I think that's going to be the key. Many here that don't like the throttle, want it to be like their past bikes; throttle cable, and carbs. When I went from the RT to the ST13, I adjusted the brake lever of the ST to match the feel of the RT. IIRC, I did the same when I went to the Tenere. But, it took me no time at all to fall in love with the "twitchy" throttle, and enormous engine braking. On twisty roads, they make for a fantastic combination. For me.
I don't think I've ever ridden a two stroke, so I don't have anything to base it on. But yeah, either find or make a bike do what you want so you want to ride it.
