sales guy come out to say his manager would waive the $400. With taxes and such I figure they were really offering a bit over $12,000 for mine.

LOL

Anyway, their Tenere is like new, really is that low in miles, and for the price looks like possibly a good purchase for somebody else here.

I spoke to a manager at that dealer. The bike has dropped about $3500 in price since I last spoke to them. It went from $13,800ish down to the $10,450 you see. He told me they don’t build in $3000 into their price for haggling and adjustment, but I guess he lied. I offered to ride my F800GSA out there and pay the difference. Trade in for my bike is listed in the high $6k range and they offered me $3000.

I told them no thanks. I am not for playing games. I have bought and sold a lot of bikes and enjoy the trips on new bikes.

Here is a portion of our chat. Now they are below my $11k mark! LolIMG_8578.jpeg

So I went to a couple dealerships and played merry go round on the bikes to get a feel for the differences. I had sat on a goldwing prior and surprised on how light it felt because of the low CoG so I wanted to investigate this phenomenon. Got to set on a Superten and Racer 9 side by side, both felt similar with the Super ten handlebars higher, price difference of about $5k to the Tracer 9 as it was a discounted '22. Sat on a Honda NC750X an it felt very lightweight, due to the twin cyl engine rotated forward and down and the fuel tank under the seat, it felt incredibly light and was even DCT. Sat on a VFR1200X with DCT and it could be a front runner with the rest of the pack. Sat on a CFmoto ibex 800 and there are a lot of goodies hanging off that bike for the price, don't know if I'm fond of the motor which is the same as the KTM 790. It all keeps coming back to the Super Tenere with the shaft drive and everything else that is wanted though.
No Cruise Control on the VFR otherwise nice bike.

It's listed as an ES. THAT picture is not an ES. The no side filler panel caught my attention. Zoomed in and could see it's a manual rear shock, and no ES on front fender. So . . . .

My assumption for any used bike at any dealership is that the first listing price is 2x what they paid in trade.
Of course, that depends on the dealership(s). My son was able to get his '14 FJR in November of '14 for $10,800. It was used and had 10k mi. It was as spotless as a new one. And I got my brand-new '17 ES for the price of a standard. They also sold the TW I have now, to the guy I bought from, for $1,400. (around here at least, TWs are going for $4k) Yes, I am spoiled by not having to worry about my local dealership trying to screw me.

Good catch.
The place and their attitude is Harley, Harley, Harley, and begrudgingly Ducati. They simply copied what's on the Yamaha website without knowing any better.

With so few miles, being as clean as it is, no farkles at all, it's pretty easy to guess it was forgotten in the garage of some Harley owner's house and he probably used it as a down payment on his newest Harley.

Sounds right, but then I never take what ANY salesman says at face value. The place was OK under the previous owners and had been a BMW franchise forever, but many of the employees went elsewhere when District Harley bought out Battley. Not clear if they dropped their BMW franchise or if BMW dropped them but would not be surprised if it were the latter case. Since Bob's BMW is now also a Ducati dealer and there are so many Harley alternatives in the area, I understand from an ex-employee that District is not doing well.

At this point I think they just want the 2017 Tenere to disappear.

Just a powerful reminder that I have the awesome privilege of dealing with Romney and Motomember for all my power sports needs. Larry has sold me 8 of my last 9 new bikes. Throw in another 2 of my last 3 used bikes to that list.

I hate playing games when buying bikes. So glad I don't need to do crap.
