Well, the job is done.
First of all BIG THANKS to WJBertrand for opening his garage and his time to a complete stranger (with an accent), on a Sunday never the less.
We were in and out of there in 90 minutes, with Jeff performing all the surgical, while I helped with moving the swing arm up and down.
I have only been able to take one ride since then. I have a long ways to go in terms of fine tuning the suspension but have started by moving the pre-load to 1 rider only, vs 2 up + luggage before. My test came on the twisty road of LA National Forest (CA-2) which I am super familiar with.
I started with a STANDARD 0 setting (still one rider for pre-load) but ended up moving up to HARD 0, which felt better for me, even better than my previous HARD +3 on 2 riders + luggage with the stock spring.
This is where I am right now, like I said, I have to keep trying things and it will be a while before I come up with what works for me.
The height has increased and now my reach to the ground is a little more challenging, but still safe. I have not dragged any hard parts during my test (70 miles), at a pretty fast pace.
I am excited about trying new things and learning about the new options and reactions this new spring will offer.
Thanks again to all of you posting here and making other inmates lives much easier when it comes to wrenching and fixing problems.
