Wired up my LED driving/Halo lamps from Great Whites. Halo running lights wired always on when bike is running. Main beams triggered by relay.
That looks great Jeff, almost like a BMW LOL

They look kind of unique and these have 3X the wattage of the PIAA 530 kit that Yamaha sells (10 vs. 3 watts). Even so they are pulling less than 2A through the main beams. Still need to test at night and set the aim correctly. I'm hoping the halos will provide a bit more cornering light.

Swapped out the 6 year old battery for a lithium ion. The R.H side Altrider crash bar had to be loosened and pulled away to get the job done. Also the angle the battery sits at makes lining up the nut with the bolt on the positive fun. I finally got it to stay lined up by putting a bit of Blutak on a small flat head screwdriver and sticking the nut to it. What was a ten minute job on my XJR was an hour on the S10 ::)

Was pleased as a pig in mud to simply get on it and ride to the office yesterday. She started right up as if just ridden the day before. Had eye surgery a month ago and have been grounded, plus was tied up with work travel since early November.

::001::

Riding yesterday felt so good that I did it again today! With another march on DC tomorrow ::) I'll work remote.

Got out and did a day time test on my new "Great Whites" driving lights. I was running on low beam with just the halos illuminated. I could not see their reflection from cars I was following or passing as I could the regular headlight beams. I was a bit disappointed since I was hoping for a distinct appearance, either that or I figured my wiring must have already failed. To be fair however it was extremely bright a sunny as I was going in late this morning. When I pulled into my work parking lot, there's a big tinted glass window and they showed up there really clearly. Well at least I knew they were on. Left the bike on when I parked and walked around and off a ways in front of it. Damn, they are plenty bright looking at them. I guess they just don't really project much to make a reflection off of the cars.

The main beams look really intense, even in bright sunlight and they almost drown out my OEM head light reflections. Tonight it'll be dark when I leave so I'll get a chance to try them out and refine the aim a bit.

Reading between the lines, your eye surgery was a success! ::012::
Yes thanks. Retina was torn and the edge of the tear was beginning to detach. This getting old sucks!

And I am a total fan of modern medicine. When I asked the doc what they would have done before lasers or if I'd been on a trip overseas . . .

. . . OMG did he give a scary explanation!!!

???

Did a brake and clutch fluid flush. 2 1/2 year old stuff was still pretty clean. Have to watch the splash created from the reservoirs if you squeeze the lever too fast. Question: What is that box covered in rubber under the right side rear reservoir cover on the ES model???

That's the hydraulic pump and motor for adjusting the rear spring preload.

In preparation for my May 20th trip to Alaska, I have been getting the bike dialed in.

Mounted my Tourmaster Synergy controller to the bottom of the left switch pod and hard wired it to a Firstgear coax port.

Made a mount for my $9 Kmart gas jug using some aluminum scraps and poor welding skills.

Do you have a pic of your handguards? Looking to modify mine to increase functional wet weather coverage.

use handle bar mittens, several companies carry them. they keep your hands warm and dry.

Honda doesn't have that problem, they put a small plate over that particular opening so it doesn't squirt up and out.
I just make my own out of some banding strap and slide it on the side of the reservoir when changing fluid. No more splash out!
