Good point dave6, maybe the lights laser their way through the air and I ride right by in a vacuumdave6 said:You would think with all that light out front you wouldnt get any wind lol.
I'm happy with mine (in the low position), but haven't done much comparison with the regular one. Seems like a good compromise betweeen buffeting issues and protection, although any significant crosswind overwhelms it - that's pretty much true of any of the adventure bikes with relatively narrow screens and long distances between the screen and rider.norcal rider said:Has anyone else used the taller Yamaha wind screen?
I have one I use on trips. I found the top position works best for me. There is still some turbulent air hitting the top of my helmet which is a noisey model to begin with, Shoei DS Hornet. For the $100 I have in the screen it's good for me. I am 5'9" tall if that helps. National Cycle makes this screen for Yamaha and it fits perfect even sports a Super Tenere logo at the bottom.norcal rider said:Has anyone else used the taller Yamaha wind screen?
I was going to get the Parabellum shield but this one looks interesting. Did you have a chance to compare the two before you made your decision?Blue_eyes said:I initially had the WASP bracket and the Yamaha Touring (high) screen and still had some buffeting, then I installed the MRA Variotouringscreen and it works wonders, totally clean air, no buffeting! I can ride 120+ mph and there is total peace behind the screen.
Honestly, this is eureka!

looks over complicated! I'll stick with trusty parabellum ::008::vnp514 said:I was going to get the Parabellum shield but this one looks interesting. Did you have a chance to compare the two before you made your decision?
Pete
I just installed the Touratech bracket on my bike and I'm still trying to find the sweet spot. I went on a long ride yesterday that included long stretches of freeway and I stopped several times to play with height and angle. Some positions were noticeably better than others. Right now I've got the bracket mounted in the mid position and the screen in the low position. (Bracket has high/mid/low mount points, plus the stock screen hi/low mounts = lots of combos) I think I'm going to mount both in the high position and see how that goes.norcal rider said:I don't mind the air flow or the size of the screen, they are both about right. It's just the buffeting. It's enough to be really annoying and even headache inducing.
Has anyone used the touratech adjusment bracket?
What are your thought with that if you have.
How is the air flow behind this screen? If it was a hot day, would you be getting any air into your helmet?Blue_eyes said:I initially had the WASP bracket and the Yamaha Touring (high) screen and still had some buffeting, then I installed the MRA Variotouringscreen and it works wonders, totally clean air, no buffeting! To be honest, I don't know.... It's fall here now, with temperatures of 13-15 Celcius.... But with the WASP screenmount you can position the screen in any position (up down, vertical to flat), so that will not be an issue. The MRA screen has a gap at the bottom allowing airflow to reach behind the screen, where the Yamaha OEM screen points down and closes that gap.GoNotShow said:How is the air flow behind this screen? Yes, let me know how it works out.norcal rider said:I'm picking up the taller Yamaha screen this week. I'll keep the Touratech adjustment bracket on and see if this combo does the trick. I'll respond here with the results if anyone is interested.
I have that same helmet. It will give me ear-ringing at speeds over 55mph. I stopped using it on road unless I have to, although I have yet to try it out on the XTZ.GoNotShow said:FWIW: I'm also riding with a Shoei Hornet DS helmet (first time riding with and ADV style helmet) and I'm not sure how much of the buffeting I'm experiencing maybe helmet related vs. bike related. I'm planning on riding next weekend with my trusty Shoei X-11 to see if that makes any difference.
That's a waste of money, time and effort. Better get the MRA one.... The Yamaha touring screen is so so... until you try the MRA one. Then you'll know what you always wanted!norcal rider said:I'm picking up the taller Yamaha screen this week. I'll keep the Touratech adjustment bracket on and see if this combo does the trick. I agree 100% ( I have tried the touring screen - waste of money. Keep in mind I am 1.88m tall )Blue_eyes said:That's a waste of money, time and effort. Better get the MRA one.... The Yamaha touring screen is so so... until you try the MRA one. Then you'll know what you always wanted!
Hmmmmm, I solved mine with the +5 inch givi screen for $135....bloke said:All this messing with expensive adjustable gadgets and different screens is funny to read since I cured all my problems for 200 bucs!!!!
