So, today I found out how wonderful, HA, it is to have a southwest facing garage when it is already 99 degrees outside.
I wish it was only 99 here....it was 115F in the shade at my house today. I have the bike all apart trying to install my FZ-1 fuse block, horns, powerlet outlets, volt meter, etc....but no way. Even now at 10PM it is still 99F outside. :-[

"What did I do to my Tenere today"?????????????

Well, I had the traction control FAIL...!!!!!!!!!!!

I was slowly and gently riding the bike out of the workshop the other night and must have let the clutch out a little too fast.. ::26::

XT1200Z Traction Control.mp4

In my defense.. The old tire was close to death - I dont do this all the time (not while sitting in one place at least >:D) - I never took it past 1200rpm .

Lucky that I had a new 150 heidi sitting in the garage ready to take the old ones place..

Greg.

By the way - linked ABS and TCS is "ON" 8)

In the last few days I got my bike ready for my first road trip to the Indy Moto GP. Wired my GPS power, with double super secret hidden switch to turn off power to it when the GPS is not installed, wired my switched power to my Sirius radio, installed a coax constant 12 volt outlet in an existing hole in the left frame. Loaded up my Trax boxes, Yamaha Tenere tank bag, mounted the GPS and Sat radio and had a wonderful 500 mile trip. First time I have had it on the interstate at prolonged highway speeds (75-80) and she purrs like a kitten at those speeds, is very comfortable and I had a big grin on my face when I got to Indy. Our Yamaha district sales rep was working at the Yamaha display tent. Since he just got his S10 last week and got to ride it to Indy, he was assigned to answer questions about the 2 units they had on display there. He said they were the stars of the show, with lots of interest. While I was standing there with my Super Tenere hat, I also got to answer lots of questions.

A great weekend that had me more in love with this bike than I was before, and I was pretty well smitten with it before the trip. Just what I was wanting, an adventure bike that is fun on tight, twisty, bumpy back roads and still a cruise missle on the highway.

I took the rear off the bike to find a place to tie in my hyperlights. Didnt like any of the options so I tied in under the front seat. Made sure everything worked. Buttoned it all back up then discovered I couldnt find my ratchet to snug up the luggage rack/pillion handles ::010::. Off came everything and sure enough, there was my ratchet in the space under the luggage rack under the pillion seat.

Got the grips installed, fuse panel is in, Bags Connection electric tank ring is on, all wires run to the general area of the fuse panel.

Tomorrow I should be able to button her up and only need to get my Autocom dialed sometime next week. In the interim, I can run direct to the Zumo.

Yesterday I added on of Tabasco's carbon Tenere dude tank protectors and several miscellaneous decals to the bags.

Finally got my GPS mounted. I had one vendor that couldn't deliver the product ( and did refund my money after about a month of waiting) and the other vendors options were too expensive for where I wanted to mount it, so just fabricated my own for basically nothing. Will see how the vibration works with this mounting postition. Luckily it does have a headphone jack.

I got her home yesterday afternoon....it was only 119*...Last night, I went out to the shop and adjusted the handlebars and controls (hmmm, could use a bit more height, as I'm slightly more forward than I like when standing). And as awesome as this bike is, why for the love of it, are the throttle cables routed like that? Out come the hex sockets, and in a few minutes, the cables are now underslung...I also ordered my first farkles the BMW sport grips (have them on my FJR, and love 'em) and a Crampbuster (didn't feel like I needed it when I did the demo back in April, but put a few miles on the bike the other night, and decided its worthwhile to have; again, I also have one on the FJR).

Today, its already over 100* (at 9am!), but I'll be taking her out for a spin, and maybe line up the ST, YFZ and FJR and snap a few pics...

Forgot, also got my "Die Hard" sticker on her. Since I don't have panniers (yet), I put it right under the license plate on that nice backing plate...

If he is talking about the throttle cables, there is plenty of slack when raising the bars. It is the hydraulic lines that are the limiting factor. I thought he did something so that you don't have those throttle cables sticking way up in front of the instruments, etc.

I changed grips to "Pro Taper Pillow Top MX Grips" :)

They are shorter but seems to work fine for me and they actually looks good in my opinion!
Reduces vibrations a bit more and cheap enough to try out in any case.

Those look good.. I have similar dirt bike grips that are short, I like them..... I'm going to add my trailtech dash controller next to the grip in the 'extra space'... should be the perfect fit.
