I just ran across an add for a 2023 Triumph 1200 tiger gt explorer in Plano Texas for $18500. I’ve got 2 prices from dealers closer to home for $24k out the door with t&t. I test rode one Saturday. I told the salesman to turn off the riding modes before I took a spin. It was obvious he didn’t know how to do anything. It wouldn’t lift the front wheel in first gear. I gassed it at 2k rpm to 7k.. Their website said it had 3 miles on it. It actually had 360 miles on it. No big deal but I hate a liar. Waiting to see what the Plano dealership says.

That sounds like an outstanding motorcycle and gets lots of good reviews ! Good luck if that is your direction !

Yeah, I'm seeing 2023 S-10's at $15-16K. New KTM 1290 SAS $19-20K. That's still a substantial price difference in anybody's book so I guess it's a personal decision on whether the tech and performance upgrade is worth it or not. (They still sell a shitload of KLR and DR 650's)

Oh yea ! Just about any bike for virtually any budget ! I always find this really interesting that there is almost as much diversity in bikes / sizes / cost / budget / function............. as there are riders looking for a "bike" for there needs they want...................... Millions of combinations..... Ive always had great time discussing with other riders that DONT ride what I have, find out all about their motorcycle and how they use it...... Every story is different ! Love it !

I must confess: I rode another 1200 GSA yesterday and while it was very agile on the road (Note that the gas tank was empty and I was going through the 50km reserve), on the offroad I did not see any advantage compared to my current S10...now I could buy a 1250 2022/2023 but the extra 50cc would not resolve the issue and I will add on the top of it the attitude..especially the prevailing on in my neck of the woods....I hate tribes that are formed around a single brand with an attitude "we are the best and f the rest"...I hate when other choices are disrespected...I hate when money and social status gets into anything including riding....I wish riding was celebrated the way it is whatever people's choice for brand or category....last Time I met a group of goldwing riders...I just loved their vide...most of them were doctors or high military officials...and they were just having good time in a slow manner (probably too slow to my taste but why not!)...I wish they were having other bikes to do offroad....

Anyway, my next bike.is my upgraded S10 with limited open minded offroader...when I feel the new tech is needed I Will buy one....meanwhile nature and remote offroad places are calling !

Agreed ! We all love to ride motorcycles !

My opinion has always been, who cares what brand, color, cost, Etc. I’m just glad we are all friends with a common interest.

bought a DR650 a couple years ago and love that thing. Simple is best in my book.

I normally ride my S 10 in sport. I switched it to touring the other day to see if it improved my mpg. I forgot it was in touring and in town, as I pulled away from the light- I was thinking "what's wrong with this thing"? Then I remembered it was in touring mode.

I'm one who really doesn't want a sport mode, off road mode, wheelie mode, mpg mode, rain mode, sand mode, rock mode, etc. I get used to one and use my wrist to determine the best mode.

Simple is better. For me.

If mine gets into "T" mode . . . . and I take off from a stop sign . . . . I will kill it. I never knowingly use "T" mode. Yeah, I'm with ya', my wrist(s) changes modes, not my bike.

You forgot, anti-take off into space mode !

LOL. Some of these bikes are almost like the James Bond Aston Martin ……………. lol

I ride my S10 on T mode during offroad where I care more about grunt/torque than the acceleration feel...and off course stability as I don't want to be jumping around big rocks by the throttle on 1st gear LOL

So I went to a couple dealerships and played merry go round on the bikes to get a feel for the differences. I had sat on a goldwing prior and surprised on how light it felt because of the low CoG so I wanted to investigate this phenomenon. Got to set on a Superten and Racer 9 side by side, both felt similar with the Super ten handlebars higher, price difference of about $5k to the Tracer 9 as it was a discounted '22. Sat on a Honda NC750X an it felt very lightweight, due to the twin cyl engine rotated forward and down and the fuel tank under the seat, it felt incredibly light and was even DCT. Sat on a VFR1200X with DCT and it could be a front runner with the rest of the pack. Sat on a CFmoto ibex 800 and there are a lot of goodies hanging off that bike for the price, don't know if I'm fond of the motor which is the same as the KTM 790. It all keeps coming back to the Super Tenere with the shaft drive and everything else that is wanted though.

"I" feel that the T-12 has everything "I" need without anything else to malfunction. But I use it as daily transportation, and I don't take gazillion mile trips. That might be why "I" am completely satisfied with her.

I test drove a last Gen 'Wing once and was surprised at how light it felt too. Hard to beat for those gazillion mile trips. I might get proven wrong, but I will not trust a bike with a motor from China. Doesn't matter though because the Tenere us my forever bike.

