Hello Jaume.

First of all, sorry for my poor English. :(

Cuco (Spanish Yamaha Tenere Forum member) last week told me that you were going to mount a 21" front wheel. I see you've got it. I have forward to seeing your bike in direct someday.

Hola Ernest!
Don't worry about your english this guys here are very kind and they are used to read my horrible english too :'(

I know Cuco, a great adventurer. Yes the wheel is finished, today I had a good ride, very pleased with it, just some few adjustments on the skid plate and ready!
Hope to see you!

JaimeV,

Do you know if the stickers are available in the UK :question:

I have given up trying to get them from Yamaha, the dealer cannot find part numbers / prices, I spoke to Yamaha at the Bike show and they insist they are available, but could not give me part numbers ot prices.

I sometime wonder if Yamaha actually want to remain in business in the UK, they price the bike out of the market, then have a huge display for the Tenere at the NEC bike show, showing off and promoting the World Crosser kit, but it is impossible to get hold of it :exclaim:

I just want some nice fairing / tank stickers to break up my dull silver colour.

I dont know about the Yamaha sickers. My dealer develops the ones I have. You can see them in his web shop, he delivers all over the world:

Last week I saw a silver bike with the side pannels paintet in black and the complete decal set and looks great.
I have now a new kit (not in production yet) who covers part of the side pannels to protect them from scratches and looks great. This is mine but it could be without logos:

I really like these, I will order one after Christmas.

Do you know if these will mark the bike if they are removed :question:

I also wondered if they could be lacquered over once fitted to keep them in good condition for years to come :question:

I don't think they mark, the problem is that probably the paint witch is not covered by the stickers could be different because the sun but a polish can help.

If you lacquered is going to be a problem if you wish to replace them, I wouldn’t do it. They are very good quality, really thick vinyl. I have it for nearly 9 months and they are like the first day.
I recommend specially the tank covers. Really good material.

Cheers

Thanks

I will take your recomendation and just put them on as they come, the bike lives in a garage and is not used daily so should not fade too quickly, and one thing with the rather boring silver colour is it is unlikely to fade as much as the more interseting ones.

Quite fancy the full 165 euro kit, not sure if I would use all the stickers, but I like the ones that cover where your knees sit against the side panels and the fairing-tank stripe.

My dealer had a new silver bike in his shop for a long time and didn't sell it. One day he painted the side panels in black, put the stickers and sold it in one week. ;)
It couldn't be expensive to paint the two panels... >:D

I have a mate with a sprayshop who does a lot of prestige cars so can get good quality paintwork done bery cheaply, may try to pick up some spare scuffed panels form a breakers and get them painted up.

Then you can have two options: paint the side panels only or paint all the bike... ::024::

And don't forget white is the fastest colour.... >:D :D ::003::

Thanks!! I'm glad you like it.

Last time I've been busy with the skid plate mods to fit the 21" front wheel. It’s been quite a lot of work but I must say with this wheel the bike is really amazing, I’m so pleased with it!!

So, to fit the plate I add some reinforcements in the sides and opened a big hole in the front so the wheel doesn’t hit the plate.
I’m still looking to a smaller oil filter so its protection is provisional. It is screw in the plate so I can make a smaller one if I’ve found the filter. Also I would like if it works like this so I can change the oil and oil filter without removing the plate. ;)

Here you can see the differences. In the pictures with the dirty bike is the new plate.

Re: Super Ténéré 1200 OFF ROAD preparations and experiences thread.

I had some Christmas holydays and some time to do a bit of tuning in my bike. :)

Very often when I’m doing off road I can feel the branches scratching the paint in the bike sides, so I decided to put some stickers to protect them. The good thing with stickers is that I can go to the original look easily ::008::

It seems, your starting to admit that the Black one's are indeed the fastest one's.... ;)

Shame on you JaimeV ::005::
First you put every one thinking that the white is the nicest color ( next to the blue ), than you change to black...??
You are a traitor ::025::
I hope that during 2013 you change to blue ::012::

You know… my bike is very vain and change clothes by season. This is the winter dress 2012, we see what she’s going to wear for Spring 2013. ;)

The truth is that I tried putting transparent vinyl but it doesn’t work, the white was different to the rest of the bike… so I tried with this black. It's a very thick and strong one so it's going to protect well the paint... (hope).
We'll see if it lasts .. ::003::
