As a long time Pontiac Owner/Fan I can appreciate the work.
I've replaced a few of those "Rope Type" rear main seals in my day.............Once in the middle of winter, in the driveway of my Parents' house in NY, underneath the Car when it was 10-degrees F outside!
That was fun.....................

Love the Car!
That had to be awful!
I once helped my dad replace a starter in a snowstorm in the grocery store parking lot. As a 10 yr old the best help I gave was building a snow fort wall in front of the car to block the wind.
A new neoprene seal is going in.

Guy, I know Rust-oleum makes engine paint in black, that is oil and gas resistant, but do they make other colors too, or is that just their automotive paint?
I don't know. I did buy some rustoleum rust reformer that chemically alters the surface rust into a black (magnatite?) layer so it is now inert and then I will primer it with a rustoleum primer. The top coat is the correct factory paint for a 75-76 Pontiac. Although much to my chagrin it was used by Oldsmobile 69-76. I really like it compared to the earlier Pontiac sky blue. I got the paint from Butler Performance. Twas not cheap but it's correct. $18 a can. $100's spend like $20's used to.

After 10 hours of scrubbing with various cleansers, degreasers, and a heavy bath of brake cleaner (almost 4 cans) then heated slightly with a MAP gas torch... I then sprayed Rust-oleum rust reformer on it to neutralize the surface rust. That turned out to be also a black primer. I like dark grey with a darker blue... but I wasn’t going to prime it again. I was outside on a cloudy day. Had to use a LED drop light to see it somewhat over the black when applying the color. But this is the finished product next week it will hopefully be back in the car.

Upgraded my comms when I bought a new helmet. So I have two complete SENA 20S units with instruction manuals for free. Just pay for the postage. I am also posting this on some other forums. First response gets them.20231109_095743.jpg

If still available I would like them
They are but what are you going to do with them? I know yours works. I sure wish I had one of those boom mics on my SENA for our trip.
You want to ride down here Monday and go back Tuesday. 65° those two days. Or I could meet you around Baraboo.

Anyone want an almost new set of Battle Born Tires? I posted in the for sale section. I am not going to use them so free to a good home.

So here is a question. I haven't had a reason to look at the radiator. Is it aluminum or old style steel and brass? reason that I ask is because radiator shops are becoming scarce if I ever need to repair it. aluminum is considered a throw away radiator and usually not repairable but replaceable for a large sum of money or a roll of the dice when ordering a Chinese radiator.
radiator shops used to be very prevalent but within the last 20 yrs have totally disappeared in Northen Illinois. I had to travel almost an hr away to find one. cost $923 to re-core my 4 core Trans Am radiator and it took two weeks as they were backed up with work. He stated... I'm the only one left around here so I get everyone's repairable radiators. He had to repair an end bell too. better core than stock and better than the new ($850 + shipping) radiators I could order that were "supposed" to fit. I have lived through the nightmare of htr cores and radiators that are guaranteed to fit and didn't. That made it an easy decision to have the old one repaired... now to put everything back together.
I'm looking to got to Northern Georgia in April or May next spring. I might also wander other places and it would be great to stop and chat over a soda with forum members. I'll try to let y'all know ahead of time. We just got another dusting of snow but they salted everything down again. Have a happy maintenance season and a great Holiday season!

As many of you know I have retired. One of my goals in retirement is to learn how to make mouth watering brisket, ribs (made twice both times dry rub and awesome) and pulled pork. I have a buddy who is teaching me. I have done two brisket which weren't bad but last night was an utter failure. He told me to shred it and use it in sandwiches and tacos. We made quesadilla's last night and they were very good.
This is round 4 and he came over and showed me how to trim and season it then I did the next one. Tomorrow the cooking starts.
Why am I telling you this??? An idea is starting to percolate in my head. When I get pretty good I think I will start an annual RTE. I have 3 acres for camping and live 20 minutes from hotels. I can make some gpx routes for day trips into NW Illinois and SW Wisconsin Gravel or paved.
Any interest in this????
This is Mike. He makes some of the best brisket ever. I have a lot of family in S. TX and his is every bit as good if not better.
