Well they are longer but where the longer part is mounted seems about useless .
Mine measures 6 1/2 inches and seems to cover just as much of the part that needs covering as yours do.
I also bought a used set of AltRider covers from a board member but never mounted them because seems like they would just make trouble installing and removing the Shock Sox for washing

Yes, just seem longer up top... but it sure makes it easier to keep clean.

Changed oil, filter and final drive lube. Also has to plug the rear tire. I started getting a TPMS warning and could see I was loosing about 1PSI/minute. Luckily I was only a mile or so from home after a morning canyon run.

I am off doing the CPAAT. A bit chilly but after trailering the bike from Illinois to Eastern Pennsylvania through rain all day yesterday I was happy to see sun today! I am riding a 2017 CRF 1000 AT. I compare the ST to the AT. Don't know why the link won't copy straight over. Just tap on Adventuresbyguy.com and it will be CPAAT day 2.

i have a set of 13 inch sock sox that i have from the USA i,m in the UK there still in the pack as there 13 inch i was hoping to have them cover all the chrome but not fitted them as not sure whats the best way, if they cover all the chrome and sit down on the lower black foot, will they not fold up and crumple up on fork decompresion

I was wondering the same thing too. I looked at the photos on the package and they had the words right side up so you can read them. They also said to put the strap just above the end of the outer tube. I was concerned about the sock not letting the suspension travel all the way as you'd have a lot of material on the chrome inner tube. Makes sense to have the words right side up as that’s how most companies would do it. The sock is there to protect your seal by shoving dirt and grit down and away. It does that. If someone can find any literature that says to flip them I'll give that a try.

I believe yours are mounted correctly but other than showing lots of fancy orange color I don’t think the upper half is actually helping anything.

will they be ok, if you pull them down to cover all the chrome do you know

I have the 13” Velcro ones mounted. They are mounted to cover the chrome except for the last couple of inches for rider sag. Ain’t had a fork seal leak n years. I was constantly cleaning weeps until I got them.

Years ago, I wrapped my upper fork legs with carbon fiber look "wrap" because I didn't like the gold legs on my black bike. You would not believe the amount of nicks there are in those wraps after about 50K miles, so yes, I think there is a potential benefit in having the upper part of your fork covered, if for nothing else, to keep your forks looking purdy :)

I haven't been on the Tenere or any other bike for a bit. Sometimes you have to stay home and get things done. I pulled my 76 455 HO TA into a garage to get some work done on it. I had it up on the lift to change the clutch and decided to finally get the rear main seal upgraded so it doesn't have a slow leak. I am not going to be doing that. It also has a left exhaust manifold leaking. So the engine got pulled and they finally got the manifold off. They noticed the valley pan gasket was leaking. Ok, replace that. Hey, how many miles you got on this? 104,000. Think I should replace the timing chain while we're there? Yep. Ok, do it. Next day I get a call... you need to come down here. 15 minutes later I am looking at a cam lobe that is round and worn down. Just one! Well, looks like I need a new cam! So it will be a bit bigger than stock and a new Edelbrock intake. I took all the tin up to be bead blasted then have spent some time priming them and painting with the correct paint for a 76 Pontiac. Along the way I found out thst both exhaust manifolds were cracked. I took thos and got them repaired. Waiting for those and the Valley Pan to be bead blasted and then those will be painted. Spent some time today spritzing kerosene on the block and scrubbing it with a wire brush. When I got most of it I then used Simple Green and several nylon brushes to get things cleaner. Almost done. Another 2 hrs tomorrow and I should be ready to spray the block with Brakleen to remove any oil residue prior to painting. Thought about using a torch to ensure any oils are removed. Not sure yet. Been also mowing and raking a bit as it is fall. I had 2 beautiful days to go riding but had to make the car a priority. Soon back to the bikes and doing so.e winterizing and cleaning/maintenance. A rusty pump bead blasted and all pretty again. This was a replacement and was never painted before.

Fan and one of the pulleys. My 17 yr old son looked at that fan and asked... isn't that missing a couple of blades? Nope, they came that way.

Looking pretty good but the one closest is screwed up. I saw a spot by the grommet thst wasn't covered. I told myself to wait 2 to 4 minutes and shoot it again. Did I listen. No, so I tried wiping the sag and I new better. So, it's drying overnight here.

More pulleys, engine mount and a primered oil pan. I look at that pan and these days it looks like a diesel PU truck pan! 7.5 liter or 455 CI.

Started with 200 grit, then 400 grit. Thought about 800 grit but was impatient. Just should have sanded a broader area to make sure I got all the 200 grit scratches. 20231028_171219.jpg

All pretty again. That's the timing chain/water pump housing hanging up.

Here is the valve cover all painted again. No scratches visible after 3 coats of color. Paint has some metal flake in it so you have to be careful not to get it to wet or else the flakes will pool and look different where they do.

As a long time Pontiac Owner/Fan I can appreciate the work.
I've replaced a few of those "Rope Type" rear main seals in my day.............Once in the middle of winter, in the driveway of my Parents' house in NY, underneath the Car when it was 10-degrees F outside!
That was fun.....................

Guy, I know Rust-oleum makes engine paint in black, that is oil and gas resistant, but do they make other colors too, or is that just their automotive paint?
