Thanks for all the complements. I am really enjoying the Holan system. In response the the question about the overall width I just went into the garage and measured the width at just over 35 inches.

I see that Holan USA's website now says that these boxes are out of stock. It will be interesting to see how they do fulfilling orders, I hope they can stay on top of it because it really is a great product. Its sad when customer service reviews are holding them back, that should be the easy part. But as I said before my experience with them has been nothing but great.
Last year was a bit of a rough year for Holan. Around 1/3 of the way through it, shipment from them ground to a halt with no real explanation. in August, they finally let us know they were being acquired. Since shipments started up again in Q3, everything has been as we would have hoped.

That said, the next shipments of Super Tenere kits is expected near the end of the month (+/- 5 days for customs clearance) We sold through our entire January shipment within a day of pictured being posted here.

you might want to consider updating your site. There are no photos of this setup on the ST and there are other errors in the Yamaha listing. I note your prices have increased also.

I've corrected the widths in the listing, and I've extended the special to now expire with the sale of the second shipment.

The reason they were on special to begin with was because we didn't have complete pictures from Holan.

I must admit the width of the Holan system for the capacity is very impressive, and is one of the main reasons I am being drawn in this direction. I am after a pair of 45s with the cut-out for the exhaust, and can anyone confirm the volume "lost" to this cut-out and therefore the actual volume in litres?

I have asked questions of Holan in Poland via email and I have not received a response. If I were in the USA it seems I would have much better service! :-\

Regards,

Matt

I'd guesstimate about 3 liters and some change.

The mounting cross brace for the Holans is a bit of a turn-off for me but I'm considering.

The shop is 30 minutes from me. As soon as they confirm they have them in I will stop by and take pics and do some measuring.

You are fortunate. They are a good price in the USA, and with you living close to the distributor meaning no shipping they are starting to look like a bargain! The cross brace is similar to the 1200GSA, I believe, and I guess I have seen so many of those I just get used to it. 8)

Matt

I'm pretty seriously considering muffintops (http://muffintopindustries.com/) on SW-Motech racks (yes I've read the alignment threads). Anybody with photos of that setup and details about your mounting? Width and liter info?

Metal Mule have been running an offer for a while now if anyone is interested here's the link http://www.metalmule.com/luggage-system-builder?bike=40 ::008::

Here's the contacts page for you guys in the US http://www.metalmule.com/contact ::008::
That is a good deal but those boys are very wide. I have seen a few of my friends come to grief when filtering in traffic across Europe because of wide panniers, so there is a little something in the back of my mind with this. The new balanced system that MM will release about the end of March could be interesting.

Still not sure, and waiting for a price from the UK importer for a Holan for the full kit so I can make my choice...

Regards,

Matt

I know what yoiu mean about filltering Matt, can be a bit of a pain sometimes but when I have Ben on the back I rarelly fillter unless loads of space or traffic is at a standstill. Mind on the other side of that coin is the fact 95% of cages get out my way when the see the metel frame clad Beast approaching ::025:: ::025:: ::025::

I've just email MM re the 31 litre box as a compromise for One up trips which will bring the width down quite a bit, less than the width of the bars that is. ::008::

Contacted MotoInsight here in Pittsburgh about the Holan bags. Nothing in stock to check out right now. They expect two sets in by the first or second week of March. I'll definitely go see what comes in but it looks like it may be the same old story with slow production and shipping?

In Poland they have Holan panniers in stock. I'm about to go ahead for 2 x 45l with cut-out for exhaust which will take about 5,5ltr (info from Holan).
They do not make racks for topcase but they can prefabricate something.

I was almost ready to pull the trigger on some Yamaha panniers until I saw the price for so little space (less than 30L combined!). What was the price for those that have the jesses system, and for those that have the TraX boxes, do you think you could post a picture from the front of your bike so I can see how much they stick out? Thanks.

I think you'll find the Yam ones are 64l combined... Jesse Odyssey are 105l for the same width (if you give up the grab rails) and price last time I looked was $1290.

When I looked at the Yamaha site, the bags had a capacity of 769 cubic inches (left), and 952 cubic inches (right). My math is not that good but I'm pretty sure it comes out to a little under 30L (769+952*.016387064=28.2021L).

The math agrees. One liter = 61.0237441 cu. in. 1,721 cu in / 61.0237441 = 28.20213714 L. Mama Yamaha must have posted erroneous cubic inch numbers.

Anyone have the Yamaha pannier dimensions?

Your conversion is right - Yamah USA screwed up the conversion from litres to cubic inches. I wish the USA would get with the program and go metric like everyone else FFS!
