Just ordered the direct replacement spring from Racetech and the online ordering worked smoothly and I already got a shipping notification that the spring will be here on Friday. The to do list for the next garage day is getting longer and longer.
Let us know how that spring works out for you. Thank you!

I’m still happy with my Eibach spring and spacer. Though you can get to the same initial sag numbers with the direct fit RT spring, it does have a lower spring rate. What this means is that as you adjust the ES preload the difference between the settings will be smaller than with a higher rate spring. I like the more noticeable changes between settings that the higher rate/slope spring affords.

Another +1 for the spacer / spring setup. I used the exact same settings as Jeff. I'm 200 -210 and it works great.

Seems like the Race Tech direct replacement spring is working nicely. Much less sag and firmer ride.
Static sag for the 8.5 kg spring with empty top box is ~30mm, race sag 1 up + luggage is ~60mm.

Thank you sir! I just might go this route to start with. I’m at about 205 without gear. So I may go up one rate. Still not sure as I like my suspension a bit on the softer side.

Suspension is not my forte, but what is the part number for the RT spring for 230 lbs. rider plus gear?
SK SPRING 8.0 x 2.25" 9.8kg
SESP 802250550
$134.99
Do I need any other part to install?

You only need the spring and the spring compressors (which are generally too delicate for the task so you need to clamp them tightly with a vise or adjustable wrench). I used the 8.5 kg spring for my weight. The last two numbers of the Part Number are the spring rate, so SRSP 6022085 is an 8.5 kg Spring

I have questions about the RT spring option hopefully someone can answer. I'm not savvy to the math but I think I'm following. I have a 2014 ES, and I'm 275ish with gear.

I want the minimum spring rate needed for better sag, and ideally the new spring rate would allow the stated ES setting to match reality. (1up for solo no bags, 2up+luggage when I actually have a passenger and luggage.) I generally use the 2up setting when riding solo and bare, no luggage. When fully packed with a passenger, the 2up+luggage isn't enough and the bike handles poorly unless I hug the tank to get more weight over the front.

I know I'm big but I don't want to go so stiff that damping can't keep up, or so stiff that the ride gets harsh even in soft mode off road or on the slab. Has anyone had these issues after the swap? I like a nice soft ride when slabbing, but I firm it up when carving.

Anyway, all that to say I think I should get the same 8.5 spring as Rodge after looking over his numbers - SRSP 6022085, but I want second opinions.

Thanks

Also if it helps as a reference point, when we ride rough pavement 2-up with luggage, in that ES setting to match, we do tend to bottom out on big bumps in SOFT mode. STD we do not bottom out. Hard feels reasonably good for spirited 2-up on smooth pavement so long as I adjust body position forward, but overall would clearly benefit from a stiffer spring.

Hi guys.
I'm a new Inmate in this forum, in the next few days I'll pick up a new S10 ZE from my Yamaha dealer.
As we all know, the rear shock is too soft for the majority owners.
Im 98Kgs naked, and maybe I could weight 110Kgs ready to ride.

I thinking about a rear spring replacement inmediately to take the correct SAG for my weight (in one helmet configuration)
I have a couple of doubts.

I' m considering the SRSP6022-90 but I'm worried about the preload servomotor, I don't know if it will has enough power to preload the new spring. Even I know the bike will rise a lot from the rear, However I'm 1,85 metre with a 34 LEVI inseam.

Another question is that I noticed the ES system does not preload the fork springs. I don't know if it's possible to do it manually. If It is not, I guess the front of the bike will be too low compared with the rear.

I've found a Racetech dealer in Europe but I don't know which spring must be ordered, the 85 or the 90. (SRSP6022-XX)

Can someone help me with my doubts?

Thank you in advance to all, this is my first of hundreds of questions, please be patient with me, also I apologise for my poor english grammar.
