Since I was 3 years late to the Super Tenere party most of what I have been adding to my bike has been covered already with multiple posts and photos. But today I installed my Jesse rear compartment something I haven't seen much posted about.

This gives me the perfect place to carry tools, air pump, tire plug kit, straps, spares, snacks, etc. Basically all the essentials I need to have on hand 100% of the time regardless of where I am going or how I am packed with other luggage. It is lockable and keyed the same as my Jesse bags. Easily accessible at all times from the rear of the bike without unpacking bags or removing the seat, side panel or any stowed bags on top. It is meant to be used with a Jesse top case or luggage rack thus slotted and drilled accordingly. For me it is plenty big enough already to serve as a rack so I will use it as is. I added non slip stair tape to it to prevent things from sliding around as much and tape also covers the screw heads. In the future if I need to carry a Rotopax I will attach the Rotopax mount first to a plate and then bolt the plate to the Jesse compartment using existing holes/slots. I waited for a scratch and dent unit to become available so cost was only $210. I think the regular price is $245 and they come in black only. Not bad considering it eliminated a $150 luggage rack purchase for me.

That looks REALLY great!

Installed the newer clutch basket. I purchased from Rocky Mountain awhile ago for the $35 price, but haven't had time to install until today. OMG, that's a great improvement. Roll on acceleration is so much smoother now. ::003::

Officially welcomed spring to New England. Rolled my '13 SuperTen out of hibernation and went for a 120 mile loop, up the Merritt Parkway to Middletown, CT. Rode around Wesleyan University, which I'd never seen—pretty campus!

I also had my first on-bike experience with an over-the-winter helmet farkle: Sena SMH10R. Pairs and works flawlessly with both my iPhone and GPS. Never thought I'd want/like/enjoy listening to tunes while riding, but a friend lent me his 50-CD classic jazz collection, which I burned and listened to the whole ride. Cannonball Adderly, Monk, Coltrane, Bird, Oscar Peterson, sun, curving asphalt, sweet spring air...awesome. I love it. Debated whether or not to "blue tooth" on this forum earlier this winter...never thought blue tooth and blue note would be such a perfect pair. Also, great to have audible GPS directions when needed. Not overly intrusive, cuts in to music to tell you when to turn. Worked flawlessly.

Hello riding season. Nice to have you back. Here's my S10 post-loop, coming home to a driveway-full of teenaged boys' cars, over at our house to play...Playstation. Kids these days. Need to get them out for some motorized fresh air!

The wife and I went for a 160 mile ride together...her first real time on the bike with me. A few short 'reviews' to come from our first ride of the spring:
1- This was my first ride with my shock having been re-worked by Rick at Cogent Dynamics. Initial impression is VERY good, in that I notice a difference but don't really notice anything (which is good). He put a heavier spring on, as well as re-worked a few of the internals and made it serviceable in the future. The spring makes it to where I can't quite set the proper sag for me riding solo, but I'm accustomed to stiffer rides and it doesn't bother me at all. With a passenger on the back (or luggage, or both) it adjusts perfectly. We took a baseline setting and headed out. Smooth backroads gave a nice smooth ride, but once we hit choppy asphalt, the bike seemed to 'pogo' in back. We stopped and I added a couple cranks of preload (moved the indicator to the middle of the range) and a major dose of damping (about 3/4 total) and it smoothed everything out. Nice firm ride, no pogoing, no jarring over sharp ruts. Best $369 I've spent on the bike to this point.

My wife wore her Scorpion EX-500 helmet, Sedici Alexi jacket, as well as her Sedici Emilia gloves for the first time. Removed the thermal liner, but unbeknownst to us, we left the rain liner in. Even at that, she wasn't overly hot on a 78-degree day. Fit was great, she felt comfortable in the jacket noting it wasn't overly stiff (a common complaint). Gloves were comfortable, and most importantly, all fit properly. When our ride ended, her helmet did not show any signs of sweat in the liner (my Bell RS-1 was a bit damp).

This was also my first ride wearing a Scorpion Passport suit. I'd read about it in MCN over the winter (and they mentioned closeout pricing). Wife jumped on it and found on for $199 before everyone else jacked their prices back up to normal retail. I now have the Passport to wear in weather under 80 degrees, and an Olympia Stealth mesh suit for above 80 temps. Needless to say, I'm sold on the idea of a one-piece suit. The passport doesn't have as many pockets as some suits have, but has enough for me. Venting is decent. I don't normally complain of heat issues (living in Texas you just don't), but I don't know that I'd wear this suit much above 80 degrees. Armor fit properly, didn't slide around, everything was comfortable (I always wear my pants tucked inside my boots - Gaerne SG-10) and all in all very satisfied.

Great ride, nice weather (beat the rain) and looking forward to many more rides to come.

Luggage arrived today.

With some prototype black retro stickers on them from South Dakota. I figure they will be available shortly from Realtime Industries.

Happy to see Alex finally got some Tenere OEM boxes to make reflective rear decals. I have his reflective decals on the back of my FJR and they are nice looking and inexpensive.

Installed the seat modification featured somewhere on this forum with the Yamaha Road Star bungs. Easy as pie and I can already tell the angle is much better.
Also installed Winglets but here I needed to modify a little to accommodate my Duplex USB Outlet on the dash (see picture). Can't wait to try them out.
Saturday I will receive the Fenda Extenda and Hugger and a Sena S20 and then Farkle Fest should finally come to an end (until installing Heidenaus for the Summer trip to Yellowstone and Glacier)

Can you share the file. bob.stilwell1@gmail.com if possible. And where on the box do you put it?
Plug the zumo into your computer. If you have an SD card in it, I just dropped it in the JPEG folder. Then unplug and power on your device. Go to the "Picture Viewer" screen, select the image, click on "Info", and select "Use this photo as the default splash screen". Boom. Instant lady bait.

First day after taking new bike delivery. White was far and away my preferred color and I liked the red stripes. But the red stripes stop premature, they don't surround the Yamaha emblem.

So I found the graphics shown in the photo below and liked the change, especially the continuation of stripes on the main tank. The red and white really pops. So I purchased the graphics. Today I go to install the graphics, first step is to remove the stock red stripes.

Funny thing is after removing the stock stripes I stand back, look, then look again and wow I surprised myself by liking this better than either of the red stripes. Very unexpected but this is how it will stay for now.

Another April leg-stretcher and shakedown cruise...had a clear, mostly sunny day, and no family or work obligations, so made a run north to the Massachusetts border.

Took Route 7 up through CT and the Litchfield Hills. Highlights were lunch in beautiful Kent, CT, the covered bridge in Cornwall, Sharon CT (a pre-revolutionary town from the original Connecticut colony), and a state-line crossing into Amenia, NY. Didn't quite graze Mass. on this 175 mile run, but still satisfying and gorgeous.

SuperTen ran like a top. I noticed a slight "juddering" in 6th gear later in the ride (is this what the clutch basket thing is all about?), but other than that, and some seat discomfort after several hours in the saddle, flawless. Just about 3K on the bike now.

A few pics for the curious. Thank heaven spring is finally here.