I've ridden every generation of Wing except the latest one. I'll stick with my 2015 for several reasons. The new ones do corner and gobble miles. But the passenger gives up some protection and having my wife on the back is one of the main reasons I ride the wing.
As you guys know I bought the S10 without having really ridden it. A couple of 200 mile days for test runs and a quick trip in Georgia prior to my Alaska trip. This bike has performed flawlessly thus far on this trip at 11,000 miles so far. Shaft drive is always a plus for longevity and lower maintenance. With the tall VStream windshield, winglets, and infill dash there is a lot of protection that in itself was a big surprise. I have gone on 21 to 24 day gazillion mile trips on wings. There isn't any reason I can't do it on this S10 and that is another of the biggest surprises to me on this trip. I just need a custom seat and 1000 mile days would be no big deal. I just did a 655 mile day from 0915 to midnight and I wasn't in a hurry until 5 pm. Prior to that was over 100 miles of gravel. A 2 hr rest stop at Field's Station for lunch. The only thing uncomfortable was my Prima Donna derriere. I have a custom seat planned for this bike. Now I have 50L panniers and dry bags on top of those. Plus a top box and spare tires too. My only minor complaint is at 70 to 80 I make 29 mpg... due to load and air resistance. Now on back roads and gravel my range shows up over 400 miles. Yes, that isn't trustworthy as it goes off instantaneous mpg... but when I am doing 45 to 55 on over 100 miles of gravel and fairly level my range goes way up and I believe 400 miles can be done. That's what this bike is all about. Going cross country over different surfaces and getting there. I have been riding on this trip with new GSA 1250's and yes, they are nice... but one had so much problems he sold it and bought a new one just to get home. That and other stories of BMW not covering items under warranty that should be a no brainer. That’s what scares me away from that bike. Otherwise I sure do like it. If you have read my TG thread you know I was chomping at the bit for an AT but that has gone away now. Am I curious about one? Yes, I still am... but the need for one is gone. I have been in S mode the whole trip... except when doing 80 and somehow I got into T mode. Only discovered that when I wanted to pass a car that I had been slowly gaining on... twisted the throttle and nothing happened except a 1 mph gain. Huh, oh, T mode. Before when in Georgia on back ridge fire roads I was in T mode and will probably go there again for technical riding but I have done over 1000 miles of gravel in S mode (flashed) and now see no reason for T mode on forest roads or gravel ranch roads. This bike is tough. With the described loads on it I climbed a very steep embankment and ran along it and back down to the road and kept going. I was using the full potential of the suspension travel. I'm sure my T-Rex bash plate was used. I was hoping not to hit the big rocks (size of my head and larger) and the bike was like... what, that's all you got? I can do better...
Sure, I wish it had more power in some of the mountains when hitting the corners hard and going up hill out of some of the tight ones. When I came out of them I wanted more power as I got up to speed for the next one. So that's my 2nd and very minor complaint. Details of why I didn't make a corner (I made it... just not on the pavement) are at Adventuresbyguy.com
So, even though this is my 1st Yamaha I think I will be here for a while and not shopping for a replacement. Maybe a stable mate, but for the life of me... why???

And they did have a newer GS1200 or 1250 that I sat on. I looked down and saw those jugs hanging off the side and it just didn’t seem like a good idea. Though there is always give and take. The CFmoto is certainly made in China. It was an impressive bike for the money but I didn’t see longevity on the list of accessories.

Hello Group !

Not sure about you folks, but Ive noticed lots of Tenere motorcycles for sale in the last six months or so, across all platforms. For the the folks that have sold, looking to sell, thinking of selling, what might you be looking to move over too ? If you're moving on to a different brand, would you like to share why, or what might have prompted you? I think this would be interesting to hear from folks that have sold their Tenere, and have moved over to another type of bike. Because there new bike is not a Super Tenere, they probably don't feel 'welcome' to talk about there new bike on this platform.. I would like to hear from folks to maybe ask "why" they decided to move on? I have Tenere friends that are selling or have sold and have moved over to other brands for many reasons. Would anyone like to share their experience post Super Tenere ?

For instance, I have a friend that road a ST for 100K miles. Moved over to a Honda cross touring V-4 bike that they have. Then moved over to a V-Strom 1000. I guess those didnt really do "it" for him, so he has just moved over to a GS. So far he thinks this GS is the best of the four. Has recently mentioned, he likes the power, ride quality, ride modes, body position, Etc..... Its "to each there own".. I think it's great he has found a bike he really likes. I always find it interesting on what people move on to. My friend is a Touring highway type of guy. Very little gravel, no off road.

Anyone sell their Super Tenere and move onto another bike, would like to share ?
This is one of the best bike in the world. I have 2010 I’m planning to sell it and my 2023 or 2024 if there is a new specs or difference in 2024 if anybody can help me any information about 2024.

CFMoto. My dealer has them on his floor, and they're selling. Between still having trouble getting Yamahas, and the low price tag for the CFMotos. he keeps them in stock. He said that every Tenere is sold before it gets to the store. Good 'cuz people still want them. Bad 'cuz there's no support for the T-12.

Support in aftermarket parts? Is that what you mean? I know that AltRider is still selling but I know their belly pan is discontinued. Many people said they won't by a Japanese bike. Now look.
They are everywhereand qualityis way up... I won't buy Chinese due to the politics of the country. But many people just look at price.
The market I live in is small so I haven't seen them yet.
