Do you have a link for the Barnett clutch conversion (gets rid of the OEM diagram and use's normal plate/springs)? I looked up the Barnett site and did not find it. That would be great if it rids the OEM mechanism with a normal setup and removes the slippage.
Yah, tell us where you got that Banett plate.

Congrats on the new bike.

Interesting list of farkles.

What makes you feel that the ABS off switch would be desirable? If you're a current or past BMW owner, nuff said. FWIW, this isn't a BMW and the ABS is light years ahead of other systems, including Yamaha's past systems.

If you're going to do the clutch mod, you might want to try the bike as is first. Ditto for the clutch. Not sure why you're interested in the Barnett clutch, they haven't even gotten it done yet for both plates and springs, etc. (at least the last I saw). I'd love to hear your impressions on that issue.

Slippage? Bleed the clutch line. There is no slippage on mine at close to 40k.

I agree with EricV. Ride your new Tenere a bit before you order that new clutch. I've had no issues with mine in 10k miles. I do have a Barnett clutch pack in my Ducati (along with a Pro Cutting basket and Pro Moto pressure plate). The Ducati OEM clutch had issues. The Tenere (for me) does not.

I got the Barnett spring conversion to eliminate the diaphragm and the in my opinion soft spongy feel it delivers... The link below is what I got and yes it is a perfect fit as the Tenere shares the same clutch with many other Yamaha's... I have ridden the stock and the Barnett back to back and there is a very noticeable difference.
www.barnettclutches.com/products/spring_conversions.aspx?cat_id=6&prod_id=35

The link below you will see the Tenere uses the same clutch as the FJ and XJR just with a different number of plates.. The spring conversion crosses over to the Tenere.

Jeff its not a new clutch, its a spring conversion kit to make the clutch "normal".. I will still use the factory Yamaha clutch plates/pack.

Eric, I've been riding in the dirt for 38 years, and I'm very accustomed to being able steering the bike with the back brake(in the dirt). I understand and like the ABS on the Tenere and I have zero complaints about it, but for a few bucks to have the option of a off switch was worth it to me. See my other post about the clutch spring conversion... The clutch mod- for a couple bucks(switch was $12) to be able to turn it on or off at will was easy and well worth it to me..

Fair enough and thank you for responding. ::008::

After nearly 40k miles, I offer that my suspicion is that you will not turn off the ABS much. In fact, the more you ride it, the less you will feel the need to turn it off.

The clutch, well, I am really baffled by that, but I hope it gives you a better feel. Really, feel is what it's about. You being able to modulate the way you want and get what you want out of it. ::012::

Thanks for the link and I agree with your comment about the feel of the stock clutch.

Last month this discussion came up and Barnett did not have a spring conversion kit for the Super Tenere yet, and had tried p/n 511-90-10033, but it didn't fit our basket. Tabasco, (Ride On ADV), was working with them to get a spring conversion and mentioned that yes, the clutch disks they had would fit the Super Ten, but not any of the existing spring pressure plates. Word was that they were going to get on it and it might be available by the end of the year.

Here is the thread - http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=6275.msg108365#msg108365

Where did you guys get the info that the p/n 511-90-10001 kit will work on the Super Tenere?

Yea. The people I spoke with at Barnett said the plate and springs would fit. They thought it was the same clutch as the FJR. But in the end it won't work on the Tenere. Came from the horses mouth, they are working on the Tenere model.

I work in the M/C industry and know the guys at Barnett and got the plate direct from them handed to me by one of there reps. I've rode an R&D bike with the spring conversion done to it..
The part number I have ( Part#511-90-10001 ) is not the same as the one you listed.

Which is why I asked where you got the info on that p/n. ;)

Let us know when you have it installed and your impressions of it on your bike.

I work in the M/C industry and have made many good friends over the years, it was very cool being able to buy/pick it up directly from corporate Yamaha.. Was a great day!!!

Here's another 2013 Super Tenere, this time with more and different graphics

Looks like Yamaha did a bulk buy of Wasp's tank decals?

If you like it, the bad news is, you have to come to Colombia to get it (and pay about $19,000).
