Fuel stabilizer, Yamaha ring free, full tank of gas, changed oil with Amsoil, oil filter and put the beast in hibernation.
Only have to put on a trickle charger and a quick cleaning. Still have the KLR to ride into the snow season.

Touratech windshield bracket and Garmin Montana GPS. Wired to auxiliary light plug. Time to embrace some navigation technology.
You will love the GPS. I have mine mounted on a Madstad bracket on the Garmin rugged mount and wired to a Twisted Throttle fuseblock/relay. Some vibes in gravel, but tolerable.
Basecamp software is a bit of a learning curve though. There is a mega thread over on ADV on the Montana. Great information there on use, planning etc.

Took her for a spin. After close to three months, the over 7K in repairs after my Dempster Diving adventure have been completed. I immediately found some very loose gravel, and got my mojo back!

Ended up riding some unexpected gold country NF roads and some excellent paved twisties. The NF roads were in the middle of Rock Creek Road http://goo.gl/maps/a23Ap (C to D to A to B). Did not ride that section of 193 but it is nice. A to B is an excellent unpainted road and a lot of fun as was 193 to 49. The Super Tenere was well suited for this ride. Next week I will include a narrow Mosquito Road, avoid the NF roads, and take pictures.

Well how did the medium work out I was thinking of getting a large, I have one on my FZ6 and really works well.

If you're considering a CalSci medium or large, might I suggest you take a look at the offerings from Parabellum - http://parabellum.com/Super-Tenere-Replacement-Windshield-P79C19.aspx

I first got a CalSci "medium" for my Super Tenere based on the good performance of the CalSci windshield on my FJR, but when I got the CalSci Super Tenere screen it simply did not work. Add to that the fit and finish was terrible as compared to the FJR screen. Choppy, irregular cuts... Poorly finished edges... Etc., etc. Upon the recommendation of a forum member here I got a Parabellum "medium" and found it to be far, far superior, both in fit and finish as well as performance. Smoother air flow, quieter, you name it.

To add just how good the Parabellum is... Recently I picked up a used National Cycle "V-Stream" screen, thinking I'd try it given the good reviews by some. Got it. Mounted it. Rode with it for 200 miles, and went right back to the Parabellum screen. It flat just works.

And for the record, I am in no way work for or am affiliated in any way, shape, or form with Parabellum, other than as a satisfied customer. So satisfied that when and if this one ever needs to be replaced I will happily buy another. I've got over 30,000 miles with the Parabellum and I can recommend it highly.

Rode the Old Girl seven hours yesterday to get to the North Georgia mountains (hills for you lucky bastards out west that have real mountains).

Then spent a couple of hours today ripping around some twisty roads (we don't have those in Florida) - the Old Girl did just fine - and the new Tourance NEXT tires I had mounted a couple of weeks ago have performed better than expected.

She's adjusting to Mountain Life quite well - sad it's only for a week...

Finally finished installing the upper Altrider bars from Jaxon in conjunction with the lower OEM crash bars and the ALT Rider skid plate. ALL the OEM crash bar parts were kept in use including the lower crossbar and the "up and over" light bar. the upper Alt rider bars use the same mounting holes as the oem lowers so just a bit longer bolts and few minor hole enlargements a minor "cut "out of the skid plate and a pry bar were used. A few choice vocabulary words, a lot of patience and a beverage of choice were required. Hope the pics come out clear enough. Ride on!!

Spent the morning in the garage making DIY protection. First a mud-flap to better protect the shock area, then a rear infill panel and protection for the rear brake fluid reservoir.

Ready for winter in the PNWet now, and all for $15 in materials...

You're welcome, Mayassa...

And I'm sure you'll be pleased with the Parabellum, but note the great 30 day money back guarantee they have. If you don't like it, for any reason, then all you gotta' do is call 'em, box it back up, and ship it back. They truly believe in their product.

One thing... Listen to them about what size you need. They know their windshields and aerodynamics, and they won't steer you wrong. That said, if you get one too tall they will trim it to fit your needs free of charge. Just an FYI.

Post up when you get it and let us know what you think! ::012::

Replaced the battery.

The ignition crank up had been getting progressively weaker over the last month or so. The bike is 2 years old with over 23,000 miles and thousands of starts. Figured I had enough warning. I thought about the fancy new battery technology but decided to stay with the factory recommendation - Yuasa YTZ12S. Paid $144 delivered from AtBatt.com

No, I didn't test the old battery, but with the new one in, it cranks right up.

P.S. I put it on the battery tender overnight until it was at float level before attempting to start the bike.

Preparing to take delivery of my Arrow header and exhaust pipe, PCV and Auto tune from Jaxon!
I removed the full stock exhaust (22lbs) and changed the air filter.
Now, I just have to wait and watch (patiently) for the package to arrive in the mail.... which just cleared customs Canada...... :)

Bottomed out the rear on some gravel washouts two-up with the wife this Sunday and felt the rear tire rub on my Mega Tube. DAMN! I had a pretty good write up of the utopian positioning on the frame, but it's just not meant to be. By and large, it's just too big by about a half inch OD and catches the last 3/16" of the rear tire.

Ordered the locking normal tube this afternoon and will just have to deal with it being smaller...
