Sorry about the miscommunication. I have the ECU unleashed reflash and it made a big difference in my ST. Has anyone put these reflashed bikes side by side to AVC's reflash for a comparison. AVC's reflash is a great price for a product that makes the bike better. I'm just curious. Thanks

Since you have ECU-U, why don't you start a thread looking for someone in your area that has an avc flash - hook up and ride one anothers bike - post the results. My guess, avc flash the same or better.

Great idea! Anyone in the North Texas area around Gainesville,Tx with the AVC reflash? I'd really enjoy an opportunity to ride with other ST owners. Send me a message. Renovator20@gmail.com

As one who bought the original EC-U (there's only 1 U in their name) flash and got their free Gen 2 upgrade, and am totally happy with it and believe that it was the best $450 I have spent on this bike since I got it in July, 2011, I can say without a doubt that if I didn't have a flash already done, I would send mine to AVC and have it flashed. Not only is the price very good, but from what I read, the results are very good and combined with his willingness to customize the flash for your particular desires makes his service outstanding, in my opinion.

Thanks for the ::008::

I've never had a chance to ride an EC-U flashed Tenere. I would LOVE to. I read every review as I was developing my maps within the Flash Tune software for my personal use. I feel pretty confident that I had the same developmental pains as EC-U did. My early versions gave me the same impression most Gen 1 reviews had. My later developments provoke the same response to me that I read about Gen 2.

I have no idea which is "better". I know just about every person who has the EC-U Gen 2 is thrilled, and you can see in most of my posts that I suggest everyone just get "a flash". The important thing with the Tenere is to realize how much potential is in there. Get the ECU to EC-U, Flash Tune, me, Diapson, whomever you like. Just get the darn thing flashed!

I second Greg!
Even if you and I are 2 of the not-shy-to-spar in the suspension threads posters, I've been impressed watching you tackle the alternative flash. And it's resulted in a huge increase of good running Teneres. Everyone's Tenere should run the way fellas describe their freshly flashed bikes run. And your own personal efforts reduced the entry fee to a point that even the skeptic could afford to indulge. I say bravo.

I just might be the one that sends my EC-U (you're right Greg) flashed ecu to flashtune and get it backed up. Then get an AC-U flash. :)

Be kinda cool to compare.
I'm considering it anyways. Probably time it for when my Ohlins bits are off the bike getting freshened up.

I'm about an hour north of there, in Ada, and as far as I know mine was one of the first that he did. ::001:: ::26:: ;D

You actually were the FIRST.

I'll have to check your file. There have been some advancements since then.

Ok, the bike's been sitting for some time as we've been concentrating on getting one of our daughters married off. That was last weekend so no I can focus on the important stuff :)

I had the CJM prior to the flash and was a bit disappointed after the flash with an obvious stumble at clutch release. Not sure if that was the flash or the fact the CJM was pulled. Today I put back in the CJM and the stumble was 100% gone again. I don't get it. AC, is there anyway that the ECU didn't 'take' the flash?

I hear all the accolades and I just want to understand why I'm not there with you. Have any of you gone from the simple CJM to the the flash?

Guess you didn't want to PM me to discuss this offline at all?

Well, it really depends on what options you chose for your flash and when the flash was done.

As I've said from day 1, this is an evolving entity. I know more now about flashing than I did when I first started.

Send me your full name so I can look up your flash file.

I was able to cross-ref your name and your location to figure out your flash file.

I checked what I did. I don't see any reason from an ECU standpoint your bike should be stumbling on clutch release.

You would KNOW from the throttle if the flash didn't take. Your throttle maps should be much more aggressive than the stock maps. If the flash didn't take, your T mode would be BORING.

One final, sure fire way to know:

Turn your bike on, set the display to coolant temp. Post a video of the bike coming up to temp and the cooling fan kicking on.

ya Snake,
keep me out of this.
Flashed ecu good! No didn't get my tenere done yet. I'm still recovering from the agonizingly slow turn around from my FZ ecu thanks to Canada post/US Post screw up.

My post wasn't to any way cast a negative light on what you're doing or the results you're getting. Quite frankly, I don't use PM's that much so it didn't even cross my mind reach out that way. Also, I was curious whether anyone else had moved from the CJM to ECU flash as I've done. I saw "Results Only" in the title and not "Good Results Only" and figured my post was relevant.

Back to the issue at hand:

Since I did the CJM almost immediately after purchasing the bike I don't have a real recollection of how 'T' mode felt . Once the CJM was in I had full power in first 3 gears and I do remember I was happy about that.

So, with the coolant temperature test what temp does the stock fan kick in and what temp does the flashed fan kick in?
